I purchased the Eurovan last year in hopes of taking the family camping. Unfortunately, due to our busy schedule we have yet to actually use this vehicle and therefore have decided to sell to someone who has the time to enjoy this great camper. The Eurovan is in very good condition. The body is in excellent condition with no rust. The rear bumper does have some damage but is still in generally good condition. The pop top is also in good condition but the previous owner did tear the mesh screen which he had repaired. The interior is also in exceptional condition. The original carpet has always been covered by a mat and is still in excellent condition. Likewise the dash, seats show very little wear. This is a used vehicle so there are minor imperfections from regular wear and tear but overall it is in very good condition for its age. My family is very sensitive to smoke and as far we can tell it has never been smoked in. We have never camped in the vehicle so we have never tested the sink, stove etc. but when I purchased it I was assured everything was in working condition. The cushions etc. are all also in very good condition. The camper will need a good cleaning as it has not been used for some time. The van has not been used since I purchased it last year, I may have driven it 100kms max. The current mileage is 194,914 kms /121,113 miles. In preparation to sell it I had it just gone over by a mechanic, a new safety inspection completed and the oil changed. I replaced the timing belt last year after I purchased it. It starts right up and idles great. I took it for spin on the highway and it works fine. Everything seems to work as it should but keep in mind I have yet to drive the camper a long distance. The camper was maintained through its life. I have the warranty book which show regular oil changes. I am aware the cylinder head was replaced in the past as result of a broken timing belt that is why I installed a new timing belt last year. I have posted a you tube video so you can hear the motor running and I will post additional pictures upon request. I have absolutely no objection to having the vehicle checked out by a mechanic at the purchasers cost as long as the mechanic is local to me. Search YOUTUBE for "1995 Volkswagen Eurovan Camper Walk Around Saint John NB" for the youtube video. I have put on a very low reserve on the camper in hopes of selling it before the snow hits. Otherwise I'll put it in storage and try camping again next year :) Please do not hesitate to ask any questions or arrange an inspection. The camper is located in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada about 60 miles from the Maine border at Calais. Shipping to the USA should not be a problem but is the buyers responsibility to confirm before bidding. Now for the fine print: - Please don't bid if you don't want to purchase or don't currently have the funds to purchase. - The vehicle should be picked up / shipped with in a month of the auction close. If it's longer I will have to charge storage fees because I need to store it indoors during the winter months. - A $300 non refundable deposit required within 48 hours of auction end and balance paid within 1 month. - Shipping is the purchaser's responsibility, I will assist if I can. - All INSPECTIONS MUST BE DONE BEFORE THE AUCTION ENDS. THIS VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD "AS-IS, WHERE IS" CONDITION WITH NO WARRANTY, EXPRESSED WRITTEN OR IMPLIED. ANY DESCRIPTIONS OR REPRESENTATIONS ARE FOR IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES ONLY AND ARE NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A WARRANTY OF ANY TYPE. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER TO HAVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, AND TO HAVE SATISFIED HIMSELF OR HERSELF AS TO THE CONDITION AND VALUE AND TO BID BASED UPON THAT JUDGMENT SOLELY. THE SELLER SHALL AND WILL MAKE EVERY REASONABLE EFFORT TO DISCLOSE ANY KNOWN DEFECTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF LISTING AND AT THE BUYER'S REQUEST PRIOR TO THE CLOSE OF SALE. SELLER ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY REPAIRS NEEDED AFTER THE VEHICLE IS SHIPPED. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. - I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL ALL EXISTING BIDS AND END THE AUCTION EARLY SHOULD THE ITEM NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE FOR SALE.
Thanks!

1 in 7 Americans say they might buy an EV next, as sales of electrics surge
Wed, Apr 26 2017About one in seven driving Americans may likely purchase an electric vehicle as their next car, according to an AAA poll, meaning that as many as 30 million Americans may pony up for an EV within the next three to five years. While some of the motivation is environmental, survey recipients say that lower maintenance expenses and solo access to high-occupancy-vehicle lanes are also among the factors behind potentially going electric. Take a look at the AAA press release on the study here. The poll indicates that about as many people are planning to buy an EV for their next car as are looking to buy a pickup, which is impressive given that the best-selling US vehicle is the Ford F-150. And things should only improve, as about 20 percent of millennials polled said that their next car would probably be an EV. The results are all the more encouraging, at least among green-car advocates, because gas prices have fallen about 40 percent within the past five years, meaning that there's less of an incentive to go electric from a purely economic perspective. Through the first quarter of this year, US plug-in vehicle sales were up about 63 percent from a year earlier to about 39,000 vehicles. Meanwhile, when it came to AAA's annual green-vehicle awards for this year, Tesla's Model S and Model X took the large car and SUV categories, respectively, while the Chevrolet Bolt and Volkswagen e-Golf were listed atop the subcompact and compact lists. The Lexus GS 450h hybrid and the Ford F-150 took home AAA's best green vehicle in the midsize and pickup truck categories. Related Video:
Winterkorn remains CEO of Volkswagen's majority shareholder
Sun, Oct 4 2015Martin Winterkorn may have stepped down as the chief executive of Volkswagen in the wake of the diesel emissions scandal, but he's not out from under the company's large umbrella just yet. In fact, according to a report from Reuters, he still holds four top-level positions not only within the industrial giant's bureaucracy, but at the top of it. And one of those is as CEO of the company's largest shareholder. That holding company is Porsche SE, the investment arm of the Piech and Porsche families (Ferdinand Porsche's descendants) which holds over 50 percent of VW's shares. In 2008, Porsche SE acquired majority interest in the Volkswagen Group which in turn acquired Porsche the automaker – and placed VW's Winterkorn at the head of the executive board of the holding company. Though Winterkorn has resigned from his position as chairman of VW's management board, he has apparently yet to step down from running Porsche SE. That's not the only job that Winterkorn still retains in VW's senior management. He also continues to serve as chairman of Audi, as well as truck manufacturer Scania, and the new Truck & Bus GmbH into which Scania has been grouped together with Man. It remains unclear if or when Winterkorn might resign from those positions as well, or how his tenure in those posts might affect the company's effort to start over in the aftermath of the scandal in which it is currently embroiled. Also unclear, Reuters reports, is how much, exactly, Winterkorn will receive in compensation after having stepped down from his chair at the head of the VW executive board. His pension is reported at over $30 million, but he could be awarded a large severance package as well amounting to as much as two years' worth of his annual compensation, which amounted to around $18 million last year. Whether he receives the severance pay or not is expected to depend on whether his resignation is considered by the supervisory board to have been the result of his own missteps or independent of the situation that resulted in his resignation. One way or another, he's not likely to go poor anytime soon.
Former Audi chief designer Wolfgang Egger leaves Italdesign
Sat, Dec 27 2014The latest word from the international community of automotive designers has it that Wolfgang Egger is leaving Italdesign, but just where the accomplished designer will land next and who will take his place remain big question marks. Egger is a designer who has bounced back and forth between Italy and Germany over the course of his career. He was born in Germany but studied in Milan. He began his career at Alfa Romeo in 1989 and was named its chief designer by 1993 before being head-hunted by the Volkswagen Group in 1998 to head up the design department at Seat. A few years later he went returned to Italy to run the Lancia design department, and was subsequently renamed to the same post at Alfa Romeo. In 2007 he went back to his native Germany to head up the Audi design office, over which he assumed complete responsibility by 2012, but left Audi in 2013 to run Italdesign. For those unfamiliar, Italdesign is the studio founded by Giorgetto Giugiaro (pictured at left next to Egger) back in 1968 but which, along with many other Italian design houses, fell on hard times in recent years. The Volkswagen Group swooped in to rescue the troubled studio in 2010, turning it into something of an in-house advanced design department to provide an alternative perspective on the direction in which the group and its various brands could take their respective designs moving forward. With Egger now leaving its helm, Italdesign and its German parent company will need to find his replacement, and we're sure they'll announce one in due course. The bigger question on our minds, however, is where Egger himself will head next. Given the path his career has taken to date, we wouldn't be surprised to see him land elsewhere in the Volkswagen Group or find a new role in the expanding Fiat Chrysler Automobiles empire. Then again, Egger could find it time to open an entirely new chapter. Watch this space.
