I purchased the Eurovan last year in hopes of taking the family camping. Unfortunately, due to our busy schedule we have yet to actually use this vehicle and therefore have decided to sell to someone who has the time to enjoy this great camper. The Eurovan is in very good condition. The body is in excellent condition with no rust. The rear bumper does have some damage but is still in generally good condition. The pop top is also in good condition but the previous owner did tear the mesh screen which he had repaired. The interior is also in exceptional condition. The original carpet has always been covered by a mat and is still in excellent condition. Likewise the dash, seats show very little wear. This is a used vehicle so there are minor imperfections from regular wear and tear but overall it is in very good condition for its age. My family is very sensitive to smoke and as far we can tell it has never been smoked in. We have never camped in the vehicle so we have never tested the sink, stove etc. but when I purchased it I was assured everything was in working condition. The cushions etc. are all also in very good condition. The camper will need a good cleaning as it has not been used for some time. The van has not been used since I purchased it last year, I may have driven it 100kms max. The current mileage is 194,914 kms /121,113 miles. In preparation to sell it I had it just gone over by a mechanic, a new safety inspection completed and the oil changed. I replaced the timing belt last year after I purchased it. It starts right up and idles great. I took it for spin on the highway and it works fine. Everything seems to work as it should but keep in mind I have yet to drive the camper a long distance. The camper was maintained through its life. I have the warranty book which show regular oil changes. I am aware the cylinder head was replaced in the past as result of a broken timing belt that is why I installed a new timing belt last year. I have posted a you tube video so you can hear the motor running and I will post additional pictures upon request. I have absolutely no objection to having the vehicle checked out by a mechanic at the purchasers cost as long as the mechanic is local to me. Search YOUTUBE for "1995 Volkswagen Eurovan Camper Walk Around Saint John NB" for the youtube video. I have put on a very low reserve on the camper in hopes of selling it before the snow hits. Otherwise I'll put it in storage and try camping again next year :) Please do not hesitate to ask any questions or arrange an inspection. The camper is located in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada about 60 miles from the Maine border at Calais. Shipping to the USA should not be a problem but is the buyers responsibility to confirm before bidding. Now for the fine print: - Please don't bid if you don't want to purchase or don't currently have the funds to purchase. - The vehicle should be picked up / shipped with in a month of the auction close. If it's longer I will have to charge storage fees because I need to store it indoors during the winter months. - A $300 non refundable deposit required within 48 hours of auction end and balance paid within 1 month. - Shipping is the purchaser's responsibility, I will assist if I can. - All INSPECTIONS MUST BE DONE BEFORE THE AUCTION ENDS. THIS VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD "AS-IS, WHERE IS" CONDITION WITH NO WARRANTY, EXPRESSED WRITTEN OR IMPLIED. ANY DESCRIPTIONS OR REPRESENTATIONS ARE FOR IDENTIFICATION PURPOSES ONLY AND ARE NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A WARRANTY OF ANY TYPE. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER TO HAVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, AND TO HAVE SATISFIED HIMSELF OR HERSELF AS TO THE CONDITION AND VALUE AND TO BID BASED UPON THAT JUDGMENT SOLELY. THE SELLER SHALL AND WILL MAKE EVERY REASONABLE EFFORT TO DISCLOSE ANY KNOWN DEFECTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF LISTING AND AT THE BUYER'S REQUEST PRIOR TO THE CLOSE OF SALE. SELLER ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY REPAIRS NEEDED AFTER THE VEHICLE IS SHIPPED. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. - I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL ALL EXISTING BIDS AND END THE AUCTION EARLY SHOULD THE ITEM NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE FOR SALE.
Thanks!

Ferdinand Piech (1937-2019): The man who made VW global
Tue, Aug 27 2019Towering among his peers, a giant of the auto industry died Sunday night in Rosenheim/Upper Bavaria, Germany. Ferdinand Piech, a grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, who conceived the original Volkswagen in the 1930s, was the most polarizing automotive executive of our times. And one who brought automotive technology further than anyone else. Ferdinand Porsche had a son, Ferdinand (called "Ferry"), and a daughter, Louise, who married the Viennese lawyer Anton Piech. They gave birth to Ferdinand Piech, and his proximity to two Alfa Romeo sports cars — Porsche had done some work for the Italians — and the "Berlin-Rome-Berlin" race car, developed by Porsche himself, gave birth to Piech's interest in cars. After his teachers in Salzburg told his mother he was "too stupid" to attend school there, Piech, who was open about his dyslexia, was sent to a boarding school in Switzerland. He subsequently moved on to Porsche, where he fixed issues with the 904 race car and did major work on the 911. But his greatest project was the Le Mans-winning 917 race car, developed at breathtaking financial cost. It annihilated the competition, but the family had had enough: Amid growing tension among the four cousins working at Porsche and Piech's uncle Ferry, the family decided to pull every family member, except for Ferry, out of their management positions. Piech started his own consultancy business, where he designed the famous five-cylinder diesel for Mercedes-Benz, but quickly moved on to Audi, first as an engineer and then as CEO, where he set out to transform the dull brand into a technology leader. Piech killed the Wankel engine and hammered out a number of ambitious and sophisticated technologies. Among them: The five-cylinder gasoline engine; Quattro all-wheel drive and Audi's fantastic rally successes; and turbocharging, developed with Fritz Indra, whom Piech recruited from Alpina. The Audi 100/200/5000 became the world's fastest production sedan, thanks to their superior aerodynamics. Piech also launched zinc-coated bodies for longevity — and gave diesel technology a decisive boost with the advent of the fast and ultra-efficient TDI engines. Less known: Piech also decided to put larger gas tanks into cars. Customers loved it. Piech's first-generation Audi V8 was met with derision by competitors; it was too obviously based on the 200/5000.
2015 Volkswagen Touareg [w/video]
Fri, Dec 5 2014The second-generation Volkswagen Touareg has been in production since 2010, and is therefore staring down the last part of its model cycle. To keep buyers interested, the company has undertaken a refresh of its upscale midsize SUV. As is typical of these things, the changes include some exterior and interior rejuvenation, as well as increased content levels and a slight uptick in price. The basics of the styling changes are pretty straightforward. The 2015 Touareg can be pretty easily spotted versus the outgoing model by way of its four-bar chrome grille, a cleaner headlight design, bigger VW badge and a completely new lower front clip. (I got one photo of the old and new models side-by-side for my Twitter followers before we rolled out on the drive.) There's also a thin strip of chrome that runs around the bodywork, standard LED taillights and a selection of three new wheel styles and five new paint colors. Inside, I found it harder to spot the changes, old to new. The Touareg's switchgear has been updated and there's a new frame for the infotainment display, but there's no piece that stands out and says "new model year!" Powertrains and mechanical bits all carryover from the 2014 Touareg, too. But there were a few functional changes to the vehicle, primarily in the new Driver's Assistance Package, for me to take note of as I took a lap of my favorite Ann Arbor, MI driving route. Drive Notes Let me start with the newest news then, the Driver Assistance pack. Volkswagen will sell you this suite of safety gear on either the mid-level Lux or the top-end Executive trims, for $2,500. The package included adaptive cruse cruise control, "Front Assist" for emergency braking situations, lane-keep assist and blind spot monitoring. If the contents of that package don't strike you as revolutionary, you're not alone. Some or all of the technologies that are new to the Touareg have been around other showrooms – and other VW family products – for quite a while. Still, they're nice to have as options. All of the driver assistance features that I was able to test worked as advertised, too. The adaptive cruise uses cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors, so it isn't likely to be impacted by inclement weather, which is nice. I also appreciate that the lane-keep assist (which offers the driver a haptic buzz to the steering wheel when straying out of the lane) can be turned off, or turned down in terms of intensity and reaction time.
This month's deals on wheels: 3 cars with incentives, rebates
Fri, Apr 7 2017On television, they come at you rapid-fire: truck deals, car deals, SUV deals. You don't have time to read the fine print, and many sound too good to be true. What follows are three deals that are both good and true. And check out our entire list of incentives and rebates. VOLKSWAGEN JETTA: With Dieselgate winding down and VW's all-new three-row SUV – the Atlas – winding up, Volkswagen is selling sedans with incentives. The Jetta remains VW's bestseller in the US. If you're looking for an immodest deal on modest transportation, you can do worse than a lease on the 2017 Jetta S. THE DETAILS: Purchase at 0.9% APR (no down payment required, available on new 2017 Jetta models financed by Volkswagen Credit, participating dealers only). At that rate, you could save $1,600 over the life of a loan. Offer ends May 1, but given the tepid market interest in sedans, incentives will probably continue through the balance of the model year. NISSAN TITAN CREW CAB: While some buyers will wait for Nissan's recently announced Titan King Cab, and commercial users will grab the regular cab and 8-foot bed, we'll recommend a lightly optioned 4X4 crew cab with standard V8 power, California-penned sheetmetal and a made-in-America footprint. Nissan's full-size pickup is finally a credible competitor in the pickup segment. THE DETAILS: With $3,500 cash back, on top of whatever deal you negotiate, Nissan is effectively reducing the window sticker of a Titan S crew cab by almost 10 percent. MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER: Some cars show up on buyers' radar, some don't. Some aren't anywhere near the radar room. Mitsubishi's Outlander is one of those. But that doesn't diminish its basic attractiveness, especially for young families looking for an affordable three-row SUV with responsive power and competitive features. Add one of the industry's longest warranties and a compelling deal, and you suddenly have reason to track down a Mitsubishi dealer. THE DETAILS: It couldn't be simpler – negotiate your best deal on a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander, and then receive a $2,000 rebate; on a remaining 2016, it's $3,000. We'd select a fully-equipped GT 3.0S – AWC, which hooks Mitsubishi's V6 to a conventional automatic (vs. a CVT on lower-priced models) and all-wheel drive. That's a window sticker of about $34,000, and you can count on an aggressive posture by the dealer to get your business. Mitsubishi Nissan Volkswagen Car Buying Buying Guide Truck SUV Sedan
