For sale is 2011 VW EOS convertible. It comes with 6 spd automatic, power windows, doors mirrors, A/C, cruise, heated seats, iPod hook up, aluminum wheels and ABS. The vehicle has only 19800 miles and it is practically a brand new car. The car is in perfect working condition and it looks like a brand new car inside and outside. As a matter of fact the car is so perfect that I would lower $100 for everything you do not like about the car from my original buy now price. This vehicle does around 35mpg on the highway and around 29-30mpg city driving. However we bought this vehicle from an insurance company and it was damaged on the front, but in drivable condition. We have replaced the hood, radiator support, left fender, headlight and bumper cover. We operate a professional body shop that has been in business of restoring salvage vehicle for over 10 years. We are the largest salvage rebuilder in Charlotte and on one of the largest in NC. We work according to factory specifications and measurements all our cars go thru alignment once they are fixed. Our pictures are taken from close proximity so you can see the car in details. We would also give you a month of warranty on engine transmission and frame of the vehicle with the buy now price of $16700. Also if within this one month the car shows any major mechanical problems and you decide that this deal was not good for you, you can return the car to us and we would refund all the money that you have paid us. We inspect all our vehicles before we list them for sale and we make sure that all the liquids are changed and that everything is in perfect order. We go thru the same list that the dealer would go to certify a vehicle. There is no difference between this car and a certified vehicle from VW. The only difference is the 6-7 thousand dollars in the price. However this car is a good purchase for someone who wants to save a bunch of money and in the same time would not compromise on the quality of the car. We have gone thru all state inspections and the car comes with salvage rebuilt title, meaning that you can register and insure this vehicle in any state without any problems. We have taken 2 picture of the cluster, one showing that all service lights are in place and second when the car is started and you can see that there are no service lights. VW pondering low-cost sub-brand for China?
Wed, 30 Jan 2013More detail is being sketched into the Volkswagen Group's plan to launch a low-cost brand for emerging markets. Late last year a German report quoted a VW rep saying that the brand has been interested in building a no-frills car, the kind that would challenge Dacia and Datsun, for a while. With both Proton and Suzuki effectively out of the partnership picture, a report in Reuters suggests VW could go straight to China, developing a car with its joint venture partners and building and selling it there.
Officially, company CEO Martin Winterkorn said the issue of a model for emerging markets would be decided this year but VW isn't any closer to confirming any kind of plan for a car in its portfolio underneath the Up!, remarking to Reuters about the China possibility, "That's an issue we're currently looking at."
VW invests in QuantumScape for potentially fireproof, long-range EV batteries
Mon, Dec 8 2014VW might be getting ready to push its plug-in technology in a big way thanks to an investment in the battery startup QuantumScape. Key point: the solid-state battery is said to be fireproof and will offer tremendous range advantages. Details are not abundant yet, but according to Bloomberg, VW of America bought a five-percent stake in QuantumScape (and has an option to raise its holding). The tech could "more than triple" the EV range of VW, Porsche and Audi plug-in vehicles as soon as the middle of 2015, according to unnamed sources that Bloomberg talked to. Former Stanford University researchers started QuantumScape in 2010. The bare-bones QuantumScape website (there's nothing there other than some contact information) doesn't offer many hints about what's happening at the company, but GigaOM's Katie Fehrenbacher notes that QuantumScape is licensing tech from the "All Electron Battery" project at Stanford a few years ago. It certainly sounds amazing: [It's] a completely new class of electrical energy storage devices for electric vehicles that has the potential to provide ultra-high energy and power densities, while enabling extremely high cycle life. The All-Electron Battery stores energy by moving electrons, rather than ions, and uses electron/hole redox instead of capacitive polarization of a double-layer. ... If successful, this project will develop a completely new paradigm in energy storage for electrified vehicles that could revolutionize the electric vehicle industry. VW using other manufacturing locations as leverage in battle with TN [w/video]
Sat, 26 Apr 2014We've reached a new step in the ongoing drama at Volkswagen's factory in Chattanooga, TN. The United Auto Workers recently dropped its opposition to the union vote and agreed that it wouldn't hold another ballot for at least a year. Now, the new question becomes where VW is going to build its forthcoming midsize SUV.
Earlier, it had been considered all but certain that the SUV, likely a production version of the CrossBlue concept (pictured above), would be built in Tennessee. However, it seems the Chattanooga factory might have competition to produce it. In emails obtained by The Detroit News, VW's lawyer wrote to the Tennessee economic development department in January saying, "While we understand there are some 'non-deal' issues that are causing a delay in the TN solution, VW has been successful in reaching agreement on terms at the alternative locations."
As previously reported, the state of Tennessee allegedly offered VW about $300 million in incentives to build the vehicle there and create an estimated 1,350 jobs, but it later rescinded the deal. Newly leaked documents from NewsChannel 5 (WTVF-TV) in Nashville allegedly show just how close that offer was to being completed. It appears that VW actually sent the government the first draft of a memorandum of understanding agreeing to the incentives, but the state removed the offer in late January.
