California Volkswagen Cabriolet 29800 Original Miles on 2040-cars

Year:1970 Mileage:29808
Location:

La Quinta, California, United States

La Quinta, California, United States

You are bidding on a rust free original 29800 mile Volkswagen Cabriolet. This is a desert car from LaQuinta, California where the clear title is in my name. This is quite an amazing car, was owned by a local resident who used the cabriolet as a golf car until he could no longer drive. I purchased the car from his family and have never used it, the car is still in the same condition, the paint has a light patina and as far as I,m concernerd it should stay that way so I have done no polishing, detailing or touch ups, this is the way a classic should be kept. Also no detailing means nothing to hide, what you see is what you get. Older records and past titles help document the mileage as well as the sellers family information but I will not warrant the mileage. The car looks like it,s mileage, perfect original interior, the seats show no wear or sag. It has been repainted years ago and still looks great, hard to tell that it has been repainted as it was a professional job. The seals around the hood are getting old and show there age, the top is fine except for a seam separation around the rear window from the California sun. The car starts first turn ,runs perfect with no smoke, smells or strange noises other than the air cooled Volkswagen signature sound. Shifts smooth, stong clutch, newer tires and full service including oil and fluids as well as brakes, the car is very road worthy.Steering and suspension are tight and positive. Has had recent tune up and maintainance from a local shop. Previous owner liked the look of Porsche 356 rims and hubcaps and put them on the vehicle, I do not have the originals. I am a 356 Porsche collector but appreciate a clean unmolested car and this is why I bought this Volkswagen but it just dosent fit in with my collection so off it goes to a new owner. The top shows a split seam above the rear window but does not warrant a new top at all. The car is in Southern California and can be shipped anywhere at the buyers expense but I am more than willing to assist a safe move wherever the destination. I have a low reserve on the car so I am sure it will sell. Any questions feel free to email me and I also have a photoshare with around a 100 detailed pictures to help you decide if this is the car for you, email me for the link if you are serious.

2013 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo Convertible

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

Less Flower, More Power
Pardon our political incorrectness for a moment, but the Volkswagen New Beetle was, undeniably, a "chick car." There was almost nothing that the New Beetle offered to enthusiasts (of either gender), and by the end of its run, VW had even stripped all of the exciting engines from the car's lineup. Looking to resurrect some of the excitement behind the Beetle, the third generation of the iconic car ditched the cuteness when the coupe debuted for 2012, and now the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible aims to show how much fun drivers can have without a top.
Celebrating almost six and a half decades of the Beetle convertible, Volkswagen is offering a trio of distinct special editions that celebrate three of the car's most popular decades (the '50s, '60s and '70s), but as one of the unofficial cars of the 1960s, it would almost be a crime not to test this version, right? Besides, this is also the only special edition to get the turbocharged engine. While our first drive of the 2013 Beetle Convertible was in the fuel-miser TDI variation, our two-week romp in the 2013 Beetle Convertible '60s Edition came just as peak convertible weather was kicking off down in Florida.

VW's Winterkorn tells 20,000 staffers of big cost-cutting plans

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

During a gathering of 20,000 Volkswagen Group employees at company headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany on Wednesday, CEO Martin Winterkorn dropped a bombshell. The boss stated that the automaker isn't operating efficiently enough and admitted the company needs to radically start cutting back to raise its profit margins. To right the ship, Winterkorn has proposed killing off less profitable models and spending less on research and development.
According to Reuters, Winterkorn wants to raise the VW brand's profit margin from about 2.9 percent in 2013 to a target of 6 percent. To make that possible, his plan amounts to increasing cost cutting until Volkswagen reaches about 5 billion euros ($6.7 billion) per year to get things back in order. "Over the short-term, we urgently need more efficiency and higher profit," the CEO said during his speech, according to Reuters.
However, Winterkorn can't make these decisions unilaterally. Volkswagen's works council also has a seat on the supervisory board to represent laborers, and it isn't likely to take the proposed cuts sitting down.

Volkswagen lays off 500 Chattanooga workers

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

The redesigned Volkswagen Passat has been a decent seller since its debut in 2011, but sales have apparently dropped off enough that the automaker is trimming some of the employees from its Chattanooga, TN assembly plant. According to Automotive News, Volkswagen will be cutting shifts and laying off 500 contracted workers in response to slowing sales.
Currently, the plant has three teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Saturday, but starting May 13, this will be reduced down to two teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday. This will be done to reduce dealer inventory (the article says that VW dealers, on average, have a 97-day supply of Passats) and production capacity (currently running at an annual pace of 170,000 units, which is more than the 150,000 annual units the plant was planned to produce).
This, of course, isn't saying that the Passat has been a failure since VW added 200 full-time employees to the plant in February 2012 to keep up with increased demand. The AN article says that automakers frequently overstaff plants during the launch of a new product - or in this case, a new product and a new plant - but eventually reduce the workers as things run smoother and more efficiently.
