Listed for sale is this 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio. The vehicle is in good condition inside and out. The interior is clean, free of rips or stains, and only shows minor wear and tear. The exterior is also in good condition, but does have a small dent on the passenger fender. However, the paint still ha a nice gloss to it. The convertible top had two repairs that were repaired, but not done professionally. However, the top doesn't leak. Please view the pictures closely.
The car is mechanically sound. The airbag light is on due to a sensor, which is common on Volkswagens, but no other issues at all. In fact, the a complete tuneup was just done, as well new brakes being installed all around. The engine and transmission perform perfectly, as well as all the other components. So you can feel safe driving this vehicle anywhere. This is NO RESERVE auction; so the highest bid wins. However, the car is for sale locally; therefore it probably won't last 3 days. North American car buyers get a bit of a slap in the face when it comes to delivery schedules for new the Volkswagen Golf and pumped-up GTI models. We'll just repeat the old chestnut: It's worth the wait... even though it still stinks. This time around, Western Europe is taking deliveries of the new Golf as we speak, and GTI deliveries start between May and July. North America doesn't get the Mk7 Golf or GTI until about July of 2014.
So we approached our first drive of the new GTI with this chip on our shoulder: "You're making us wait? Well, then at least give us the exact car we'll be able to buy. No compromises, mein freund." And so it was that we extracted nearly all of our drive impressions from behind the wheel of what, for the United States, will technically be a model year 2015 two-door Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance with the standard six-speed manual.
VW says it has sold over 100,000 TDI diesels in America this year
Thu, 26 Dec 2013Volkswagen Group of America has lit oil-burning fireworks to celebrate the sales of more than 100,000 TDI Clean Diesel vehicles in the US between its VW and Audi brands this year. According to VW, that means it is responsible for more than 75 percent of diesel-engined cars and SUVs sold here - perhaps not surprising when the two brands offer a total of 12 diesel models.
What might be surprising is that the number of diesels isn't far off the estimated sales of 90,000 battery electric vehicles and PHEVs, with 15,000 of those accounted for by the Tesla Model S, another 12,000 or so being the Toyota Prius PHEV.
VW's keen to play up the ease of making diesel part of your life, stressing that it doesn't need any change to the refueling infrastructure and that "this is a technology delivering real answers to society's concerns about fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions without compromises."
