This is a VW Westphalia Camper painted to look like a pig. We bought it from a barbecue joint about a year and a half ago and drove it to Maine so I could do some section hiking on the Appalachian Trail. It is clean and the inside is comfortable. I will get the mileage from my husband and post a picture of the odometer as well as soon as I get the chance (it's raining here) so this will be updated soon.

It has minor rust in floor panels, needs a new electronic ignition, DOES run and drive. Seats 4. The stove has never been used. Canvas needs some repair but we slept dry even when it rained. (Did not leak on us.) Odometer does not work, but it stopped during our ownership so mileage is pretty close to accurate. Clean, clear title in hand. Shipping is up to the buyer. You can pick it up here or make other arrangements, but once you buy it, it's on you. :) If you have less than ten feedback, please email me when you bid (bearsinger@rocketmail.com). Deposit of $500 within 48 hours of auction close required. MUST be picked up within 7 days of winning bid/auction end. Feel free to email me if you have any additional questions, because this is sold AS IS, WHERE IS. I guarantee it will start and drive off the property. Once it's out of my driveway, it's on you. Parts are easy to get and have had numerous offers. Now I am ready to find the pig its new home and send it on to a wonderful life with you. Would be perfect for restaurant/catering delivery, florist, or festivals. BURNERS will probably LOVE it (after all the police were there this year, you'll be prepared for next time with your very own pig)!

VW midsize crossover production headed for Chattanooga

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

Potential labor woes aside, it looks like Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN factory must have done something that impressed the bosses in Germany, because it sounds like the three-year-old factory is set to score a second model.
The factory currently builds the Passat, and has been in the running alongside VW's Puebla, Mexico factory to build a new crossover vehicle, likely based on the CrossBlue Concept. According to Bloomberg, a pair of unnamed sources have confirmed that Chattanooga is the favorite ahead of an official announcement.
When last we heard about the CrossBlue Concept, word was that a production decision had been delayed over concerns about the three-row CUV's business case. That August 2013 story claimed that a decision regarding the CrossBlue would be pushed back until early in 2014, which means we're ripe for some sort of news, whether good or bad.

Volkswagen Multivan Alltrack Concept takes the luxury van life off road

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Volkswagen dug into its commercial vehicle fleet for its latest Geneva Motor Show concept, blending the versatile body of the T5 MultiVan with a luxuriously appointed interior, 4Motion all-wheel drive and a thrifty diesel powertrain.
That 177-horsepower diesel engine routes its power to the AWD system through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Based on that alone, we'd expect the Multivan Alltrack's behind-the-wheel experience to be somewhat familiar. That all-wheel-drive system and van body contribute to the 21-degree approach and 15-degree departure angles of this soft-roading MultiVan.
What wouldn't be familiar is its exquisite cabin. Volkswagen opted for a nautical theme for the concept's interior, featuring grey-blue leather seats from Poltrona Frau and a floor finished in real wood. The dark wood trim can also be found throughout the interior, running below the windows and on the dash.

VW recalling 2.64M vehicles worldwide over engine, light issues

Thu, 14 Nov 2013

Volkswagen is staging a massive, worldwide recall that's already grown from 1.68 million to 2.64 million vehicles and covers three different issues across a number of vehicles. We already reported on 61,000 Tiguans getting recalled over lighting issues - that was just in the US. Globally, however, VW will be recalling 800,000 Tiguans, according to Automotive News, with the focus on CUVs built between 2008 and 2011. The issue with the Tiguan relates to a simple fuse swap, so this is rather unremarkable, aside from the sheer number of vehicles being fixed. The real, troubling issues relate to gearboxes and pickups.
239,000 Amarok pickups (pictured right) are being recalled over fuel leaks, while 1.6 million vehicles are being recalled to swap the synthetic oil in dual-clutch transmissions with mineral oil. Now, the transmission issue is one for the global Volkswagen Group to address, not just the VW brand - vehicles from Audi, Škoda and Seat use the same seven-speed DSG and are covered under the recall, as well.
Why the switch from synthetic to mineral oil? Apparently, using the synthetic oil in a DSG and then subjecting it to stop-and-go conditions or heavy loads in a hot and humid climate can lead to electronic malfunctions, according to a Volkswagen press release. The switch, from the sounds of it, is largely a preventative measure.
