The unique circumstances surrounding the vehicle you are looking at
makes it the rarest Four Wheel Drive VW's that exists.

While it was built to be driven in the roughest terrains, perhaps it may end up
in a museum or private collection once in a lifetime chance !

It is a 1991 Volkswagen Syncro DOKA TriStar with 49 Original kilometers that equals 30 miles~

Legend from the factory has it that there were only 1500 TriStars ever
built. This was between 1988 and 1991. 1000 of them were 2 Wheel
Drive. Only about 500 were 4 Wheel Drive. Of those 500 4x4's, less
than 120 were 1991's. While most DOKA's stayed in Europe, a few made
their way across the Oceans. One was even special ordered and sent to
Australia, and 19 of them made it to North America.

Well, 18 actually, and here is the story...
In mid 1990 a Canadian mining company contacted VW Germany with their
needs for an off road mining work vehicle and the logical choice for
the terrain they were working in was the Syncro platform. The DOKA fit
the bill because not only was it 4x4, it could haul both cargo and 4-5
people comfortably at the same time. The mining company signed a
promissory note and 19 of the DOKA's were ordered for the operation.
As the story goes, 19 were shipped, but only 18 made it. Now either
#19 fell off the train transport, or #19 caught fire once it arrived.
Both stories are out there. I bet it was both. It fell off the train,
bounced twice, and caught fire. Either way, there went about 6% of the
existing North American DOKA's.

Now these weren't just DOKA Syncros, but they were the Limited Edition
TriStars. Luxury.
This meant they would have the extra door for passengers on the
drivers side that neither the DOKA 2WD or the DOKA 4WD standards had.
As well, only the TriStar had the following options that made it an
even more comfortable and utilitarian ride:
Heated drivers seat
Rear passenger heat
Sliding windows in rear passenger doors
Front seats with arm rests
Grey door to door carpet front, rear and all the way into the storage
bay instead of standard rubber matting
Light grey cloth interior front and rear
Interior "Oh Scheisse!" handles with integral map reading lights
Illuminated vanity mirror on passenger side
Padded dash cover
Heated rear window
Door storage pockets
Map pockets on back of front seats
Additional body insulation for cold weather
Power windows
Rear differential lock
Twin rectangular headlights
Wheel arch trim
And, oh yeah, cup holders. So during the time the vehicles were making their
way across the ocean, the mining company that ordered them came into
some hard times and went belly up. Well VW Canada took those 18 units
and spread them across the country to sell at their VW dealerships
with 1 of them landing at the Toronto location.

the DOKA landed in the hands of
Karl at the Toronto VW Store. Karl knew a fellow that was really into
VW's and collecting cars and motorcycles in general. Freddy was his
name. Still is. So Karl gave Freddy a call and told him what had just
arrived. Freddy popped over to look at it. Freddy had never seen one,
but he knew it was a rare bird and purchased it that day. That was
back in the Fall of 1991.

Knowing it was rare, and even though he lived less than 10 miles from
the dealership, Freddy had it trucked over to his underground storage
space. Freddy hopped in it, drove it into the parking spot, covered it
and that's where it was for 21 years. But Freddy knew how to take care
of his vehicles so every once in a while, he would start it up, and on
a few occasions he shipped it on flatbed over to the dealer and get
the oil changed and have it looked over. All in all, of the 49
kilometers that are on it, he says he put maybe 2 of those km's on the
clock driving it out of the storage spot and on to the flatbed for its
check up. The other km's were VW delivery km's in Germany and in
Canada when it arrived

two additional unique features I never seen. One being
original factory cable connectors to attach and lay the rear gate down
90 degrees (flat) as opposed to having it swing down the full 180. And
finally the bed of the DOKA. This is usually raw painted metal or
covered with Germany's equivalent of Diamond Plate. This DOKA has what
appears to be nice Oak slats running down the bed. . The one
thing I noted was that the entire underside of the vehicle is factory sealed
with a Ziebart like protectant probably in anticipation of the
Canadian weather. the doka has never been registered for the road but have all the paperwork to do so. has legally came fron canada into the united states with all the right paperwork
the DOkA is brand new. still smells new inside. all fluids are changed once a year and lubed. I start it up once a month and let it run tell its warms up .this doka is a great deal I paid 82K for it last summer Iam the 2nd owner

Volkswagen reveals Golf GTI Clubsport concept at Worthersee

Wed, May 13 2015

The various brands under the Volkswagen Group umbrella are bringing a slew of hot hatch concepts to the GTI-Treffen in Worthersee, Austria, this week – but the gathering wouldn't be complete without a version of the headline Volkswagen Golf GTI. And here it is. Previewed with initial details and a trio of design sketches last week, VW has now released a proper array of images showing the GTI Clubsport concept. The enhanced GTI packs an upgraded version of the stock version's 2.0-liter turbo four with 261 horsepower on tap, favorably splitting the difference between the standard GTI with the Performance package and the more potent Golf R. An overboost function even kicks in an extra 10-percent more horsepower to bring peak output up to 287 hp – just a few horses shy of the R's 292, but driving only the front wheels. As you can see, the Clubsport concept also features a more aggressive aero kit as well as upgraded rolling stock with semi-slick rubber. Most, if not all, of these enhancements are earmarked to find their way onto a 40th anniversary edition GTI, but we're unlikely to see that model in US showrooms. World premiere of the Golf GTI Clubsport at Lake Worthersee - Exclusive anniversary model for 40th birthday of the GTI - Golf GTI Clubsport debuts with 265 PS and boost function Next year, the Golf GTI celebrates its 40th birthday. Volkswagen is marking this historic event with a progressive anniversary model: the new Golf GTI Clubsport. Volkswagen will be showcasing the Golf GTI Clubsport on 14th May as part of the legendary GTI meet at Lake Worthersee, when it will make its world premiere in the form of a near-production concept car. With a power output of 195 kW / 265 PS (35 PS more than the Golf GTI Performance) and top performance temporarily increased by around a further 10 per cent thanks to a boost function, the Golf GTI Clubsport is set to take off at the start of 2016 as the most powerful production 'GTI' yet. The anniversary model is being launched not only with an extremely powerful engine, but also with an individualised interior and exclusive bodywork details. The design modifications include a completely new front bumper, new side sills, a new and aerodynamically highly innovative roof-edge spoiler and a specially developed rear diffuser. All of these features were designed with the aim of further enhancing the GTI's performance and of thereby bringing form and function into perfect harmony.

Volkswagen e-Co-Motion concept poised for delivery to Geneva

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

With Nissan getting ready to launch the e-NV200, it appears Volkswagen is looking to go after the same zero-emission commercial vehicle market with the all-electric 2013 e-Co-Motion Concept. Debuting next week at the Geneva Motor Show, the e-Co-Motion Concept might be small in size, but VW says it has cargo and payload capacities that should be perfect for small businesses.
Measuring 179 inches long, 75 inches wide and 77 inches tall, the e-Co-Motion Concept has about the same footprint as the current Golf, and it has a cargo capacity of 162 cubic feet and a maximum payload of more than 1,700 pounds. There isn't too much information on the e-Co-Motion just yet - such as what electric components and platform are used - but the press release posted below states while the concept is shown as a cargo van, future body styles could include a passenger wagon or a refrigerated box van.

Take a listen to the Volkswagen ID 3 and Koenigsegg Jesko

Sun, Dec 15 2019

What could better demonstrate our diametric vehicular future than sound clips of the Volkswagen ID 3 and the Koenigsegg Jesko? Battery-electric vehicles don't make enough noise on their own, so VW partnered with composer Leslie Mandoki for the legally-mandated Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) that warns pedestrians and cyclists of the EV's presence. Mandoki — a German-Hungarian who once played drums in a Euro disco band called Dschinghis Khan — was asked to come up with a sound for the ID 3 that VW said "defines its identity," "radiates safety and the promise of effortless mobility," and that "must also impress with its unique character." The definition of the ID 3's single-motor, 201-horsepower character is this: Occupants and people around the hatch can hear the sound as the car accelerates to 18.6 mph, and when reversing. At higher speeds, the sound of wind resistance and tire noise takes over. As our library of AVAS tones grows, it's clear that EVs will provide a soundscape as varied as that of internal combustion engines. Here, for instance, is the industrial thrum used as the Karma Revero GT's pedestrian warning: And here is the sci-fi soaring from the BMW Vision M Next, as composed by Hans Zimmer: At the other end of the aural chamber, we have the Koenigsegg Jesko. In this case, the composer is a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 running on a bio-ethanol E85 blend that's almost suitable for IndyCar, powering the engine up to 1,600 horsepower. Output on pump gas will be 'only' 1,281 hp. The Swedish automaker released a clip of the exhaust note of a car in progress inside the Angelhom factory. Here's what we can look forward to: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. All these sounds have a place at the table, even if we'd prefer Karma booked some time with a producer and an Autotune session. To paraphrase Sesame Street, though, one of these sounds is definitely not like the other.
