99% Rust-free 1981 Vanagon Project Vehicle on 2040-cars

Essex, Connecticut, United States

Up for sale is a 1981  VW  Vanagon.  I believe I am the second owner of this vehicle that has spent most of it's life in Missouri.  I bought and drove
the Vanagon up from Missouri to get a project vehicle that was rust-free.    There is NO structural rust on this vehicle and it has not been in any accidents according to CarFax.
There is a small spot of  rust on the corner of the windshield and the rear hatch window.
The interior is worn but useable.  I have two good front seats that are from a later model Vanagon that should bolt right in.
The front door seals and window rubbers are worn,  but I have a set of front doors from a later-model vanagon that has very good seals and rubbers that are ready to
install and paint.

A brand new GEX Powermaster engine with all of the performance options was installed (by the local VW dealer) about 5 years ago and has very little mileage on it.
The engine cost me about $3000 and the installation ran about $1300.

Beyond that, here is a partial list of new parts installed as I was working on the restoration.

New Gas tank.    New fuel pump and fuel pump relay.  New brakes.  New brake and clutch master cylinder. New Bilstien shocks front and back.
New Clutch package.  New full coverage rubber front floor mats.  Front Grill.  New battery.   New brake and clutch footpads.
GT Performance Exhaust.  Also included is a header-type quiet pack exhaust.

This is a good solid vehicle that would probably be back on the road with little effort.  What you are bidding on is a good 99% RUST-FREE southern VW with a brand new engine
and many new parts.  This will need to be shipped or picked up locally

German carmakers recall 630,000 diesel vehicles in Europe

Fri, Apr 22 2016

Mercedes, Opel, Porsche, and Volkswagen will recall over 630,000 cars in Europe, according to reports Friday. No diesel car has been able to get under the legal emissions limit in real-world driving, according to a German government investigation. While only Volkswagen Group has been using a specific "defeat device", other carmakers have been playing with their exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems. Depending of the manufacturer, the systems have been cut off at a certain temperature. In a specific test cycle the systems operate to fulfill the legal requirements, but in everyday use the limits are exceeded. According to the magazine Der Spiegel, the supplier Bosch is behind this programming and has provided it to all German automakers. The mentioned carmakers have announced recalls, but many other manufacturers are also mentioned by name in the report, including Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Dacia, Fiat, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Nissan, Renault, and Suzuki. PSA Group, which produces Peugeot, Citroen, and DS cars, declared yesterday that its offices were raided following an emissions investigation. 10 best new car deals in late September 2021

Wed, Sep 29 2021

New car sales were drastically affected in 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but things started to show signs of recovery toward the end of the year before really coming on strong in the early months of 2021. Now there's an ongoing shortage of microchips causing a great deal of pricing fluctuation and a limited supply of certain vehicles. That doesn't mean there aren't still great deals on new cars, though. Using data provided by TrueCar, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best automotive deals for September 2021. WeÂ’ve noted the original MSRP, the average transaction price, and the total savings in both dollars and as a percentage of the original sticker price. Basically, weÂ’ve done all the hard work for you! So now, all you need to do is compare deals, go on a few test drives, and maybe drive away in a great car (and an even better bargain).

TN politicians may push to end VW incentives if plant goes union

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

Volkswagen's Chattanooga Assembly Plant is scheduled to vote on whether to unionize in the coming days, but Tennessee state lawmakers are threatening to deny future tax subsidies to the factory, if the vote is successful. The factory is currently the only Volkswagen plant worldwide that is not unionized.
The states's Republican lawmakers have been particularly vocal against the union vote. Tennessee state senator Bo Watson said during a press conference that VW would have a "very tough time" with future incentives if the vote were successful, according to Automotive News. Tennessee House Majority Leader Gerald McCormick said the "heavy hand" of the UAW is not welcome there. VW has drawn criticism from both sides because it has allowed both pro- and anti-union groups to speak to workers and hand out leaflets.
Roughly 1,500 factory employees will vote on whether to unionize from February 12-14. If successful, the Chattanooga factory would be the first in the US organized under a German-style works council system where white- and blue-collar workers directly negotiate factory issues with the company's management.
