Your bidding on a 1972 Westfalia Camper bus that was bought NEW exactly 42 years ago Today !    Back on March 17, 1972...... It was bought new at Veale in Santa Rosa by miss Trudy Wohlers.....   the 2nd Owner who I bought the bus from mr. John Potter... bought the bus from Trudy on Dec. 7, 1973...... he Paid Trudy $2675, and I have the Cancelled Check !

By the Way... Trudy had paid a whopping  $ 4030.45 , I believe she traded in her '64 Datson, which Veale gave her $1150 as a trade in Value.  Trudy had ordered the bus with a AM Radio which was $79.95 extra. I have the Original dated 8/71 Owners Manual with Trudys name written inside and I have the Original Pink Slip that John got when he registered the bus for the first time on Jan.25,1974....  he must of got a late fee !   ;-0

Ok, time to talk the about the bus...

The bus is a Walkthrough and is very dry, just a few surface rust areas and some pinhole areas on front floor, and a little rust in Passenger corner. Underneath rear floors and Rockers look very nice, Doglegs very nice.

Mr Potter told me he had the bus repainted the one time many many years ago, interior looks pretty Original, some speaker holes ad'd above rear cabinet. A few other small ad on's by mr. Potter.  Recently while the bus lay dormant in mr. Potters driveway , someone backed into rear driver corner, and Mr. potter had a road rage incident where he chased someone down, and actually rear ended them... those are the only 2 dents on the body.

We have spent some hours to get the engine running again and actually drove it around the parking lot...All 4 cylinders are 120-125 psi and we changed all spark plugs and set the timing has best as we could get it . It shifts fine through all gears like it should but the bus will need a Service. We did not touch the brakes or go through electrics, it has been off the road for 7 or 8 years now. Mr. potter and his family were serious campers and they really used this bus allot . They used to camp with 2 adults, 3 childen and a BIG dog.....    I don't think they ever cleaned this poor old bus... it really needs a serious CLEANING.  I will leave that for the new owner .

Driver door panel is off but is in backseat  :-) , rear headliner is starting to come down in one spot, needs glue or something to put it back in place. All cushions and interior seem to be Original, including icebox.

There are a few box's on engine deck that are misc. spare parts and they go with it.

* Forgot to say it does have 2014 Current Calif. Registration

Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding, Euro Bidders are not a problem, the Port of Oakland is an Hour away and I do have a shipper .

Volkswagen looking to acquire Proton, Lotus?

Thu, 26 Jul 2012

Let's say you're an automaker bent on world domination looking to grow your sales. That's going to have you looking at Asian markets, because that's where some of the biggest growth has been, and that's exactly what Volkswagen is doing as it considers making another run at Malaysia's Proton.
Reuters reports that Volkswagen is interested in at least a partial stake, if not a controlling interest in Lotus-parent Proton as a way to continue a production presence in the region without having to build its own factory.
Volkswagen already builds the Passat in a DRB-HICOM facility in Pekan, Malaysia, and plans are in place to build the Jetta and Polo there, as well. With both southeast Asia and its relationship with Proton figuring so importantly in Volkswagen's plans for expansion, buying into Proton can help ensure stability. Volkswagen is being tight-lipped about the whole idea, but CEO Martin Winterkorn did recently say, "it's our clear goal to continue the successful (expansion) course of past years with great dynamics and stability," which sounds an awful lot like deals are on the table to smooth the path to further growth.

Porsche board members facing another ˆ1.8B lawsuit over VW takeover bid

Mon, 03 Feb 2014

Back in 2008, Porsche got the bright idea that it could take over Volkswagen in the midst of the worst economic slump since the Great Depression. Ignoring that this was a catastrophic move for the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer that that eventually resulted in it nearly going bankrupt and eventually being taken over by the same company it sought to control, the aftermath has left Porsche Chairman Wolfgang Porsche and board member Ferdinand Piëch in the crosshairs of seven hedge funds that lost out during the takeover and are now seeking €1.8 billion - $2.43 billion US - in damages from the two execs, according to the BBC.
See, investors bet on Volkswagen's share price going down, partially because Porsche said it wasn't going to attempt a takeover. But Porsche was attempting to take over VW, having bought up nearly 75-percent of VW's publicly traded shares. When word broke that Porsche owned nearly three-quarters of VW (which indicated an imminent takeover attempt), rather than go down like the hedge funds bet it would, VW's share price skyrocketed to over 1,000 euros per share, according to Reuters.
Naturally, when you bet that a company's share price is going to drop and it in turn (temporarily) becomes the world's most valuable company, you lose a lot of money, unless you're able to buy up shares before prices jump too much. This led to a squeeze on the stock, which the hedge funds accuse Porsche and Piëch (who are both members of the Porsche family and supervisory board) of organizing.

VW recalls 25k Jettas over low-beam headlight issue

Wed, Dec 31 2014

Volkswagen has discovered an issue with the headlamps on its latest Jetta and is issuing a recall notice in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to correct the issue. The problem revolves around the headlight control module, which has been found in certain instances to switch off the low-beam headlights when the high beams are turned on. Needless to say, that could result in insufficient illumination in the dark, so VW is moving to update the module's software. The issue only affects the new 2015 Jetta – specifically those manufactured between July 11, 2014 (which just happens to be this writer's birthday, thank you very much) and November 13, 2014. All in all, the Volkswagen Group of America estimates that encompasses 25,007 units in the United States, the owners of which can expect to hear from their dealers in the new year. RECALL Subject : Insufficient Headlight Output Report Receipt Date: DEC 15, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V790000 Component(s): EXTERIOR LIGHTING Potential Number of Units Affected: 25,007 All Products Associated with this Recall close VOLKSWAGEN JETTA 2015 Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. SUMMARY: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2015 Jetta vehicles manufactured July 11, 2014, to November 13, 2014. Due to incorrect software within the headlight control module, the low beam headlights may turn off when high beam lights are turned on. As a result, the light output from the headlights may be insufficient. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108. "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." CONSEQUENCE: Insufficient headlight output may increase the risk of a crash. REMEDY: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will update the headlight control module software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in January 2015. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 57F6. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
