This is a clean solid example of the Vanagon Westfalia. Has normal wear for a vehicle of this age but it has never been in an accident or repainted. Most exterior damage is shown around the rear fenders and the passenger panel in front of the rear fender. Nothing major or too distracting. Clear coat is coming off in selected areas most notably on the front above the headlights. This van is an excellent restoration candidate. Mechanically sound, the engine runs strong and the transmission shifts smooth. I don't know what the mileage was when the engine work was done but the engine does have AMC cylinder heads so either the engine was rebuilt or the heads were replaced. No under carriage rust. Everything functions as it should except the a/c which needs to be charged. I bought the van with the intent to restore and ship to Hawaii but my plans fell through. I have replaced numerous things to get her in good shape.
I upgraded the wheels to 16" alloys with Michelin 215/65/16 tires. It has a center console, front bra, rear bug screen, shady boy awning, Thule rack and new pop top seal kit from GoWesty.
This 1989 model is unusual in that it did not come with power windows,power door locks or power mirrors. I put on the power mirrors as a personal preference but they adjust manually.
Interior is very clean and complete except for rear cushion behind the rear seat.
Front seats swivel, full privacy curtains all around and snap in front windshield privacy curtain included. I don't think the stove was ever used as it still retains the protective film on the back splash. Pop top bed is in excellent condition. The canvas on the pop top had a hole on the driver's side so I patched it with gray marine canvas. It works fine but I planned to replace the top with a new three window model as this original one only has the front screen.

Title was lost but I have had the DMV forms signed and notarized for new owner. CA registration requires $700 in back fees as this was not registered non-op so California bidders keep this in mind while bidding. There are no back registration fees due in any other states.

VW redoes A-ha's 'Take On Me' music video
Wed, 18 Sep 2013Volkswagen has been responsible for its fair share of witty, clever commercials. "Tiny Vader" might be the most popular, but somehow, we think this newest spot will find a big audience. VW delivers not so much a cover, but a reimagining, of 1980s Norwegian pop band A-ha's famous music video for "Take On Me."
The original opens with an animated motorcycle race, which is revealed to be part of a comic book. VW's version replaces the motorcycle with a Passat, which strikes us as an oddly sober choice when there are cars like the GTI and Beetle in VW's portfolio. But never mind that - take a look down below for the entire 46-second spot. For reference, we've also included the original music video. And if you aren't a fan of the musical stylings of A-ha, just think, VW's choice of 1980s music could have been much worse.
Volkswagen Passat gets Wolfsburg Edition, priced from $23,495*
Tue, 23 Apr 2013Volkswagen has just announced a new Passat Wolfsburg Edition, which slots between the base S and mid-grade SE trims in terms of content and price. The automaker has not released any official photos of the car as of this writing (aside from the badge shot you see here, of course), but the Wolfsburg Passat will be visually set apart from the rest by a unique set of 16-inch alloy wheels.
The big host of upgrades for the Wolfsburg Edition are found inside, where buyers will enjoy standard amenities like leatherette seats (with bun-warmers on the front chairs), a power driver's seat, satellite radio and a media interface with iPod connectivity. Of course, this comes on top of the already standard Passat features like Bluetooth and auto on/off headlamps. The Wolfsburg Passat will only be available with the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.

Europeans get first crack at new Golf Variant wagon
Mon, 04 Mar 2013Just last week, when we brought you news of a new Volkswagen Golf variant out and testing in Europe, we had no idea we were being so literal with out description. For it seems that VW has every intention of calling its new Golf wagon, making its Geneva debut, the "Golf Variant."
Odd/interesting sobriquets taken as read then, there's a lot to like about this new small wagon from VW. The Variant will shed some 232 pounds in this generation, and will come to market with two efficient TDI engines. Volkswagen isn't giving us displacement figures for either yet, but we're told the diesels will come with outputs of 110 and 150 horsepower. The 110-hp TDI BlueMotion Varient will be good for a whopping 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle, when mated to the six-speed manual transmission.
The German automaker has brought along an all-wheel-drive 4Motion version of the Gold Variant to bow in Geneva, as well, and a natural gas-burning TGI BlueMotion is said to be "in the pipeline."
