1985 Volkswagen Vanagon Gl Standard Passenger Van 3-door 1.9l on 2040-cars
Grove City, Ohio, United States
1985 VW Vanagon GL (Wolfsburg Edition), all original, rust free Southern truck. Truck was sold new in Greenville, SC and never left the area until I bought it-always garaged. I am 4th owner. Vehicle comes with original owner's manual, service manual, factory repair manual and almost all repair records from day 1. NEW SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT: 6 ply tires (6 ply tires are a safety requirement for a Vanagon), front CV boots, shift linkage CV boot, major tune-up with all fluids replaced, radio w/ 6 speakers, tinted windows, canoe/bike rack, custom storage/glove boxes (removable is desired), bug bra, front seat covers, 3/4" red oak hardwood floors, gauges (Volt meter is only gauge hooked up-others are installed, but not hooked up). NEW WITHIN LAST 5000 MILES: rotors, wheel bearing, axle seals, brake pads, master cylinder, shocks, water pump, steering rack, clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, fly wheel, S&S Porsche header/cat. converter. (receipts for all items). INTERIOR: Excellent condition-no stains or tears, headliner is tight with no tears or stains EXTERIOR: 100% original paint, some small dents, scratches, but shines. All windows work as designed, no leaks 4th owner (all owners verified), rust free. Comes with about $500 of extra parts, including newer muffler/cat. converter, glove box, heater cover, rubber parts, brake pads, etc. I didn't like the carpet so I replaced with 3/4" red oak hardwood flooring. Back seat folds down into a 5'x6' bed-I have the mattress, side curtains. 3 small dents (see photos-bug bra conceals them),and typical window rubber rust in 4 places (see photos). Front heater does not work (switch does), but rear heater will burn you out. Odometer quit working (typical for Vanagons) so I installed an hour meter. This vehicle drives better than new-fly in, drive it home. If you want to ship it, I will assist loading. I can recommend Jim @ 920-342-8060 (JLL Services), covered trailer. No surprises here. I have owned 3 Vanagons, and driven dozens more, this is by far the best I've ever seen/driven. No Pay-Pal- bank check or cash only. If you have less than 100% feedback or less than 5 purchases, call before bidding or I will delete your bid. No warranties expressed and/or implied. Vehicle is for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel bids and end auction at anytime. Ask questions-I will answer and post all answers-there's nothing to hide here. |

Recharge Wrap-up: AutoNation CEO calls anti-Tesla laws unnecessary, Common Pence donates subway money
Thu, Nov 13 2014Volkswagen has presented a list of near-term technologies to improve fuel economy and decrease emissions. The list includes an addition to a coasting function in its stop-start system, a 10-speed DSG transmission and a more power-dense four-cylinder TDI engine. Volkswagen aims to be the world's most sustainable automaker by 2018 through electric mobility, improved design and increased environmental performance from internal combustion vehicles. Volkswagen also announced other technologies for increased interactivity and connectivity in its vehicles. Read more at Green Car Congress. Commence Pence is a system that allows subway riders in London to donate their unused transit money to charity. People visiting the city often load up enough on their subway card (called Oyster Card) to get them through their trip and end up with unused funds leftover. Zander Whitehurst, a British designer, has created a device that can use the card's RFID to accept leftover funds, which then get diverted to charity rather than reverting back to the agency in charge of running the subway fare system. See the video below or read more at Wired. Mike Jackson, CEO of AutoNation has called Michigan's efforts to ban Tesla's direct sales in the state "unnecessary protectionism." The statement comes as a bit of a surprise, as it dissents from the majority of auto dealers who support a franchise model, as well as laws that forbid automakers selling directly to the consumer. "If Elon Musk wants to make a mistake and go with an inefficient distribution system, that's his right as an American," says Jackson, showing he feels he has little to fear from the electric automaker. Jackson has more to say on the matter, which you can read over at Green Car Reports. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. VW readying CC Shooting Brake?
Mon, 11 Feb 2013This was bound to happen. Volkswagen's relentless drive for big volume has the brand mining seemingly every niche it can find for additional sales worldwide. And with its CLS Shooting Brake, fellow countryman Mercedes-Benz has already shown that a wagon based off of a "four-door coupe" can look dead sexy and command extra dollars. So it follows that the Volkswagen CC (whose existence is all but directly attributable to the success of the original CLS sedan) will also get a load-lugging variant. That's according to the UK's Autocar, which notes that the five-door will come in the CC's next generation.
According to the report, the next CC will be available in front and all-wheel drive variants with the usual assortment of gas and diesel four-cylinders found in the Wolfsburg empire, with the possibility of a gas plug-in hybrid model, too. The rakish estate will ride atop VW's MQB architecture, a shorter variant of which is also found underneath the new Golf. The scalable chassis is set to spread like kudzu throughout the company's lineup, but the CC probably won't happen until after the launch of the next European-market Passat in 2015.
Will we get it in North America? Hard to say. Volkswagen sells the standard CC saloon here, but not in particularly large numbers, and when the company moved to a North American-specific Passat, it dumped the wagon variant. The traditional VW estate apparently continues to pick up sales momentum abroad, however, making the CC Shooting Brake a seemingly natural fit for buyers who still want the utility of a two-box form but can afford to sacrifice a bit of cargo room in the name of style.
Automakers want to stop the EPA's fuel economy rules change, and why that's a shortsighted move
Tue, Dec 6 2016With a Trump Administration looming, the EPA moved quickly after the election to propose finalizing future fuel economy rules last week. The auto industry doesn't like that (surprise), and has started making moves to stop the EPA. Ford CEO Mark Fields said he wanted to lobby Trump to lower the standards, and now the Auto Alliance, a manufacturer group, is saying it will join the fight against cleaner cars. The Alliance represents 12 automakers: BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, GM, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Toyota, VW, and Volvo. Gloria Bergquist, a spokesperson for the Alliance, told Automotive News that the "EPA's sudden and controversial move to propose auto regulations eight months early - even after Congress warned agencies about taking such steps while political appointees were packing their bags - calls out for congressional action to pause this rulemaking until a thoughtful policy review can occur." The EPA was going to consider public comments through April 2017, but then said it would move the deadline to the end of December. That means that it can finalize the rules before President Obama leaves office. The director of public affairs for the Consumer Federation of America, Jack Gillis, said on a conference call with reporters last week when the EPA originally announced its decision that it is unlikely that President Trump will be able to roll back these changes. Gillis also said on the same call that any attempt by the automakers to prevent these changes would be history repeating itself. "These are the same companies that fought airbags, and now promoting the fact that every car has multiple airbags," he said. "These are the same companies that fought the crash-test program, and now are promoting the crash-test ratings published by the government. So, it's clear that they're misperceiving the needs of the American consumer." There are more reasons the Allliance's pushback is flawed. Carol Lee Rawn, the transportation program director for Ceres, said on that call that the automotive industry is a global one, and many automakers are moving to global platforms to help them meet strict fuel economy rules around the world.
