1983 Vw Vanagon on 2040-cars
Saint Petersburg, Florida, United States
The time has come unfortunately to offer our second owner baby up for sale. We've had the pleasure of owning her for a couple of years and hate to part with her. As you can tell by the photos she all original and stock as can be. She was purchased brand new in 1983 by a now retired judge and his wife here in Florida. They drove her to Colorado and back to their second home. He always had indoor-outdoor carpet over the original carpet! No floor mats in this baby, we pulled that carpet up and couldn't believe how clean the original carpet was below! The stove has never been used but the fridge has. We have the original rear screen and all curtains, including the front curtains; you will see I draped them over the front seats. D&A VW Auto in Pinellas Park, FL. rebuilt the motor a couple of years ago at 140k miles and she now has only 8k on the rebuilt motor. She is air cooled and runs like a champ, she even has AC! She did start pulling to the left a little which I believe is only due to her needing an alignment. We put new shocks and tires on her last year as well. Newer alpine CD w handsfree bluetooth and new pioneer speakers in the doors and the rear. Pop-top is in great condition w no rips or tears. They also had the van Z-barted (rust inhibitor) as their is no rust underneath her and its still there in multiple places. The only rust spot is in the rear drivers side corner; picture included. She does have a small dent on the passenger side rear bumper that was there when we purchased her. Again, she is all original and as stock as can be. Feel free to contact me with any questions as I can send more pictures via email. Buyer is responsible for shipping and we would like a $1000 deposit thru pay-pal with-in 24 hours or purchase. We are not offering a buy it now price as we would like to see what the market dictates. Thank you and happy bidding! |

Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept still makes us swoon
Fri, Nov 21 2014We know, we know – this hot little guy isn't really new or anything. Volkswagen first rolled out the Golf R 400 concept in Beijing earlier this year, and since its debut, we've heard rumors that the German automaker might-perhaps-maybe-hopefully build the thing. Its showing here in Los Angeles simply marks the first time it's debuting in America, and honestly, we can't get enough. So here it is, again. Hello, Golf R 400 – we love you. And what's not to love? What starts as a normal Golf R gets better with a more aggressive appearance, big wheels, some tasteful neon yellow accents, and a whole mess of power. The original concept packed 395 horsepower from an overblown 2.0-liter turbo-four, though the most recent reports suggest a production version could produce over 400 hp. To keep it all in line, the concept has all-wheel drive. And inside, it's the same functional, comfortable Golf we've always loved. There's nothing left to say, really. We love this car, and you should, too. Check it out in the gallery above.
Volkswagen Routan dead, pour out a sippy cup for your little homies
Thu, 28 Mar 2013America's minivan wolfpack has just gotten smaller by one. According to Automotive News, Volkswagen officials have confirmed what we've suspected for some time - the Routan is dead. Essentially a lightly reworked version of the Dodge Grand Caravan, the Routan actually hasn't been rolling off of Chrysler's Windsor, Ontario production line at all this year, but VW had yet to confirm its discontinuation. However, Jonathan Browning, CEO of VW America, has reportedly admitted that the Routan is being axed, with remaining units expected to be funneled into corporate functions for "internal purposes."
The move isn't unexpected - the Routan has never been a big seller, with just 57,650 examples moved since sales began in 2008 - peak yearly sales totaled under 16,000 units, and that was back in 2010. And while many have talked of the minivan segment shrinking, Automotive News points out that the segment actually grew 14 percent last year to 597,118 units, though it should be noted that most segments have been on sales upticks as the US economy chugs out of its recession.
So, is volume-crazy Volkswagen prepared to pass on large family vehicle sales? Probably not - the German automaker has signaled that it plans to build a three-row crossover in North America soon, and we wouldn't be surprised if it looks an awful lot like the Crossblue Concept from January's Detroit Auto Show - minus the fancy plug-in diesel powertrain.
Volkswagen Passat gets Wolfsburg Edition, priced from $23,495*
Tue, 23 Apr 2013Volkswagen has just announced a new Passat Wolfsburg Edition, which slots between the base S and mid-grade SE trims in terms of content and price. The automaker has not released any official photos of the car as of this writing (aside from the badge shot you see here, of course), but the Wolfsburg Passat will be visually set apart from the rest by a unique set of 16-inch alloy wheels.
The big host of upgrades for the Wolfsburg Edition are found inside, where buyers will enjoy standard amenities like leatherette seats (with bun-warmers on the front chairs), a power driver's seat, satellite radio and a media interface with iPod connectivity. Of course, this comes on top of the already standard Passat features like Bluetooth and auto on/off headlamps. The Wolfsburg Passat will only be available with the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.
Look for the 2013 Wolfsburg Edition Passat to hit dealerships in the very near future, priced from $23,495, *not including $795 for destination. Have a look below for Volkswagen's official press blast.
