This genuine commercial VW Transporter is in a class of its own for practical functionality merged with exotic allure. A pleasure to drive with unsurpassed maneuverability, it is a highly desirable model even in Europe. It is a real collectors item and classic car in beautiful original shape that still has many years remaining of reliable service and wide-ranging utility. The siren and warning light systems are sensational at events and highly useful off public roads. LT stands for Leicht-Transporter, Light-Transporter. It was created in the late 70s as a slightly larger model than the T3 VW Bus series. It was never exported by VW to the US due to its commercial rating. This particular van has a very clean interior with factory assembly line code tags, VIN plates, service placards, window stickers and original owners manual map all still in place. It was always babied and meticulously maintained by the Rauenberg Fire Department in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany and has barely been used since arriving in the US. The second owner shipped this Transporter from Germany then was unable to register it due to California non-compliance with EPA regulations. California only exempts carbureted vehicles manufactured prior to 1976. This commercial VW van can easily be registered in most states including Nevada, Oregon and Washington which follow US DOT/EPA regulation that allows the use and registration of any vehicle that is at least 20 years old. 2015 VW Golf R ready for your pre-order on January 8
Mon, Dec 22 2014If you want to be the first person on your block with Volkswagen's latest Golf R parked in your garage, you need to clear some time from your schedule on January 8. On that day, VW is opening the pre-order books for the first 500 Stateside examples of the new hot hatch, and they come with some neat accessories, too. Don't worry about specing just the right Golf R because all 500 early models are identical. In addition to the obvious 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 292 horsepower 280 pound-feet of torque and 4Motion all-wheel drive, the six-speed dual-clutch gearbox is the only option here. Every one of these hot hatches comes in Lapiz Blue Metallic paint with 19-inch wheels covered in summer performance tires. Based around the DCC and Nav trim, each of them also has VW's adaptive damper system, bi-xenon headlights with LED running lights, a Fender audio system, parking sensors and navigation. Beyond just being the first ones to own VW's latest hot hatch in the US, the deal for these 500 folks also includes a Volkswagen R watch, carbon fiber and stainless steel keychain and a certificate. All three items are serialized to match the VIN of the buyer's Golf R. The total price for each one of these 500 Golf R's is $39,090, plus $820 destination and delivery. But potential buyers don't have to come up with all of that on January 8. They just need to visit VW's Golf R site and pay a $500 reservation fee to get in line, which goes toward the purchase of the car. The money is refundable for anyone who backs out, and any additional orders are put on a waiting list in case of any cancelations.
Volkswagen Group previews its wares on eve of Geneva show

So the best way to show off the range of the VW family is to cram a few thousand journalists and VIPs into a massive makeshift stand to outline the Group's goals, what's in the pipeline and what you'll be able to buy later this year.
To that end, VW pulled out all the stops on the eve of the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, bringing along 10 vehicles from across the range. We'll be delving into the details of each over the next two days of show coverage, but before that happens, you can read all about what we saw tonight from the cheap seats after the break.
Volkswagen Golf R wagon promises to be fast and functional [w/poll]
Tue, 25 Mar 2014Volkswagen's array of performance-oriented Golfs keeps getting bigger and bigger. What started with the GTI has since grown to include the diesel GTD, the hybrid GTE and the most powerful Golf R. But the additions haven't all come down to powertain. There's been cabrio versions of the GTI and Golf R as well, but before all is said and done, there will be one more bodystyle to join the lineup.
That, according to these latest spy shots, would be the Golf R Variant. For those unfamiliar, Variant is what Volkswagen calls the wagon version of the Golf (in some markets, anyway). It offers the Golf Variant with a variety of engines, but as the spy shots reveal, it is now working on bringing the Golf Variant and the Golf R together into one high-powered, long-roofed model.
The VW Golf R Variant would in all likelihood pack the same 2.0-liter turbo four as the hatchback, splitting 290 horsepower between all four wheels. Only in the wagon, it would offer that extra bit of utility. Of course there's no guarantee that Volkswagen would offer the Golf R Variant in the North American market, but considering that the Golf R hatchback will soon be joined in American showrooms by the Golf SpotWagen (as it's tipped to be called here) in place for the Jetta wagon, the possibility is definitely there.
