1974 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper Van Vw Poptop 2.0 Liter Automatic Runs & Drives on 2040-cars
Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States
Up for auction today we have a 1974 Volkswagen Westfalia Campmobile. This bus had the engine rebuilt 5 or 6 years ago and was then parked due to leaky heat exchangers. The engine is very clean and looks to be fairly fresh. When the engine was rebuilt it was upgraded to a 2.0 Liter. We recently had all the fuel lines replaced and the carbs rebuilt. The bus starts right up and runs good once its warm. The battery has also been replaced within the last 30 days. The brakes work well but have not been gone through by us. The front has disc brakes and the rears are drums. The interior on this bus is in very respectable condition. We sent it to a professional detail shop right after we got it and it cleaned up very nice. The upper bunk area pads are missing but the rest of the interior is there. The canvas top has some holes in it as shown in the photos where mice chewed through the top. The curtain rods and curtains are there but are not shown in the photos. The curtains are in OK shape but have some holes and water stains. The gas gauge is not currently working. The front rubber floor mat is also missing. The bus has the matching footstool and childs cot that mounts over the front seats. This is a running driving project that still needs some work to be nice. There is a fair amount of rust in the outer rocker panels but the floors and structure of the frame are solid. Take a good look at the photos as we have tried to photograph the good, the bad and the ugly. Should be no surprises on this one. The heat exchangers on this bus seem to be leaking. We attempted to hook up the heater but there was a lot of exhaust coming in with the heat. There is also a lot of smoke that seems to be coming up through the air inlet when the bus is stopped. I believe this smoke is coming from the leaks in the heat exchangers. We haven't tested any of the camper accessories. Bid with confidence and bid to win. We are happy to help on our end with International buyers but shipping costs and arrangement are the responsibility of the buyer. We realize it may take a couple weeks to arrange your shipping and can store the bus inside our warehouse until you get your shipping worked out. Thanks for checking out our auction and good luck bidding. Check below for a youtube video tour of the bus. Please feel free to call with any questions you have about the bus. Jeremy. Skoda plans big investment into electric cars as part of rebound effort
Wed, Mar 24 2021PRAGUE — Czech carmaker Skoda, part of the Volkswagen Group, said on Wednesday it would invest around 2.5 billion euros over the next five years on future technologies, with more than half going to electric vehicle investment. The Czech Republic's largest exporter is hoping for a rebound in 2021 from a global car sales drop but faces uncertainty over the coronavirus pandemic and a semiconductor shortage rattling the industry. "This year is likely to be another big challenge," finance director Klaus-Dieter Schuermann said. "We expect Skoda Auto's group performance to improve, with sales revenue significantly above the level of last year." Skoda reported on Wednesday a 54.5% drop in 2020 operating to 756 million euros ($894 million). Sales revenue dropped 13.8% to 17.1 billion euros. Global deliveries remained above 1 million cars for a seventh straight year despite a 19% drop after production outages at the outset of the pandemic and a fall in China, its biggest single market. Chief Executive Thomas Shaefer said the car company was managing the semiconductor shortage "but it will follow us for awhile" and the impact was not visible yet. Skoda's core market in Europe would be electric in the future, Shaefer said, although it was still not time to completely switch away from traditional models, which include the launch last year of a new generation of its flagship Octavia model. It has also started production of the all-electric Enyaq iV model, which is a version of Volkswagen's ID.4. Skoda plans investments of 1.4 billion euros into electromobility development as part of its five-year investment plan. Investments will also go into digitalization activities and plant modernization. Related video: Green Volkswagen Skoda Electric
New investor allows Suzuki to fend off VW
Tue, Aug 4 2015After years of legal wrangling, the long-soured partnership between Volkswagen and Suzuki looks finally to be coming out of arbitration, according to Bloomberg. As a sign of the Japanese brand's improved fortunes, hedge fund Third Point LLC recently bought an undisclosed stake in the company. The investor reported seeing a major opportunity in the successful Maruti Suzuki business in India. As an investment, the only major problem that Third Point found with Suzuki was its legal battle with VW. "The company's greatest asset is its low-cost manufacturing process for vehicles for the emerging market consumer," the fund said in a letter, according to Bloomberg. Third Point reportedly also wants a seat on Suzuki's board, despite being a minority shareholder. The alliance between Suzuki and VW goes back to late 2009. In the deal, the Japanese brand was meant to get access to cutting-edge tech, and the German firm got a helping hand towards better establishing itself in India and Southeast Asia. Things didn't go as planned, though. Less than two years later, Suzuki's boss publicly derided the deal. Eventually, the allegations started going back and forth, and the two have been working out a way to untangle practically ever since. Among the biggest issue has been how to get back the 19.9 percent stake that VW purchased. According to Bloomberg, the arbitration is now technically over. With the divorce nearly final, the two sides are just waiting on a decision on how to split things up. Suzuki may even just buy VW's stake to get the shares back.
VW builds 250,000th Passat in Chattanooga in just two years
Sun, 26 May 2013It hasn't been without incident or union organizing drive, but the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, TN has built its 250,000 Passat in just a little over two years. The Night Blue Passat TDI with black leather has come just two years and five weeks after the first customer car came off the line on April 18, 2011.
In the last year the plant operated at the 150,000-unit capacity that it was intended for, but the downturn in Passat sales and subsequent worker layoffs mean it will be a challenge to repeat the feat. The plant does have the world's largest solar park, though, and you can't take that away from them.
You'll find the official hand-clapping in the press release below.
