1972 Volkswagon Vw Bus, Vanagon, 1 Of A Kind! Custom 1.9 Turbo Diesel Vw Aaz Eng on 2040-cars
Olympia, Washington, United States
Thanks for checking out my Turn Key 72 Bay Window Bus, It's ready to hit the highway for a road trip! Everything has been gone through on this bus! All new electrical wiring, and
fuel system replaced, as well now has a low mile (30k) 1.9 Turbo Diesel engine
purchased from Quality German Auto Parts, they are a direct importer of VW replacement parts. . This is the highly sought
after AAZ engine code. Has completely rebuilt and tuned Bosch
injection pump, as well as new Bosch fuel injector nozzles, all pop
tested and ready for a long service life. Also worth mentioning, new
alternator has about a year on it, but only about 1500 miles of driving, changed Timing Belt, and tensioner at pump
install, new battery, new clutch/pressure plate/ flywheel/ pilot bearing, new tires, brakes are great, new seals about a
year ago, all of the doors open and close really smooth and nice. I
also have 2 new black vinyl seat covers for front seats, that are not
installed, but included. Now that we finally have a break from the rain
coming for a couple days here, Ill get better pictures, and a lot more of
them. this is the only diesel bus I know of, and using all Factory Vw
engine/bellhousing/transmission/flywheel, no cheesy adapter plates of
any kind. Has all new Torqu Flo electric cooling fan, with temp switch,
nice AutoMeter boost gauge, engine is tuned now to about 15 lbs of boost. Runs
awesome, get stopped everywhere I go in it now. Best part is an easy
veggie burner conversion, and can help with that if paid in full. Only
selling after all of this work due to changing careers and raising funds
for start up. Thanks for checking it out. Oh, and gets about 35 miles
a gallon in town, and am going to be driving it this week while its
nice and going to get a recorded highway mileage average too. I don't drive it in the rain. Would be a perfect
cross country trip rig! or Maybe pull your Ghia to the track? Let me
know if your interested. Sorry again for current pics, I will get more
soon. Engine bay was all sanded and primed,
sanded again, and painted white/black, and has reflective backed wool sound
deading material on the underside of the rear deck to keep the clickity
clackity to the tailpipe and not in the cab, very quiet inside as normal. These engines came stock in VW Golfs, Jetta's, Passats, and many more, and have been a very popular swap in Vanagons, and many light 4x4 Conversions. Not hard to see why, with there great fuel mileage, and longevity, many on the road with over 300k miles on them and running perfect. I have done over a dozen diesel conversions, and as you can see, I keep everything as simple as possible, and tastefully clean. The floors are solid, and look new under the rubber floor mat, overall a really nice van, there are minor paint imperfections that you can notice up close, but just normal rock dings or what have ya. Nothing major by all means, but do not want to give the impressions it is a show quality trailer queen, but definitely an above average nice cruiser. Also, has all new wood slat luggage rack installed.

Volkswagen debuts MkVII-based diesel Golf GTD
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As Volkswagen prepares for the launch of the seventh-generation Golf, it continues to show off some of the car's different variants. With the standard Golf and the ultra-efficient BlueMotion Concept out of the way, now we're finally starting to see some of the sportier versions planned for the hatchback. Confirmed for a debut at the Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen has now given us our first glimpse at the Golf GTD.
Just think of the GTD as a diesel version of the GTI with all the handling and styling upgrades, and then add a torquey engine to the equation. (We had the chance to sample the current GTD over the summer, so click here to read more.) To go with the new body style, VW also gave the GTD a new TDI engine consisting of a similar turbocharged and direct-injected 2.0-liter inline-four layout but with an output of 184 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque - that's an increase of 14 hp and 22 lb-ft over the current GTD. That's a pretty good oomph, but the GTD won't be setting any acceleration records with VW quoting a 0-62 mile per hour time of 7.5 seconds thanks to the car's 3,036-pound curb weight.
The styling of the MkVII Golf lends itself quite well to the more aggressive body kit found on the GTD (and likely matching the GTI). The new front fascia and blacked-out grille give the GTD a sporty look up front, while 17-inch sport wheels, rocker panel extensions and smoked LED taillights finish off the visual changes. The GTD will only be offered in three exterior colors: Tornado Red, Black and Pure White. As expected, the interior gets the plaid seat inserts and flat-bottomed sport steering wheel, but the car also gets stainless steel pedals, a black headliner, ambient cabin lighting and a specific gauge cluster readout.
VW modular platform strategy goes all-in on EVs
Tue, Jan 7 2014The Volkswagen Group has already revealed or put on sale a broad slate of new electric vehicles: the E-up, the E-Golf (shown above), the Porsche 918 Spyder, the Panamera S E-Hybrid and the XL1. In 2014, there will be at least six more models, including the A3 Sportback E-Tron. And after that? Well, to hear Rudolf Krebs, Group Commissioner For Electric Vehicle Drive Systems, tell it, VW's future is full of plug-in goodness. "With our platform strategy, it is quite easy to bring a lot of electrified vehicles to the market for the different brands in a very short time," he said. "We try, with a minimum of those components, to produce a maximum number of variants of cars" That strategy starts with three platforms: MQB for small cars, MLB for midsize models and MSB for sporty and premium products (there's also the NSF for cars like the E-up). Speaking to AutoblogGreen, Krebs said VW has designed modules, things like engines and electric components (think: AC compressor, on-board chargers and battery management systems), to be used across all three platforms and across all brands all. "We try, with a minimum of those components, to produce a maximum number of variants of cars," he said. "This is only possible if, at an early stage of the design of new vehicles, we implement the idea that these cars are not only designed for gasoline and diesel powertrains but that we can also include CNG concepts, flex-fuel concepts, pure electric vehicles or plug-in hybrid vehicles. With minor changes in the body in white, we can produce those vehicles, bumper-to-bumper, in one factory." "VW wants to be the leader in the electrification of vehicles" In this way, customers can choose the powertrain that they want, or whatever powertrain their local regulations demand. Politicians have already put a lot of pressure on the automotive industry, with ever-stricter CO2 regulations coming into effect in all of the major markets. In the US, the fuel economy regulation numbers require the equivalent of 101 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer by 2025. Europe, it's 95 grams by 2020. And China, which is asking for 118 grams by 2020, will be a tough scenario, Krebs said. Today, by optimizing conventional technologies and supporting things like CNG and biofuels, more than 300 VW Group models emit less than 120 g/km. A hundred of those are even under 100 g/km. But this is not sufficient, and VW admits that conventional powertrains will not be not enough.
