1970 Volkswagen Westfalia! Low Reserve!
Bus is in great condition and ready for camping. Since I have owned the bus, I have done the following:
New exterior paint, (original Pearl White color)
New pop top canvas by Go Westy
New front seat covers by TMI
New 215/70/14 tires with a mildly aggressive tread for off road driving
New wheel cylinders on all four wheels, new shoes, and resurfaced drums
New rubber on both front doors, rear hatch, and engine lid
New rear window, new window rubber on rear window and front windshield. (front windshield does have a small star in the lower passenger side, which has been professionally sealed)
New front, rear, and side lenses, headlight rings, hub caps
New laminate floor in camper area. Front and rear floors are excellent.
Misc. new odd and ends, seals, and parts.
Motor is a 1600 single port, that runs very strong. Just had it tuned and a compression test showed 145, 140, 140, 140 at each of the four cylinders! You can drive this bus anywhere!
Original blue plates still on the bus. it is currently registered till 2014 and I have clear pink slip in hand.
Bus has original Westfalia z-bed and jump seat, however, they have been recovered in black vinyl (before I owned it). I also has the original ice box and sink, which works. it is missing the wardrobe closet and headbanger cabinet.
Bus has an Alpine CD player with detachable face plate. Nothing special, but at least it is something to listen to on the long road trips.
Bus has both the upper fold out cot and the front childs cot for over the front seats. Both have been recovered in a blue denim (before I owned the bus). They are in great shape and very sturdy.
Bus has aftermarket curtains (installed before I owned the bus). They function well, but have faded from sun exposure. I also have a rear bug screen that allows you to keep the rear hatch open for ventilation.
If you want a great looking bus and to have a lot of fun and adventures, this is the bus for you. Thanks for looking.
Buyer is responsible for shipping and a $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of winning the bus.

VW Up Buggy may be headed to showrooms
Tue, 02 Jul 2013Volkswagen showed six conceptual takes on its Up at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, one of those being the Up Buggy. Although few will probably remember it, VW has not forgotten it, applying for a patent for the Meyers Manx revival roadster way back in March 2012 and being approved in June of this year, according to a report in Autocar. That will give the automaker a 14-year lock on the design while it decides whether to move forward with a reboot of its past.
A patent doesn't mean the Up Buggy will ever move beyond the sheet-of-paper stage, but Autocar says VW is studying the market to see if a production version is feasible. We can't see North America ever getting it, but even so, we wouldn't complain if they made it - especially if they put an exposed engine in back that was set off by 18-inch-long twin tailpipes jutting straight up into the air. However, for a company that aims to be the world's number-one automaker by 2018, a niche vehicle for its mass-market brand would be a surprising use of resources.
Volkswagen offers Beetle Classic, priced from $20,195*
Tue, 23 Sep 2014The current Volkswagen Beetle already tries to be a fairly retro-looking ride by cribbing styling elements from the iconic original. However, for the new, limited-edition Classic model, VW is hopping into the time machine to grab even more vintage cues. The company is even cutting the price, perhaps in hopes of turning around flagging sales this year. You don't need to wait long for any of these upgrades either because the automaker says that the Classic goes on sale this week for $20,195, *excluding the $820 destination charge. That's $100 less than a bone-stock Beetle.
Starting as a standard Beetle with VW's 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 170 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, the Classic edition comes with a six-speed automatic and then adds some retro flair. It includes new vintage-look 17-inch wheels with simulated dog dish polished hubcaps over black spokes. It also comes with a rear spoiler, and the automaker is offering the model in Pure White, Black Uni, and Reflex Silver.
The interior mixes in a few more classic touches but includes modern amenities like a standard navigation system, satellite radio and multifunction steering wheel. However, the seats are finished in a two-tone design combining light brown leatherette on the sides and checked cloth centers, plus lumbar support for the driver's side. The shift knob and handbrake also get wrapped in leather.
Anti-union group files lawsuit against VW and UAW
Fri, 14 Mar 2014The fight for unionization at Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN, factory isn't letting up. Yesterday, the National Labor Relations Board decided to allow anti-United Auto Workers employees at the plant the right to defend voting down the measure. Now, a group called the National Right to Work Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of five workers against VW and the UAW for allegedly working together to organize.
The group says in a release that it wants "to block further collusion between the company and the United Auto Workers." It alleges that VW forced workers to attend "mandatory pro-union meetings" and prevented managers from opposing. In a rebuttal on its website, the UAW called the claims "baseless" and said its actions were entirely legal.
One possible problem faces the carmaker in regards to the lawsuit. According to the Detroit Free Press, a recent US Court of Appeals ruling found that neutrality agreements like the one the business had with the UAW could be illegal if the company provided "things of value" to the union. The newspaper also claims that VW held a mandatory employee meeting concerning the election, but workers were free to leave during the UAW's presentation.
