1968 Volkswagen Westfalia on 2040-cars
Belle Plaine, Kansas, United States
Restoration just completed on this extremely Original Rust Free Lotus White 1968 Volkswagen Westfalia! This was a very rust free bus prior to restoration. The only new metal that was required was a patch panel for the passenger side cabin floor, this was purchased from "Bus Depot" and professionally installed. This bus spent its life in Dry Oklahoma before I purchased it for Restoration. Starting from the ground up, this bus is riding on Brand New tires with less than 500 miles on them. The tires are mounted on powder coated rims that were painted the same factory color of Lotus White as the bus. The rims are sporting Brand New Early Dome VW hub caps. The interior of the bus is in exceptional condition. All of the camping components work as they should except the sink which has a crack and I was unable to source one during the restoration. However, the icebox seals nicely and works perfectly. The Westfalia cabinets open and close as they should as do all of the windows and doors. This bus also received new sub floor and flooring during the restoration. The sliding door works perfectly and the upper and lower tracks are in great condition. The front seats are in wonderful shape and free of any rips or tears as are the rear cushions. This bus also comes with the rear laundry net as well as the childs cot that goes across the cabin. The downstairs bed sleeps two adults comfortably on the Z-bed while the upstairs cot sleeps one on a cot that is in great shape with good canvas. The pop top canvas tent is brand new and was also professionally installed. The cabin area is very clean, all of the gauges and lights, wipers, turn signals function as they should. This bus is powered by a very strong running dual port 1600 motor that received an extensive tune-up during the restoration including new distributor cap/rotor, plugs, oil change, etc...This bus starts first turn of the key every time! I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere! The bus also has new brakes all the way around and the transmission shifts smoothly through all of the gears. This is a very tight driving bus. This bus also received a brand new windshield and lots of new rubber seals including the front and rear windows as well as new rubber seals around the front turn signals and rear tail lights. Now onto the exterior of the bus. The pop top and luggage rack were removed, repainted and new bottom seals were installed. The bus was prepped for paint, primered and painted with three coats of the Original Factory color of Lotus White. Then the bus received two coats of clear and was buffed to the shine that you see in the pictures! I have included some pictures of the restoration process but have many more available upon request. This bus is gorgeous, the pictures don't do it justice it is ready for camping or VW shows. Please don't hesitate to call or email with any questions regarding the bus. Shipping and all associated costs are the responsibility of the buyer but I can assist as I have shipped vehicles all over the world. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Please call Dave at 316-299-1596. Clean and Clear title in hand.

VW XL1 priced at $169,000 in UK, only 30 will be sold there
Wed, Jul 2 2014Volkswagen has announced the pricing of its XL1 diesel plug-in hybrid for the UK, according to Car magazine. The small, uber-efficient two-seater will start at GBP98,515, or roughly $168,930 at current exchange rates. Additionally, only 30 units of the XL1 will be sold throughout the UK, giving it a rareness appropriate for its lofty price. It's nice to finally be able to stop speculating about the XL1's price. Even as recently as the first XL1 delivery in Germany, we were still mostly in the dark concerning the cost of the slippery VW. But is the price worth it, especially considering that the much sportier BMW i8 can be had for just a bit more (GBP99,895, or $171,460, in the UK)? Car seems to think so, noting that the XL1 is an eco and technology pioneer, and saying that its cost of ownership is "merely the price of progress." Plus, that includes the bragging rights of owning the world's most fuel-efficient car. The XL1's two-cylinder turbo-diesel engine displaces just eight-tenths of a liter and produces 47 horsepower. The internal combustion engine operates alongside a 26-horsepower electric motor powered by a 5.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Despite its 2.64-gallon fuel tank, the XL1 has a maximum driving range of over 700 miles thanks to a 261-mpg rating (based on the European cycle). Unfortunately, we won't be able to do any bladder-busting, nonstop Chicago to DC road trips any time soon, as VW has no plans to bring the XL1 to North America - not that one would relish the experience of dicing it up with America's massive trucks and SUVs. If you want to drive one, you'll have to go to Europe, and you'd better have a very large piggy bank you're prepared to break open.
Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?
Sun, Jul 9 2023The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric. Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands. If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla. Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor. Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have: Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.
