After much thought, I have decided to list my 1965 VW Bus for sale. It turns heads everywhere and brings lots of attention. It is affectionately known as "Surf Patrol". Born in Hawaii, I have restored this with an island theme even with two murals on the underside. I love the islands and can imagine this bus as the perfect vehicle to drive around and check out beaches. I will constantly try to update the listing as often as I think of more to add but I am not under any pressure to sell. I did not make it to the last 3 shows that I wanted to attend which are part of the reason I am listing the bus. I think that even though I love this bus, there might be someone out there that will love it the same and have more time to take it out. With my oldest in high school sports and my youngest in middle school sports, time is hard to come buy and I love going to their games. There are some little things here and there that still need attention, but it is a great bus. This bus is stored 100% of the time in my locked garage. I also will include the car cover. Some of the features are as follows: 2387 cc Bergmann engine-hydraulic valves (don't need adjustment), dual empi carbs, remote oil cooler, braided oil lines,-dyno'd at 166hp, A-1 sidewinder exhaust (ceramic coated), 1.5qt additional oil sump, breather box, ragtop, modified roof rack to fit in the garage, custom gauge panel in dash, chrome 5 spoke empi wheels, Rancho Performance pro street transmission powdercoated in mercedes silver, new gas tank, headlights, turn signals, Banjo steering wheel, restored middle seat, (previous owner didn't have the middle seat, they had a table) seat belts throughout, new rear end, dual master cylinder, safari front windows and side pop out windows, custom interior carpeting, interior panels and drapes. I do have receipts for nearly everything since I have owned the bus. I do have the stock wheels that match the bus though they need some attention. I also have the original rear drums and lots of other vw stuff that I will package up and send with the bus. (oil change gaskets, misc gaskets, misc parts, etc) I do reserve the right to end this auction early as it is for sale locally as well. I will not be disclosing the reserve price either, so don't both asking. I will relist if it doesn't sell and will be adding to the listing as necessary, either pics or descriptions. In the event of a sale, I will hold title until payment is made in full. If payment is not received within 7 days, I will re-list the bus. |

VW redoes A-ha's 'Take On Me' music video
Wed, 18 Sep 2013Volkswagen has been responsible for its fair share of witty, clever commercials. "Tiny Vader" might be the most popular, but somehow, we think this newest spot will find a big audience. VW delivers not so much a cover, but a reimagining, of 1980s Norwegian pop band A-ha's famous music video for "Take On Me."
The original opens with an animated motorcycle race, which is revealed to be part of a comic book. VW's version replaces the motorcycle with a Passat, which strikes us as an oddly sober choice when there are cars like the GTI and Beetle in VW's portfolio. But never mind that - take a look down below for the entire 46-second spot. For reference, we've also included the original music video. And if you aren't a fan of the musical stylings of A-ha, just think, VW's choice of 1980s music could have been much worse.
VW readying CC Shooting Brake?
Mon, 11 Feb 2013This was bound to happen. Volkswagen's relentless drive for big volume has the brand mining seemingly every niche it can find for additional sales worldwide. And with its CLS Shooting Brake, fellow countryman Mercedes-Benz has already shown that a wagon based off of a "four-door coupe" can look dead sexy and command extra dollars. So it follows that the Volkswagen CC (whose existence is all but directly attributable to the success of the original CLS sedan) will also get a load-lugging variant. That's according to the UK's Autocar, which notes that the five-door will come in the CC's next generation.
According to the report, the next CC will be available in front and all-wheel drive variants with the usual assortment of gas and diesel four-cylinders found in the Wolfsburg empire, with the possibility of a gas plug-in hybrid model, too. The rakish estate will ride atop VW's MQB architecture, a shorter variant of which is also found underneath the new Golf. The scalable chassis is set to spread like kudzu throughout the company's lineup, but the CC probably won't happen until after the launch of the next European-market Passat in 2015.
Will we get it in North America? Hard to say. Volkswagen sells the standard CC saloon here, but not in particularly large numbers, and when the company moved to a North American-specific Passat, it dumped the wagon variant. The traditional VW estate apparently continues to pick up sales momentum abroad, however, making the CC Shooting Brake a seemingly natural fit for buyers who still want the utility of a two-box form but can afford to sacrifice a bit of cargo room in the name of style.
Volkswagen hatches hotter GTI in Geneva
Tue, 05 Mar 2013The all-new seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf hasn't even launched here in the United States, but over in Geneva, we're already getting our first glimpse at the hotter GTI hatchback. The fancy new Mk VII Golf is already off to a healthy start with positive reviews in Europe, and we have no doubt that this next GTI will work hard to regain its title as king of the hot hatches.
The big news for this generation of GTI is that for the first time ever, Volkswagen is actually offering two different power grades for the model, both relying on the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four. Standard cars pack 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, but an optional performance pack ups the horsepower number to 230. Hitting 60 miles per hour takes 6.5 seconds (6.4 with the performance pack) and top speed is quoted at 153 mph (or 155 with the performance kit). Volkswagen will continue to offer the GTI with both six-speed manual and dual-clutch transmissions.
On the visual front, the sub-3,000-pound GTI adds the usual bit of hot hatch aggression over the standard Golf, and those changes carry over to the interior with a flat-bottomed wheel and, of course, plaid seats. She's certainly a looker, and while some of us do find the new Golf's design to be a bit staid and evolutionary, the enhancements for the GTI indeed tug on our enthusiast heart strings.
