This auction is for an original paint, rustina Mouse grey and white VW bus project. An unusual color with a few bullet holes, killer patina, light pitting, Missouri rust rings, and strong paint elsewhere. Mostly complete less middle and rear seat; front 1/3 2/3 seats are very clean and solid with no rust. This bus would make a perfect patina driver with limited metal repair and a mechanical overhaul... or completely restore. If one chose to go the restoration route, I'm including a very nice full roof and bus front donor clip (really, much more than it needs). Rust is typical lower perimeter (widely available reproduction metal), plus some in the air vent, two spots in the roof (driver side front/passenger side rear), and driver side a-pillar, of which the donor metal included will help tackle. Also included are the salvageable pieces of the interior, extra interior trim, an Autocraft outer ds rocker, its four 15" bus wheels and good rollers, one front window and two Sigla glass replacements. Not pictured, but included, is a good, original passenger side battery tray. This bus has the desirable, one year only optional big brakes, taller reduction box gears, and 1500cc single port engine. Original engine turns over and has oil in it. Doors all open and latch. Original ignition with key. Clean title, great project!

Volkswagen Golf Variant will make a lovely Jetta SportWagen
Tue, 05 Mar 2013In addition to several other versions of the Golf, Volkswagen is debuting the new Golf Variant (read: wagon) here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. And if this bigger version of the Golf looks like it might fit right at home in the States, it's because we could possibly see some version of this car as the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here on our shores.
Volkswagen is debuting the Golf Variant with two efficient diesel engines, rated at 110 and 150 horsepower, the smaller of which is good for an impressive 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle (when mated to a six-speed manual transmission). The Golf Variant also gets a version of Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, making it incredibly all-weather capable.
It's a handsome estate, and it wears the new Golf's design language well. We can't say for sure if this car will actually make its way Stateside, but given the fact that the current Jetta SportWagen still rides on the old Golf platform, the odds look to be in our favor.
2015 VW Golf R caught getting a flogging on 'Ring
Wed, 22 May 2013The upcoming version of the Volkswagen Golf R is nearly ready for prime time, if this video of the car flying around the Nürburgring is any indication. The all-wheel-drive R seems to make quick, neat work of the corners we see here, and sounds pretty devilish in the process.
Expectations are that the new Golf R will run a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (what else?), tuned to produce even more than the current car's 256 horsepower. (Some sources have indicated outputs as high as 286 horsepower, with 280 pound-feet of torque. It's still not clear if Volkswagen will bring the six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the US-spec Golf R in this next go-round or if we'll stick to having only... eh... the stick.
In either case - watching the video below will only whet your appetite for the new, highest performing member of the Golf family.
Former Porsche boss Wiedeking won't face criminal charges over VW bid
Mon, 28 Apr 2014Hedge fund managers have been suing Porsche for years now, alleging that the car company lied about its intentions during its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen, a gambit that caused them billion in losses. Over the same period, authorities in Stuttgart built a criminal case against former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above, left) and Chief Financial Officer Holger Härter (right), filing charges in December 2012. When those fund plaintiffs lost their most recent court case, one of the dimming lights in the dark and receding tunnel was that the criminal investigation might unearth more evidence about Porsche's actions that could help the plaintiffs in pending litigation.
Bloomberg reports that another light has gone out, though, with a Stuttgart court dismissing the market manipulation case before going to trial because, as a court spokesperson said, "there wasn't enough evidence backing up the charges." When prosecutors get the files back from the court, they have a week to decide to refile, but unless they've been sandbagging evidence that could bolster the case, the only lights at the end of the tunnel will be those welcoming Wiedeking and Härter back to the world of legally unencumbered men.
