This is a very clean one owner Volkswagen Beetle Turbo S. It runs and drives 100%, has plenty of power and is being sold with a low reserve.
Don't let the miles fool you. The 1.8L four cylinder turbocharged engine purrs along without a miss or overheat. No "check engine" lights. It has a small valve cover leak. The 6 speed manual transmission shifts perfectly with plenty of clutch. The brakes, steering and suspension are all in good condition with no issues. No exhaust leaks.
The exterior is a glossy red with no major dents or dings. Even though it's not perfect, you might be able to locate a scratch if you look closely but we would rate the condition above average considering the miles. There is a small ding on the hood next to the driver side headlight (see pic). The lights and lenses are bright and clear with no cracks. The tires, on upgraded factory alloy wheels, have about 25% tread (see pic). No windshield cracks but there are two tiny chips.
The interior is a two tone leather on the seats and door panels. The heated leather seats are in good condition but there is the typical wear spot on the side of the driver seat. The carpets are in good condition but there are two wear spots on the driver carpet. All the power options such as sunroof, windows, side mirrors, cruise control, etc. work as designed. It has a factory Monsoon sound system. The heat is hot and the AC is cold.
There are no mechanical problems that would prevent the new owner from driving this car home and no indications of any impending problems.
This quality one owner Volkswagen Beetle Turbo S is being sold by a Maryland Used Car Dealer. We require, on ALL internet sales, a $200 internet auction fee which covers document, clerical, airport transportation, IT support, internet provider and all other internet auction related expenses. This is a LOW RESERVE auction which means that once the reserve has been met, the high bidder must purchase the vehicle. Only bid if you intend to buy and you understand the purchase procedure. Please don't insult our intelligence, and yours, with some lame excuse why you can't buy when you win. ALL non-paying bidders will be reported to Ebay. IF THE DEPOSIT IS NOT RECEIVED WITHIN 24 HOURS THROUGH PAYPAL AS REQUIRED WE WILL AUTOMATICALL RELIST AND REPORT AN UNPAID BIDDER. We try to describe all vehicles accurately. For questions call 410 251-7326. Thanks.
SINCE THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A CURRENT MARYLAND INSPECTION MARYLAND MVA REGULATIONS STATE THE IT CAN ONLY BE PURCHASED BY A NON-MARYLAND RESIDENT. DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDED.

Skoda plans big investment into electric cars as part of rebound effort
Wed, Mar 24 2021PRAGUE — Czech carmaker Skoda, part of the Volkswagen Group, said on Wednesday it would invest around 2.5 billion euros over the next five years on future technologies, with more than half going to electric vehicle investment. The Czech Republic's largest exporter is hoping for a rebound in 2021 from a global car sales drop but faces uncertainty over the coronavirus pandemic and a semiconductor shortage rattling the industry. "This year is likely to be another big challenge," finance director Klaus-Dieter Schuermann said. "We expect Skoda Auto's group performance to improve, with sales revenue significantly above the level of last year." Skoda reported on Wednesday a 54.5% drop in 2020 operating to 756 million euros ($894 million). Sales revenue dropped 13.8% to 17.1 billion euros. Global deliveries remained above 1 million cars for a seventh straight year despite a 19% drop after production outages at the outset of the pandemic and a fall in China, its biggest single market. Chief Executive Thomas Shaefer said the car company was managing the semiconductor shortage "but it will follow us for awhile" and the impact was not visible yet. Skoda's core market in Europe would be electric in the future, Shaefer said, although it was still not time to completely switch away from traditional models, which include the launch last year of a new generation of its flagship Octavia model. It has also started production of the all-electric Enyaq iV model, which is a version of Volkswagen's ID.4. Skoda plans investments of 1.4 billion euros into electromobility development as part of its five-year investment plan. Investments will also go into digitalization activities and plant modernization. Related video: Green Volkswagen Skoda Electric
Volkswagen planning Up! hybrid model using XL1 powertrain
Sun, 24 Feb 2013Even though we've finally gotten a look at the production version of the 261-mile per gallon Volkswagen XL1, this aero-shaped two-seater was never intended for high-volume sales. Fortunately, it sounds like the same isn't true for the car's diesel plug-in hybrid powertrain, which, according to a report from AutoCar, could make its way under the hood of another Volkswagen model: the Up! minicar (shown above).
A potential Up! Hybrid would likely be able to return some of the same impressive fuel economy numbers as the XL1, but it would be a more realistic car with more passenger space and greater production capacity. The hand-built XL1 will use a 47-horsepower, two-cylinder TDI engine paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and the 27-hp electric motor and lithium-ion battery helps deliver an all-electric driving range of 31 miles.
One of the core pillars of the XL1's design is its lightweight construction with a 1752-pound curb weight, which makes the Up! a perfect recipient for using this powertrain since it weighs just 300 pounds more. The report says that the Up! Hybrid is still in the developmental phase, so a production version isn't expected for at least another 18 months.
VW admits 430,000 2016 models have implausible CO2 ratings
Mon, Nov 16 2015Volkswagen finally explained more details about its CO2 rating scandal in Europe and admitted that 430,046 of the estimated 800,000 affected vehicles with "implausible" figures came from the 2016 model year. They included some from Audi, Seat, Skoda, VW, and VW Commercial Vehicles, according to the automaker's list (as a PDF). The problem mostly impacts diesel engines, but the inventory also shows some gasoline mills. VW will next determine the accurate CO2 emissions for these vehicles, and the German Federal Vehicle and Transport Authority will supervise that process to ensure the data's veracity. The automaker will also launch websites in Europe to let owners enter their model's VIN to check whether it's affected. Because governments there often link vehicle taxes and CO2 production, the company promises to work with regulators in each country to cover any fees that result from the inaccurate figures. VW announced the CO2 scandal earlier in November and estimated the equivalent of $2.2 billion to fix it at the time. A later report claimed that a group of engineers were responsible for fabricating the emissions data. They allegedly couldn't meet reduction goals from Martin Winterkorn, and between 2013 and this spring the workers did things like overinflate the tires during testing to achieve the desired results. VW is also closer to a fix in the diesel emissions scandal. According to an anonymous insider to Bloomberg, the company has a repair for the 1.6-liter engine that's reportedly neither very complex nor expensive. German regulators would still need to approve the solution before it could roll out to owners. Next step in clarifying the CO2 issue Affected Volkswagen Group models of the current model year have been identified Customers being informed via website Discussions with the authorities have begun The Volkswagen Group reports that the vehicles of the 2016 model year affected by the CO2 issue have been identified. There is thus now clarity about the new vehicles of the current model year out in the marketplace. On 3 November 2015, the Group had already reported that irregularities may have arisen in determining the CO2 figures for type approval of around 800,000 vehicles. This was identified during its own currently ongoing investigations and had been made public. The internal investigations into the current vehicles of the 2016 model year provide results for narrowing down the actually affected vehicles with implausible CO2 figures.
