ENJOY LIFE!! DRIVE A CONVERTIBLE!! Up for NO RESERVE AUCTION is this beautiful Sunshine Yellow 1972 Volkswagen Convertible! 1972 is a very collectible year because it was the last year of the classic-style flat windshield on the Convertible Beetle. This car has always been a California car since the day it was new!  All original down to its wheels, always adult-owned, never raised, lowered or hot-rodded. Owned for many years by a wealthy woman who always took very good care of it. Always garaged, even covered in the garage, it shows the care it's had. If you have ever owned or driven one of these neat little cars, you know how much fun they are to drive! Just running errands is a joy! And a top-down ride on a beautiful spring day is pure pleasure! A lot of people restore these cars and some do a good job. But here is a car that doesn't need restoring, it has always been kept in good shape. The motor was rebuilt about three thousand miles ago, is smooth and powerful and has just received a full service. Doesn't use oil. All of the windows are clear with no cracks, and they all roll up and down like they should . Seats are in very good condition. The top was recently replaced with a very high quality Hartz canvas at a cost of $2100; it does have a small patch in one spot that is barely noticeable.  Beautiful recent paint job really makes this car stand out in a crowd! All lights, turn signals, and heater work great.  Tire tread is at 90%. A brand new high quality sound system makes cruising even more enjoyable.  If you have ever wanted one of these great little cars but didn't want to have to restore one, or pay outrageous money for a perfect one, then this car is for you! Absolutely a turn key car, it needs nothing but a new owner. Convertible Beetles have steadily been increasing in value and nice clean ones like this are sure to continue to go up even more. This is a very affordable classic. Not a 100-point show car, but a car you will be love to own and drive. Take it to your local weekend "Bug-In" and be proud! Or really enjoy life and drive it every day! Perfect car for that special teenager.  Available for inspection anytime during the auction by appointment. I'll ship anywhere in the world at buyer's expense. Shipped to your door anywhere in the U.S., I work with a very reliable company. The pictures really don't do the car justice. It is very beautiful.  E-Mail or call me with questions at 831-383-2499. This is a car you will never be sorry for buying!  Bidding starts at a very modest $2500 and there is NO RESERVE!! This means someone will get this neat little car. Good luck and HAPPY BIDDING!!!

VW Group to split brands under four holding companies

Tue, Jun 16 2015

The Volkswagen Group is planning a tremendous shift in its internal structure that will decentralize operations by splitting its 12 brands into four different holding companies. Here's the breakdown. Things will be split logically, considering the inter-sharing of parts, platforms, and engines. The Volkswagen brand, Seat, and Skoda make up a passenger vehicle division led by former BMW man Herbert Diess. Audi, which is tightly intertwined with Lamborghini and motorcycle manufacturer Ducati, will be managed by current Audi exec Rupert Stadler. Porsche and Bentley, which are already quite close, will be joined by Bugatti and run by Matthias Mueller. Finally, a commercial vehicles division will include Volkswagen Commercial, Scania, and Man. Former Daimler exec Andreas Renschler will take care of the big vehicles. The massive move, according to Automotive News Europe, is part of an internal VAG effort to move away from the structure established by ousted Chairman Ferdinand Piech, who favored a compact, but highly centralized, management structure to oversee the independent actions of the company's brands. Criticism of Piech's arrangement stemmed from the company's slow responses to changes in the market, ANE reports. The new structure should make for a more efficient, streamlined company that's better able to make crucial decisions. What are your thoughts? Should VAG decentralize, or did Piech have the right idea? Have your say in Comments.

Honda wins Commercial of the Decade, but not for the ad you think [w/VIDEO]

Honda's Commercial of the Decade: "Grrr" - Click above to watch video
The mad men at Adweek recently voted for the Commercial of the Decade (Super Bowl commercials not included) and Honda took top honors over memorable ads from the last ten years by companies like Nike, Budweiser and Sony. That's not a big surprise considering Honda often puts a huge amount of effort into its on-air spots. However, the Japanese automaker didn't win for the commercial you might have expected: "Cog." Though Honda's famous commercial that breaks down a European Accord Tourer into a Rube Goldberg-esque machine was also a finalist, it was beaten by another Honda commercial called "Grrr" that's narrated by Garrison Keillor of all people. You've probably never seen it, but you can after the jump.
Volkswagen also made the list of finalists, but the particular ad chosen out of all the comical VW ads we've seen was unexpected as well. Most surprising carmaker with a commercial in the finals: Saturn. Who knew...

German prosecutors have recorded calls between VW bigwigs talking dieselgate

Thu, Mar 21 2019

It's barely possible to believe how poorly Volkswagen continues to handle dieselgate. Depending on which day you catch the news, the German carmaker embodies the corporate venality of "Michael Clayton," the comic blundering of the Coen Brothers' "Burn After Reading," and the every-man-for-himself vengeance of "Reservoir Dogs." Today is Tarantino day, with news that German prosecutors have recordings of phone calls between former Audi and Porsche development boss Wolfgang Hatz, ex-Volkswagen Group executive Matthias Muller, and current Porsche executives Oliver Blume and Michael Steiner. Hatz made the calls to the trio in November 2015, two months after Volkswagen admitted its diesel-particulate sins to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Hatz was still employed at the time, and in his company car. Who recorded the calls? His wife. Hatz and his missus apparently saw the storm coming and started stacking defenses early. Hatz's wife, who can be heard encouraging Hatz during at least one call, sent the recordings to Hatz's attorney from her mobile phone. According to a Google translation of the German newspaper Handelsblatt's report, she included the note, "Here is a very long, but quite informative conversation on the current situation with useful formulations." The report in Handelsblatt said that in Germany it is generally "not allowed" to record a conversation and pass it on to a third party. We don't know how the authorities will handle this matter, since prosecutors found the recordings in e-mail attachments on Mrs. Hatz's mobile phone. Remember, when the diesel scandal broke, VW spent months saying that only a small number of low-level personnel were behind it, and all of the higher-ups had been blindsided. Ex-CEO Martin Winterkorn claimed to be "stunned that misconduct on such a scale was possible in the Volkswagen Group." Winterkorn successor Matthias Muller said, "according to current information, a few developers interfered in the engine management." Former VW USA honcho Michael Horn told a congressional committee that "a couple of software engineers" programmed the software for reasons no one could understand. In the recorded conversations, Hatz apparently called Muller to find out how VW planned to treat him.
