EQUIPPED WITH A VIPER ALARM AND REMOTE START!

This beautiful 2004 Volkswagen New Beetle GL is now available for you to buy! Don’t miss your chance to own a good looking, solid Beetle convertible. I personally drove this vehicle for over an hour just to make sure the motor and transmission is solid with no issues.

INTERIOR: The remote start works at just the press of a button. The original key fob also works with the alarm remote. The black leather interior is all in great shape. The manual top is very easy to put up and down. The aftermarket Kenwood radio sounds great and there is an auxiliary port so you can listen to any device. The heat works great and the a/c is cold. ALL OF THE WINDOWS WORK, and so does everything else! There are no indications of any leaks and there are no odors in this stylish Beetle!

EXTERIOR: The body is in good shape. It looks as if the car was garage kept. The top has no signs of dry rot and the seams are all in great shape. There are a few things that are hard to notice, there is a flaw on the rear driver side bumper. The clear coat in that area has some issues as if it was bumped up against. The front bumper has minor issues on the very bottom, probably caused from scraping. This can be fixed professionally for a few hundred dollars if you wanted it perfect. Other than a few flaws that are hard to notice, this is a great vehicle. The tires have plenty of tread left on them.

MOTOR/HANDLING: The Beetle starts right up and idles with no issues or sounds. The car goes right into gear with no jerking. The acceleration is very responsive and the brakes work great at any speed with no wobble or vibration. The transmission shifts through every gear with no hesitation, every time. I drove over an hour just to make sure there was nothing wrong. The downshifting is also smooth and responsive. The suspension feels great and it does a great job absorbing all the imperfections and making a quiet ride. The powered steering makes tight turns very easy and it is also smooth. There isn’t any pinging when making very tight turns. This vehicle feels very reliable and I would drive it anywhere, any distance. The airbag light is the only issue. Volkswagen is notorious for this. Almost every time the light is on because of a bad connection with a sensor, and usually the sensor is bad. The sensor is under $100 and the labor is very cheap. We can have it looked into and fixed for you prior to delivery, if you were interested. This is one of the few solid Volkswagen Beetles for sale.

This generation of the Volkswagen Beetle is notorious for having issues with the transmission and windows not working properly etc. I wanted to be sure this one was defect free! A car is as good as its owner. The previous owner obviously cared for this Beetle and maintained it very well. There are receipts/records in the glove box. The radio, alarm, and receipts are all good signs of pride in the vehicle, and that shows that maintenance was performed regularly.

NADA.com appraises this vehicle for $6,625 at suggested retail. The reserve is set nowhere near that. If you are interested in this vehicle and would like to ‘BUY IT NOW’ please feel free to contact me. Thank you so much for looking and good luck with the bidding. -Daryl

EPA message to automakers: You're on notice

Fri, Sep 25 2015

With top administrator Gina McCarthy speaking about the "moral obligation for climate action" on Friday, the Environmental Protection Agency announced it would ramp up its oversight of the auto industry in the wake of Volkswagen's emissions cheating. In a letter sent to manufacturers Friday, the agency said it would begin examining cars to see whether they contained defeat devices "in addition to the standard emissions test cycles." "We are putting vehicle manufacturers on notice." Exactly how the agency plans to test for these devices – which are not devices per se, but algorithms contained in millions of lines of software code that govern vehicle functions – remains unclear. Christopher Grundler, the director of the EPA Office of Transportation and Air Quality, divulged few details in how the agency would uncover so-called defeat devices used by cheaters. "Not today – or actually ever – I'm not going to be describing what new ways we'll be using to detect these defeat devices." Later, he said engineers will have to "come up with some clever ways to do this." The only insight he offered was that the EPA, California Air Resources Board, and Environment Canada would partner on testing more cars for emissions and anomalies. Grundler also said the EPA would diversify its testing fleet. In addition to relying on vehicles provided by manufacturers, the federal agency will now also borrow cars from "private citizens" and utilize rental cars for tests. "We are putting vehicle manufacturers on notice," he said. Joint investigations between EPA and CARB have "been very successful in protecting human health and the environment," said Janet McCabe, the agency's acting administrator in the Office of Air and Radiation. "But we also know, and the Volkswagen violations before us now make it clear, we need to adapt and step up our oversight." That may include an increase in on-road testing in addition to the five emissions tests now more relied upon. The EPA owns and maintains 23 portable emissions-monitoring systems like the one used by West Virginia University researchers who first detected elevated levels of nitrogen oxide emissions from two Volkswagen diesel vehicles. Right now, they're almost exclusively deployed to monitor emission from heavy-duty vehicles, whose NOx emissions "dwarf" the amount produced by light-duty vehicles, which produce less than 2 percent of the total, according to the agency's figures.

2015 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen First Drive [w/video]

Wed, Mar 25 2015

Volkswagen currently offers five Golf models in the US, and in just a few weeks it will add the 2015 SportWagen to the lineup. The previous version sold as the Jetta SportWagen, although it was technically a Golf. For the new model, VW product planners decided to align all the hatchbacks under the same name. The SportWagen employs the same engines as the Golf, but significantly stretches its new MQB architecture. The result is greater practicality in the form of cargo room. With the seats up the SportWagen holds 30.4 cubic feet, almost 8 more than the Golf. The gap widens to nearly 14 cu ft with the seats folded; a max capacity of 66.5 cu ft puts the SportWagen into compact crossover territory. That added functionality leads VW to think it can sway buyers shopping the likes of the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. And with the high-mpg diesel variant – 31 mpg city, up to 43 highway – VW hopes to lure those considering fuel-sipping MPVs like the Toyota Prius V and Ford C-MAX. What separates this Golf from those other two segments is the driving prowess we've come to expect from Wolfsburg's best-selling nameplate. While the silhouette is similar to the outgoing Jetta wagon, designers honed the character lines to give the Golf SportWagen a more modern, angular aesthetic. The LED headlights look sharp, the hood now scoops down at a steeper angle into the front fenders, and the general proportions – in line with other Golf models – have changed. The new SportWagen is lower, longer, and wider and than the Jetta SportWagen it replaces. Specifically, it is 1.1 inches longer, 0.7 inches wider, and despite being about an inch lower, actually boasts more headroom. Inside, things look pretty familiar to the current Golf family. There are small, premium touches such as a sporty, flat-ish-bottom wheel, piano-black trim, and an optional one-touch panoramic sunroof that makes the cabin a bright, airy, and pleasant place to be. Otherwise, it's your standard Golf fare, but with a whole lot more room out back. The same two engines that power the standard Golf – the 1.8-liter turbocharged inline-four TSI, and 2.0-liter turbocharged TDI diesel – are also found under the hood of the SportWagen. Gasoline-powered models come with a five-speed manual or a traditional six-speed auto, while the TDI gets six-speed transmissions across the board – either as a row-your-own manual, or a dual-clutch DSG auto with steering wheel-mounted paddles.

VW must explain diesel fix by Nov. 20 in California

Sun, Oct 11 2015

The state of California has long been ahead of the game when it comes to enacting laws limiting greenhouse gas emissions from light-duty vehicles in the US. Now, it looks like the Golden State is again leading the pack as it tries to get to the bottom of the Volkswagen diesel-emissions scandal that has shaken up much of the automotive industry. In fact, while VW has come out and said vehicle recalls wouldn't likely start happening until at least January, the state is giving VW until Nov. 20 to outline how it will repair its diesel-powered vehicles to comply with emissions mandates, Reuters says, citing a spokesman with the California Air Resources Board. That deadline coincides with the 45-day mark after VW received its Sept. 18 compliance letter about the diesel issue. In fact, California regulators may well start testing non-VW diesel vehicles to see if any other automaker installed software that would cause diesel emissions to be underestimated. Other German automakers such as BMW have boosted their diesel-vehicle production in recent years in an effort to meet tightening greenhouse-gas emissions and fuel-economy standards. VW has estimated that as many as 11 million light-duty diesel vehicles may include cheating software. Given that California is the largest US auto market, many of those vehicles are tooling around the state. In all, Volkswagen has earmarked $7.3 billion to address the scandal's issues, while former CEO Martin Winterkorn has stepped down and has been replaced by Matthias Muller. Related Video:
