The combination of the Beautiful deep black paint with black interior and a year old convertible top really compliment the theme of the car.

These VW convertibles are a rare find especially in this condition. Very well maintained have all records since new, and garaged or covered all the time. This VW drives very well and will make your time driving it fun!

It has Chromes bumpers and mirrors which are in nice shape.

Has aluminum wheels and three year old radial tires, new tuneup, oil change, muffler, fan belts, shocks, front end alignment , and new fuel pump.

The engine is 1600cc that runs beautifully and very strong, it starts right up, wait for choke to clear and drive. Transmission shifts smoothly and clutch works great. It has been dealer-maintained. It runs and drives great!

Paint is a beautiful Black like no other car on ebay that shines great and is a little better than driver quality.

Black interior is in great shape, drivers, passenger and rear seats are in great shape. Dash is in ok shape as it needs to be replaced several cracks but can locate replacement, Glass is all good, Moves up and down easliy. It has AM/FM/DVD that works.

Under-chassis is very solid havent had any issues. You can fly in and drive this baby home! Miles of smiles in this iconic '79 Super Beetle Convertible .

It is not true show quality but will show or place on the local level and is a good, reliable daily driver. A fun car to drive on summer days that turns a lot of heads and gets alot of thumbs up gestures. This is a nice reliable car with many years of enjoyment left. We are relocating is the only reason my wife will sell.

This vehicle is for sale locally.

1979, was the last production year for the Beetle Convertible in the US. Only 3,500 were produced, of that 500 were imported for california (catilitic converter) 110 had factory black, 28 had black interiors and making this car VERY collectible.

NADAGUIDES valued this convertible the Average Retail at $13,700 and High Retail of $28,000. This doesnt account for its rarity!

It's a great investment and a great driving car.

Please no solicitors, No people who are buying from a ship for someone else, no scammers or lowball offers . If you are realitistic so will I be!

Fully Charged rolls into season 3 with VW XL1 and electric Land Rover

Sat, Jan 18 2014

It's been some time since last we visited with British actor and electric car proponent Robert Llewellyn and his web-based video series, Fully Charged. The show, now sponsored by Ecotricity, has started rolling out its third season and now has available two episodes featuring a pair of truly unique – and diametrically opposed – vehicles. The first installment starts with some interesting numbers involving the host's Nissan Leaf and its energy consumption over the past 36,000 miles, but soon moves on to the ultra-aero, ultra-expensive Volkswagen XL1. Now, if you've already seen the footage from our own XL1 first drive review, there's not a lot new here except, perhaps, more enthusiasm and a better listen of the two-cylinder diesel kicking in. Still, it's a great reminder of a truly unique vehicle and we enjoyed the segment. The second episode features an electrified Land Rover Defender 110. This is a vehicle you'd more likely see on an African safari than at the local mall. It's not a home-built conversion either, but rather, something the company has put together "for the boffins to create the ideas and see if they work." Boasting a 50-mile range, it's certainly something we like to take on an off-road adventure. Llewellyn is given the chance to do just that, and though the course is somewhat milder than what we might attempt, it does feature a stretch of river and some rough, rutted tracks. You can watch both episodes by scrolling below let us know which vehicle you'd prefer in the comments. This writer is going with the four-wheel-drive. This content is hosted by a third party. VW Golf GTI wrung out by Chris Harris

Thu, 27 Jun 2013

Enthusiasts like nothing more than to crucify modern interpretations of their favorite performance models for failing to live up to some imagined ethos. Even the Volkswagen GTI has suffered its fair share of slings and arrows for growing in size and curb weight. Chris Harris recently spent some time with the all-new MK VII GTI to find out if growing up means giving up on what makes the machine so special.
Judging by his comments, Harris certainly doesn't think so. Yes, the new GTI is considerably more comfortable than its predecessors, but that's hardly a bad thing. The multitude of driving modes actually seem to add depth to the car rather than simply try to force one tool to do many jobs, and Harris even finds the machine's electronic power steering tolerable. As a result, Harris goes so far as to call the Volkswagen GTI "one of the best cars to actually own." How's that for high praise? You can watch the video for yourself by scrolling below.

This Or That: 1987 VW Vanagon Syncro vs. 1987 Land Rover Defender [w/poll]

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

As I scoured auction sites and classified ads for the perfect vehicle to take into battle with Autoblog Associate Editor Brandon Turkus, I knew I needed to find something unique. You see, I'm currently 0-2 at winning a round of This or That, in which two of our editors agree on a category, choose a side, and argue it out over a (mostly) friendly chain of emails.
The first time we did this, my chosen Fiat 500 Abarth took about a third of the popular vote in our reader poll. The second time, my lovely 1980 Oldsmobile 442 did just a little bit better against a 1989 BMW 635 CSi. Despite holding the opinion that my automotive choices, though perhaps a little bit more... obscure than my fellow editors, are still better, an outright win would go a long way toward boosting my vehicular self worth a few notches upward.
With all of that out of the way, even if three isn't my lucky number after all, I go into battle against Brandon knowing full well that I've made the perfect choice: A 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Syncro. My rough-and-tumble van/'ute has a formidable opponent in the form of a 1987 Land Rover Defender, which, truth be told, is exactly what I was expecting from Turkus, a self-proclaimed Rover aficionado.
