1979 Volkswagen VW Mars Red Super Beetle Convertible 2 Door with Fuel Injection 1600cc Motor 4 Speed Automatic Transmission.
Vehicle is in Near Excellent Condition and has been garage kept. I purchased the car from a local dealer in SW Florida who had just had it shipped down from Tennessee and advised he purchased it from the original owner who also had it garage kept. Vehicle repainted recently with original VW color Mars Red (title listed it as orange) but does have a couple of minuet touched up dings on driver door. Fairly new chrome bumpers (with in the last year). Convertible top in good condition; doesn't leak, no rips or tears, goes up and down easily, and has the top cover for it that snaps on when you put the top down which also is in very good condition. Radio works but cassette player does not. There is a small chip/crack in the windshield on the passenger side that has been treated with a filling agent and has been like that the entire time I have owned it; it has not spread. Also has the owner's manual and extra chrome pieces. I listed the minor imperfections in the description but from the pictures you can see how great this car is. Always a head turner, and is FUN to drive. Only reason I am letting it go is that I now have 4 VWs plus my 2 everyday drivers and my garage and driveway are full. I am also listing a VW trike with a Harley front end.
Shipping or Pick Up is responsibility of purchaser. $550 deposit through PayPal required with in 24 hours of end of auction and final payment due within 5 days of end of auction.
If you have any questions please contact the seller before bidding.
Vehicle is for sale locally and I may end this auction at any time.
Please see pictures and good luck bidding.

Volkswagen Golf GTD Variant burns the oil long and fast
Wed, Mar 4 2015Volkswagen offers no shortage of variations on the Golf theme in America, from the base hatchback and the electric e-Golf to the sporty GTI and performance-oriented Golf R. But as many as are available Stateside, there are even more that never make it here. Like the one you see above. It's called the Volkswagen Golf GTD Variant. It's based on what we'd know as the new Golf SportWagen, which is just arriving in the US now, but this one packs the performance upgrades from the Golf GTD. Isn't that a typo? Don't we mean GTI? No, we don't: we mean GTD. Because in Europe, you can get what is essentially a GTI with a diesel, complete with all (or at least most) of the gear you'd find in the petrol hot hatch, only with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel inline-four packing 181 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. That may not sound like all that much as far as performance models go, but it's more than we'll be able to get from either the gasoline or diesel versions of the Golf SportWagen back in the States. And that makes us a little jealous, especially with room for the kids, the dog and all their gear in the back. World premiere of the new Golf GTD Variant - The perfect all-round package: sporty, economical, comfortable and spacious - Launch set for Geneva Motor Show Since 1982 Volkswagen's GTD logo has stood for Gran Turismo Diesel, with its promise of sporty yet economical motoring. Now for the first time, the GTD initials grace the Golf Variant, which like the Golf GTD, boasts the 184 PS (135 kW) TDI engine. The new Golf GTD Variant is set for its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, and is available to order as of now at a price of 31,975 euros. The Golf GTD Variant* is excellently placed to establish itself as an iconic long-distance cruiser. The 184 PS TDI engine takes the Golf GTD Variant to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds with the 2-litre unit delivering a maximum torque of 380 Nm – and yet this sporty Variant car boasts impressive fuel consumption figures of only 4.4 litres per 100 km. The car's sporty character is reflected in its exterior design: along with special GTD bumpers and the honeycomb radiator grille, the Golf GTD Variant also features smoked rear lights and flared sills. The look is completed by 17-inch Curitiba alloys, black roof rails and dual chrome tailpipes.

Volkswagen is not cool with a Fiat Chrysler merger
Wed, Mar 8 2017Volkswagen CEO Matthias Mueller shot down Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne's overtures for a merger in blunt fashion this week. Mueller told Reuters at the Geneva Motor Show, "We are not ready for talks about anything ... we have other problems. I haven't seen Marchionne for months." The unusually candid – and icy – response from one chief executive to another comes after Marchionne similarly pursued General Motors (again) this week. The FCA boss suggested GM might be looking for a new European partner as it prepares to unload its troubled Opel and Vauxhall divisions to PSA. A GM spokesman told USA Today that the company is not interested. Marchionne has been openly suggesting a GM merger since at least 2015, despite GM never reciprocating interest. VW's "other problems," as Mueller notes, include legal proceedings, fines, recalls, and other issues related to its long-running diesel scandal. Marchionne has long sought industry consolidation, arguing that automakers don't get a proper return on their investments in technologies, some of which are relatively similar. He's suggested sharing chassis and powertrain components could be a benefit to the collective auto sector. Skeptics argue FCA, which is smaller than GM, VW, Toyota, and others, needs a partner to survive, while its rivals already have the necessary scale to remain competitive. Related Video:
