"A Blast from the Past"

Hello there! We have a great little convertible up for auction. I am a broker, and I was hired to sell this car. All the pictures you see are from my digital camera. The pictures have not been re touched or manipulated.  For the first time since the car rolled off the showroom floor, this car has been put up for sale, a 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible, a rear engine air cooled four cylinder engine, with rear transaxle manual transmission, ready to take you anywhere. This belonged to a collector. He had five cars, 2 went to restoration, the 1966 Ford Mustang was sold to Germany and the Alfa Romeo and the Beetle came to us and are both now on ebay. The nature of this car makes it a candidate for ebay. This completely original VW Convertible has a new top and glass rear window, and with factory jet black repaint. Typical of VW and Porsche, there were areas where the metal would be thin, both sides floor pans have been replaced. Engine, transmission, and clutch are all in good working order. This car has always been maintained, and always garaged. One owner, and has spent it's running around days in sunny southern California. It has some surface rust in the undercarriage, I guess something you would expect for a 35 year car, and only 86,837 original miles. It's a great specimen if you want to go ahead and have this Super Beetle restored, but it looks stunning, just the way it is! Beautiful shiny black paint, beautiful black top and the volkswagen beetle black vinyl seats. Only southern california can out do itself, this convertible features the dealer installed silver and gold steel spider wheels. Many people preferred this look better than the wheels that came with the car. If you really want to see what wheels came with the car, just open the trunk and take a look at the original white wall spare with the dull looking steel silver wheel. This car even comes with the highly collectable original blue California Blue License Plates. Never thought I would say a Beetle was classy, but this is pure fun, excitement and with the triple black, just waiting to be driven. Just a great car! Maybe it's time you took a second look at this one, it just might be the car that you have been looking for.

"Volkswagen Changes Gears"

1979 and 1980 the end of an era. Since the late 1940's, Volkswagen produced the Beetle convertible all the way up to 1979 and made just a few more for 1980, but were 1979 leftovers. This was the last rear air cooled engine convertible in the United States. Volkswagen, started to change to front wheel drive water cooled engines. The Volkswagen Beetle became collectable immediately! In the late 1970's Volkswagen produced a "Triple White" edition, along with a "Champagne" Edition and the "Epilog." and the last Karmann built soft top bug rolled off the line on January 10, 1980, then headed straight into volkswagen's Auto Museum in Wolfsburg. Everyone knows a Volkswagen Bug, well, you know the rest. They have been around for years, I drove one myself for years in my younger days, fast, easy to drive, great on gas, simple to work on, parts easy to get, all wrapped up in a great little car. Come and get this car, the very last of the last.

"So you would like to get this car, here are the Terms!"

The best cars we drove this year

Tue, Dec 30 2014

Six hundred and fifty. That's roughly how many cars pass through the hands of Autoblog editors every year, from the vehicles we test here at home, to the cars we drive on new product launches, testing roundups, long-term cars, and so on. Of course, our individual numbers vary due to several reasons, but at the end of the day, our team's repertoire of automotive experience is indeed vast. But let's be honest, some cars certainly stand out more than others. So as the year's about to turn, and as we're readying brand-new daily cat calendars for our cubicles, our editors are all taking time to reflect on the machinery that made this year so special, with one simple, open-ended question as the guide – a question that we're asked quite frequently, from friends, family, colleagues, and more. "What's the best car you drove this year?" Lamborghini Huracan When I review the list of everything I drove in 2014, picking an absolute favorite becomes almost impossible. I mean, how does one delineate between the joy offered by cars as different as the Alfa Romeo 4C, Volkswagen Golf R, Mercedes-AMG GT S and even the humble-yet-wonderful Chevy Colorado? Okay fine, I'll just pick the Lamborghini. I drove the Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 on a racetrack, in the mountains, and along southern coast of Spain. It felt like the king of the car jungle in all of those places, sucking the eyeballs of observers nearly out of their heads as it drove by, and almost melting my brain with its cocktail of speed and grip and intense communication. It feels a little easy to say that the one new supercar I drove this year was also my favorite, but the fact is that the Huracan is one of the finest cars I've driven during my career, let alone 2014. Judge me if you must. – Seyth Miersma Senior Editor Rolls-Royce Wraith There are a couple of ways to look at the question, "What's the best car you drove this year?" In terms of what was so good I'd go out and buy one tomorrow, that'd be my all-time sweetheart, the Volkswagen GTI. Or if I'm just talking about sheer cool-factor, maybe something like the Galpin GTR1, BMW i8, or Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. But instead, I'm going to write about the sheer opulence of being the best of the best. The hand-crafted, holier-than-thou, shut-your-mouth-when-I'm-talking-to-you supremacy. I'm picking the Rolls-Royce Wraith. I drove the Wraith for a week in April, and was really, really impressed. This car does everything, perfectly.

Pontiac Aztek enjoys rebirth thanks to Millennials

Fri, Sep 11 2015

Apparently, Millennials – those between 18 and 34 – aren't afraid to look different on the road, and they like performance, too. A new study by Edmunds is discovering some surprising vehicle choices by this group. Among them, the long-derided Pontiac Aztek is getting a new day in the sun with 25.5 percent its buyers coming from this generation in the first half of 2015. For comparison, Millennials represent an average of 16.8 percent of used car purchases. The Aztek is slowly shaking its reputation as a styling abomination, which seems tied to its appearance on Breaking Bad. The show premiered in 2008, and the Pontiac has been on this list for four of the past five years, according to Edmunds. It even led the pack in 2010. A recent Retro Review from MotorWeek also showed that the crossover wasn't always so hated. While it's still a shock to see the Aztek on any popularity list, the awkward-looking crossover only ranks sixth among Millennials. The vehicle with the biggest portion of buyers from the generation is the Dodge Magnum with 27.6 percent. According to Edmunds, the bluntly styled wagon is especially popular in Detroit and Chicago. The Chrysler Pacifica comes in a close second at 27.3 percent. When it comes to used cars, value and utility appear to trump just about anything else for many Millennial buyers," Edmunds analyst Jeremy Acevedo said in the report. Young buyers aren't afraid of sporty rides, either. The Subaru WRX has 26.4 percent Millennial buyers to rank third place on the list, and the Volkswagen R32 takes fifth at 25.7 percent. Just a few points lower in seventh place is the Nissan GT-R at 25.4 percent, and the final performance machine in 10th place is the Lexus IS-F with 24.7 percent. Related Video:

VW recalls 25k Jettas over low-beam headlight issue

Wed, Dec 31 2014

Volkswagen has discovered an issue with the headlamps on its latest Jetta and is issuing a recall notice in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to correct the issue. The problem revolves around the headlight control module, which has been found in certain instances to switch off the low-beam headlights when the high beams are turned on. Needless to say, that could result in insufficient illumination in the dark, so VW is moving to update the module's software. The issue only affects the new 2015 Jetta – specifically those manufactured between July 11, 2014 (which just happens to be this writer's birthday, thank you very much) and November 13, 2014. All in all, the Volkswagen Group of America estimates that encompasses 25,007 units in the United States, the owners of which can expect to hear from their dealers in the new year. RECALL Subject : Insufficient Headlight Output Report Receipt Date: DEC 15, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V790000 Component(s): EXTERIOR LIGHTING Potential Number of Units Affected: 25,007 All Products Associated with this Recall close VOLKSWAGEN JETTA 2015 Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. SUMMARY: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2015 Jetta vehicles manufactured July 11, 2014, to November 13, 2014. Due to incorrect software within the headlight control module, the low beam headlights may turn off when high beam lights are turned on. As a result, the light output from the headlights may be insufficient. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108. "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." CONSEQUENCE: Insufficient headlight output may increase the risk of a crash. REMEDY: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will update the headlight control module software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in January 2015. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 57F6. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
