1978 Vw Beetle Convertible Restored New Engine Amazing Condition on 2040-cars
Portland, Oregon, United States
1978 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible We recently acquired this lovely little California Beetle Convertible, and were amazed at how nice it was. Although we don’t have any paperwork, it’s obvious that this Beetle has gone through a recent and thorough refreshing. The paint is fresh, the top is fresh, the motor appears to be brand new and runs like it is. Everything works as it should, lights, stereo, top, and gauges. The interior is in great shape, no smells, no rips, no tears, or evidence of water damage. The transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears and the linkage is tight. The tires are new and the hubcaps are in good shape. All of the chrome on the car is in great shape. Driving the car is an absolute pleasure, it tracks true, stops straight, and although it is no hot rod, it runs perfectly. If you were to buy one of these in average condition and restore it to this level you would spend a ton of time and money. This one is ready to go, it needs nothing, there is a lot of smiles per mile to be had. Please look through all the pictures and watch the included video. We make a real effort to show the car to the best of our ability. Remember, if you bid and win, you will be expected to complete the transaction. Inspections are welcome, PRIOR to the end of the auction. Feel free to call or email with any questions, 503-475-8078 Josh, 503-819-9007 Matt. Please call 503 875 4075 or 503 819 9007

Tanner Foust drifts in with new VW Passat [w/video]
Thu, Apr 9 2015Tanner Foust, like many drifting and rallycross names, may have had a long track record with Ford, campaigning Blue Oval drifters in Formula D, the X Games and the Global RallyCross Championship. He won a few medals with Nissan too. But these days he's all about the Volkswagens. He drives a Beetle in the aforementioned GRC, but is now set to return to Formula Drift with the Passat you see here. The Top Gear USA co-host's new ride is ostensibly based on the German sedan we all know, but instead of a 1.8 turbo, a V6, a TDI or even a W8, this one packs a 7.4-liter V8. That mammoth mill sends about 700 horsepower to the rear wheels through a four-speed transmission, but will churn out a good 900 hp on nitrous. In short, it should be better suited towards drifting than the Passat 4Motion this writer tried to slide so many times in his youth. The beast is sponsored once again by Rockstar Energy, and we're looking forward to watching Tanner use it to try and retake the titles he won in 2007 and 2008. Editors' Choice: Top Five 2013 Geneva Motor Show Debuts
Fri, 08 Mar 2013We've returned from a very busy week in Switzerland, and in going back over all of our 75 stories from the Geneva Motor Show, our editors have gathered up their personal favorite debuts from the European expo.
The wonderful thing about the Geneva show is just how wide of an array of vehicles are on display - everything from funny little one-off EVs to the most exotic of supercars to, well, truly ridiculous displays of coachbuilding. And because of that, this list of our editors' favorites might not be as predictable as you think.
But we don't want to give anything away just yet. Scroll down to have a look at our team's favorites from Geneva.
Volkswagen formally introduces super-efficient XL1
Mon, 04 Mar 2013Lightweight and low drag are hallmarks of great sportscar design. But when paired with a super-efficient, hybrid powertrain, you have the Volkswagen's XL1 that has been formally introduced in Geneva today.
When the 1,700-lb, carbon-fiber-bodied two-seater hits the road, its claimed 261 miles per gallon will make it the world's most-fuel-efficient production car. Though "production car" might be a stretch since VW said in a February press release that the XL1 would be built using "handcrafting-like production methods." We translate that to mean you won't be seeing many of these cars on the road. Though no one at VW has mentioned pricing yet, early rumors suggested a six-figure price tag.
That's supercar budget for a vehicle that has a 47-horsepower, two-cylinder diesel engine and a 27hp electric motor. With numbers like that, owners can expect 0-62 mph times of 12.7 seconds and top speed near 100 mph.
