Up for bid is a very clean and low mileage 1976 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible.  I purchased the car 3 years ago from the nephew of the original owner.  The owner was a college professor at Binghampton SUNY College of New York.  He owned and maintained the vehicle throughout its life.  I have all the original paperwork showing it has 35000 miles on it 15 years ago.  It is just under 40000 today.  Unfortunately. the fellow had cancer, and before he passed he gave the car to his young nephew.  The nephew keep it really nice and garaged it and did not drive it in the winter months. The young man put it up for sale on ebay about 3 years ago and I bought it from him

I have had the vehicle completely inspected and all the necessary maintenance it needed to make it a completely safe and reliable vehicle.  It does not leak oil, shifts easily, the clutch engages correctly.  The car handles, drives and stop like it should.  The top is new, and the interior has be refreshed with new seat covers, carpet, etc.

The body is in excellent condition with no rust, or dents.  The underbody is excellent and the car has no rust.  The color is red with orange tones.  The interior is black and is in excellent condition.  The car has a factory tach, and all the volkswagen standard guages--speedo and gas guage.  It has the factory AM/FM radio that works fine.

I have driven the car on trips as long as 100 miles with any problems.  I have a number of vehicles and I am selling some of my cars.

The car is in Fairport New York.  and I can be reached at 585-259-3958 with any questions.  I own a small used car dealership and the pictures were taken after it was detailed.
It will be fully detailed when you pick the vehicle up.  I own a  used car dealership, but this Volkswagen is my privately owned vehicle.  It is not dealership inventory.

Please do not bid unless you really have the money for the car and plan to arrange to pick it up.

I will need $500 on paypal within 48  hours and the rest in a certified bank check or cash.

There is no warranty with the vehicle.  But the mileage is true and the car runs great.

I will assist the shipper you arrange to pick the car to transport to your location.

Auto sales in March and first quarter down nearly across the board

Wed, Apr 3 2019

Nearly every major automaker reported weak U.S. sales for March and the first quarter of 2019, citing a rough start to the year, but said a robust economy and strong labor market should encourage consumers to buy more vehicles as 2019 rolls on. GM, which no longer releases monthly sales figures, saw first-quarter sales fall 7 percent, with declines across all brands. Sales of Silverado pickup trucks fell nearly 16 percent and the high-margin Chevy Suburban large SUV dropped 25 percent. Ford also no longer releases monthly sales numbers, but is due to release its first-quarter sales figures on Thursday. According to industry data, Ford's sales fell 2 percent in the quarter and 5 percent in March. Ford representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. FCA reported a 7 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and a 3 percent drop for the first quarter. All of FCA's brands dropped in March, except for Ram, which saw a 15 percent increase in pickup truck sales. "The industry had a tough first quarter, but with spring finally starting to show its face and continued strong economic indicators ... we are confident that new vehicle sales demand will strengthen going forward," FCA's U.S. head of sales, Reid Bigland, said in a statement. Toyota reported a 3.5 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and 5 percent for the first quarter, hurt by declining demand for its Corolla sedans and Camry vehicles. "While some of our competitors are abandoning sedans, we remain optimistic about the future of the segment," Toyota said in a statement. Nissan posted a 5.3 percent drop in sales in March, and its first-quarter sales were down 11.6 percent. Honda and Hyundai bucked the trend. Honda's U.S. sales rose 4.3 percent in March and 2 percent in the quarter, while Hyundai's were up 1.7 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively. Passenger-car sales suffered throughout the January-March quarter compared with the same period in 2018 as Americans continued to abandon them in favor of larger, more comfortable pickup trucks and SUVs, which are far more profitable for automakers. The battle for market share in the particularly lucrative large-pickup truck market intensified in the quarter, as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Ram brand outsold the U.S.' No. 1 automaker General Motors' Chevrolet-brand trucks. The two automakers have both launched redesigned pickup trucks.

Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn told European regulators that more stringent emissions standards too soon will be a major problem for automakers. He says that such moves could prove "fatal" for an auto industry that is still working to develop cleaner vehicles. "Every gram of CO2 that we save in our European fleet costs our group almost 100 million euros," says Winterkorn, "100 million that we have to invest in advance, without knowing when these investments pay off." He says that already creating emissions targets beyond those set for 2020 could harm European automakers competing globally. Read more at Automotive News Europe. When a Detroit Chevrolet dealership lost its Internet connection, it turned to one of its Chevy Volts for a temporary fix. After the regular connection at Buff Whelan Chevrolet went down, it plugged in a Volt showroom model equipped with 4G LTE, and used its connection to resume business. The car can handle up to seven connected devices, so the team used a Malibu to connect the rest of its computers. When a customer asked why the Volt was on, the team explained the whole situation, leading to one impressed customer. Read more at Automotive News. UAW angered over VW workers getting right to defend anti-union vote

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

The United Auto Workers have called a decision by the National Labor Relations Board allowing anti-UAW employees at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga the right to defend voting down unionization at the plant "an outrage."
You'll recall that the union was defeated by a vote of 712 to 626 in a contentious February election. The UAW claims the outcome was unfairly swayed by pro-business, anti-union forces, including Senator Bob Corker and political advocate Grover Norquist.
This new decision by the NLRB essentially gives workers backed by the anti-UAW National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation and Southern Momentum a formal voice in the impending hearing on the UAW's appeal of the vote.
