This sweet little bug has been restored and is rust free (including the floor pans). The original owner was a stickler for making sure this car was taken care of... oil changes, engine service, etc. The car's "service history" sits in the glove box... documented in the original manual that came with this car when it was new.
I am the third owner and purchased the car in 2008 from a gentleman who took the car completely apart and restored it to its current state. I have re-badged the car the "spunky monkey" as it starts immediately and runs like a champ.
As you can see, there are quite a few things that make this car stand out. I have yet to take it out and not get the honk... or nostalgic wave from motorists around me. It's very cool when you're sitting at a light and the car beside you rolls down the window to give you props and tell you about their own beetle story. Definitely starts a lot of conversations with "strangers" but that's the fun thing about this car!!!
The Beetle has been a garage kept car - and has recently been sitting idle. Unfortunately, the car is in Cincinnati... and I now live in Fort Lauderdale. This car should be showcased... and driven! FYI - this Beetle won first place in its division at the Volkswagen Club of South Florida car show.
The paint on this car is fantastic. Oh, there may be a few imperfections... but when you wash this car and shine it up - they disappear - behind the overall quality of the paint job. This is a Sun Bug... and it does have a sun roof. Full disclosure... the sun roof needs a new drain plug and does leak in heavy rain. Just haven't gotten around to it - as I generally would only drive the car in good weather.
The speedometer works - but the mileage counter no longer turns miles. The left turn signal doesn't self cancel. An easy fix - just needs a new canceling pin. There is a custom stereo in the car. I've had the headliner completely replaced. The brakes have 200 miles on them. Interior is in good, clean condition.
Folks, this is a 39 year old car that turns heads. With that being said, this car is not perfect (by today's standards) it's actually incredibly primitive. It definitely deserves tender loving care from someone who wants to enjoy the nostalgic memories of the classic Volkswagen Beetle. And for you Beetle aficionados... yes, it still has that unique Volkswagen interior odor that as soon as you smell it - brings back amazing VW memories.
Obviously, I am selling this car as is.

New VW Beetle Convertible ad needs no disguise
Mon, 18 Feb 2013Convertibles make you do funny things. Ask someone if they'd drive a hardtop in near freezing temperatures with all the windows down and they might not even answer, thinking the question so ridiculous. Give that same person a convertible they love and you might just have to ask them to please put the top up even when snow is on the ground.
That guy has to take precautions to enjoy his proclivities, and as this new ad for the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible shows, not everyone understands. Have a watch below, and note that there's just one woman in the minute-long spot, and she's nowhere near the car. Seriously, why didn't VW run this commercial during the Super Bowl?
Volkswagen poised to enter F1 with Red Bull
Sun, Sep 20 2015The Volkswagen Group could finally be preparing to enter Formula One, and enter it in a big way. That is, at least, if the latest reports prove accurate. And given the source, we're taking notice. The word around the paddock this weekend in Singapore has it that VW is entering into a partnership with Red Bull Racing that would see the German auto giant not only supply the team with engines, but buy the team altogether. The move would come as a welcome development for Red Bull, which took four consecutive world championships between 2010 and 2013, but has fallen off pace over the past couple of seasons due in large part to the under-performance of its Renault engines. The deal, which according to the report is currently being finalized, would see VW develop an all-new engine for Red Bull (and potentially for Toro Rosso and other customer teams), but the new power unit wouldn't be ready before 2018. In the interim, Red Bull would break off its current deal with Renault a year early and switch to another customer engine arrangement, with Ferrari currently rumored to be the favorite. The energy drink company that currently owns the team, in turn, would revert to a (prominent) sponsorship role - similar, it bears noting, to the role it plays with VW's World Rally Championship team. The termination of the relationship with Red Bull could spell the end of Renault's current F1 program, unless the French manufacturer carries through with plans to reacquire its stake in the Lotus team that was once its own. The VW deal would also ostensibly put to rest the mooted arrangement that would have seen Red Bull switch from Infiniti sponsorship and Renault engines to a similar deal with Aston Martin and Mercedes. What isn't clear at this moment is which brand Volkswagen would choose to promote with the new F1 program. Audi is speculated to be the favorite, which would likely spell the end of its Le Mans prototype endurance racing program – leaving that realm to Porsche after a solid decade and a half of dominance. The board in Stuttgart could, however, opt to hand the opportunity to one of its other brands, including Bugatti, Bentley, Lamborghini, Seat, Skoda, or the Volkswagen brand itself. The news comes from not only from the BBC, but from its analyst Eddie Jordan – a man who knows a thing or two about running an F1 team... and selling one. Jordan ran his eponymous grand prix team from 1991 through 2005.
German investigators search VW headquarters, take documents
Thu, Oct 8 2015German investigators are no longer pursuing an official investigation against former Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn, but prosecutors aren't giving up their detective work into the automaker's actions surrounding its diesel emissions scandal. In their latest move, authorities have searched VW's headquarters in Wolfsburg and confiscated documents and other data to learn more about how a software-based "defeat device" made it into the real world, according to Reuters. VW described the amount of material that it handed over as "comprehensive." The automaker is also conducting its own, internal investigation, but the company isn't releasing those results, yet. It has allegedly responded by suspending over 10 employees, including three top engineers. There has been reportedly no actual evidence found against this trio of men. In addition to the work of German prosecutors, many US investigators are looking into VW's actions, as well. The West Virginia Attorney General is suing the company for fraud, and there are pending class-action lawsuits. In written testimony for a Congressional hearing, Michael Horn, President and CEO of VW Group of America, said he first learned of the emissions noncompliance when the West Virginia University study was published in the spring of 2014. A recall on the affected Volkswagens isn't expected to begin until at least January, according to CEO Matthias Muller, and it could be later for some models. The costs to fix them all and deal with potential fines means that VW must delay some projects to save money. Put another way, VW will be dealing with the repercussions of this scandal for years.
