This sweet little bug has been restored and is rust free (including the floor pans).  The original owner was a stickler for making sure this car was taken care of... oil changes, engine service, etc.   The car's "service history" sits in the glove box... documented in the original manual that came with this car when it was new.

I am the third owner and purchased the car in 2008 from a gentleman who took the car completely apart and restored it to its current state.  I have re-badged the car the "spunky monkey" as it starts immediately and runs like a champ.

As you can see, there are quite a few things that make this car stand out.  I have yet to take it out and not get the honk...  or nostalgic wave from motorists around me.  It's very cool when you're sitting at a light and the car beside you rolls down the window to give you props and tell you about their own beetle story.  Definitely starts a lot of conversations with "strangers" but that's the fun thing about this car!!!

The Beetle has been a garage kept car - and has recently been sitting idle.  Unfortunately, the car is in Cincinnati... and I now live in Fort Lauderdale.  This car should be showcased... and driven!  FYI - this Beetle won first place in its division at the Volkswagen Club of South Florida car show.

The paint on this car is fantastic.  Oh, there may be a few imperfections... but when you wash this car and shine it up - they disappear - behind the overall quality of the paint job.  This is a Sun Bug... and it does have a sun roof.  Full disclosure... the sun roof needs a new drain plug and does leak in heavy rain.  Just haven't gotten around to it - as I generally would only drive the car in good weather.

The speedometer works - but the mileage counter no longer turns miles.  The left turn signal doesn't self cancel.  An easy fix - just needs a new canceling pin.  There is a custom stereo in the car.  I've had the headliner completely replaced.  The brakes have 200 miles on them.  Interior is in good, clean condition.

Folks, this is a 39 year old car that turns heads.  With that being said, this car is not perfect (by today's standards) it's actually incredibly primitive. It definitely deserves tender loving care from someone who wants to enjoy the nostalgic memories of the classic Volkswagen Beetle.  And for you Beetle aficionados... yes, it still has that unique Volkswagen interior odor that as soon as you smell it - brings back amazing VW memories.

Obviously, I am selling this car as is.

Volkswagen e-Co-Motion concept poised for delivery to Geneva

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

With Nissan getting ready to launch the e-NV200, it appears Volkswagen is looking to go after the same zero-emission commercial vehicle market with the all-electric 2013 e-Co-Motion Concept. Debuting next week at the Geneva Motor Show, the e-Co-Motion Concept might be small in size, but VW says it has cargo and payload capacities that should be perfect for small businesses.
Measuring 179 inches long, 75 inches wide and 77 inches tall, the e-Co-Motion Concept has about the same footprint as the current Golf, and it has a cargo capacity of 162 cubic feet and a maximum payload of more than 1,700 pounds. There isn't too much information on the e-Co-Motion just yet - such as what electric components and platform are used - but the press release posted below states while the concept is shown as a cargo van, future body styles could include a passenger wagon or a refrigerated box van.

UAW Falls 87 Votes Short Of Major Victory In South

Sat, Feb 15 2014

Just 87 votes at the Volkswagen plant in Tennessee separated the United Auto Workers union from what would have been its first successful organization of workers at a foreign automaker in the South. Instead of celebrating a potential watershed moment for labor politics in the region, UAW supporters were left crestfallen by the 712-626 vote against union representation in the election that ended Friday night. The result stunned many labor experts who expected a UAW win because Volkswagen tacitly endorsed the union and even allowed organizers into the Chattanooga factory to make sales pitches. The loss is a major setback for the UAW's effort to make inroads in the growing South, where foreign automakers have 14 assembly plants, eight built in the past decade, said Kristin Dziczek, director of the labor and industry group at the Center for Automotive Research, an industry think tank in Michigan. "If this was going to work anywhere, this is where it was going to work," she said of the Volkswagen vote. Organizing a Southern plant is so crucial to the union that UAW President Bob King told workers in a speech that the union has no long-term future without it. The loss means the union remains largely quarantined with the Detroit Three in the Midwest and Northeast. Many viewed VW as the union's best chance to gain a crucial foothold in the South because other automakers have not been as welcoming as Volkswagen. Labor interests make up half of the supervisory board at VW in Germany, and they questioned why the Chattanooga plant is the company's only major factory worldwide without formal worker representation. VW wanted a German-style "works council" in Chattanooga to give employees a say over working conditions. The company says U.S. law won't allow it without an independent union. In Chattanooga, the union faced stern opposition from Republican politicians who warned that a UAW victory would chase away other automakers who might come to the region. Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee was the most vocal opponent, saying that he was told that VW would soon announce plans to build a new SUV in Chattanooga if workers rejected the union. That was later denied by a VW executive, who said the union vote had no bearing on expansion decisions. Other state politicians threatened to cut off state incentives for the plant to expand if the union was approved.

VW pulls Lamborghini and Bentley from the Paris Motor Show

Tue, Sep 20 2016

It's been slightly more than a year since the news that Volkswagen had intentionally cheated on diesel emissions testing broke. Since then, the company's reputation and image have suffered and it has struggled to regain its footing and composure. The automaker is shelling out billions in fines, so cost cutting is inevitable. Today, Reuters reports that Volkswagen subsidiaries Lamborghini and Bentley won't bring their elaborate displays to the Paris Motor Show next week. Auto shows can cost automakers millions of dollars, especially for supercar and luxury car brands that constantly try to compete and one-up with each other. Much of the money and fanfare goes to catering the media, and if an automaker has nothing new to reveal it can be difficult to justify the expense. The company told Reuters that it plans to attend smaller events that focus more on potential buyers. The Volkswagen group as a whole has shifted it's focus, both when it comes to products and auto shows like Paris. Next week, the automaker will be focusing on electric vehicles and electromobility. The company plans to reveal a new EV with 373 miles of range, eclipsing both the Tesla Model 3 and Chevy Bolt. Volkswagen has plans for 30 new electric vehicles by 2025. Lamborghini and Bentley aren't the only major automakers skipping Paris. Ford, Volvo, and Aston Martin have all decided to save money and focus their efforts elsewhere. Related Video:
