1972 Volkswagen Beetle Standard Bug Solid Good Running Daily Driver on 2040-cars
Marengo, Ohio, United States
Vehicle Title:Clear
Used
Model: Beetle - Classic
Drive Type: Rear
Year: 1972
Mileage: 28,000
Trim: Standard
72 standard beetle. Solid pans, solid body. Only bad
rust is the outside heater channel where the running board mounts and
the front shock towers are getting soft. New parts: battery, starter,
exhaust, fuel tank, trans mounts, flywheel, clutch, pertronix ignition
and coil, bosch plug wires,, comes with new ball joints. includes panel
to fix the bad channel. Nice interior aside from the back seat, working
original radio and 8 track.
Car runs, drives, and stops great. The only real driveability issues are the ball joints are beginning to get sloppy, and it will need tires as they are a bit weather checked. The original oil bath air cleaner and new heater tubes are with it, I had the air cleaner off to tune the carb and just finished installing the muffler May consider trades for? Prefer pre 67 cars, projects or whatever, will trade up or down. Has a clean, Ohio title ready to go.I have been driving it quite a bit and it cruises down the road at 65 mph with little effort, strong runner and great daily driver. |

2014 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible gets the R-Line treatment
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Volkswagen just launched the topless Beetle Convertible at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, but we're already seeing the next step forward in the topless Bug range with this, the R-Line. We'll admit, this treatment falls under the "all show and no go" category, but it's still a pretty potent little cutie.
The R-Line starts with a standard Beetle Turbo Convertible but adds unique 19-inch aluminum wheels on lower-profile tires, LED daytime running lamps and Xenon headlamps. Naturally, there are R-Line badges aplenty both on the interior and exterior, and we must say, the whole package looks pretty darn snazzy.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but when it goes on sale later this year, the hotter convertible will join Volkswagen's growing R-Line portfolio that now includes the CC, Beetle hatch, Tiguan and Touareg.
Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe is a green fun-machine we want to drive
Fri, 19 Apr 2013Think back to January's Detroit Auto Show. Those of you that are fans of the Volkswagen brand, impressed with green technology or simply fall into the "diesel geek" category, will almost certainly remember VW's CrossBlue concept with its diesel/electric hybrid powertrain, seating for seven, and somewhat awkward crossover styling. It was an impressive piece of future tech, to be sure, though it left something to be desired in the, well, desirability department.
Here in Shanghai, VW has brought along a CrossBlue Coupe concept that would seem to include most of the goodness of the original, but flavored with more sport and style this time around.
The CrossBlue Coupe makes use of the same electric drive components as the larger three-row concept: two electric motors (front and rear) powered by a 9.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. However, where the original concept made use of a TDI four-cylinder, the Coupe substitutes a 295-horsepower, direct-injection, gasoline-burning V6.
Porsche-Piech buy 10% stake in VW's holding company
Tue, 18 Jun 2013In August, 2009, as the scuttled merger of Porsche and Volkswagen had gone bad and Porsche was backed up against the ropes, Porsche Automobil Holding SE (PAHSE) relinquished a ten-percent stake in itself to Qatar Holdings as well as options it held on 17 percent of VW shares. The sale meant that, for the first time since the founding of the company 61 years before, an entity outside the Porsche and Piech families had a say in the running of PAHSE.
Buying that ten-percent stake back returns full ownership to the two families, the holding company's sole possession being ownership of 50.7 percent of VW's common shares. The price paid wasn't disclosed, but at market rates the purchase would be worth close to $1.25 billion. Qatar intends to hold onto the 17-percent stake it has in Volkswagen.
