Heres a 1972 Volkswagen bug, red with black interior. Drivetrain: Engine fires right up and runs great, no smoke, and transmission shifts well. The car was registered and on the road until just recently, and I still drive it up and down the street occaisonally to keep the fluids fresh.I have the original owners manual, radio manual, and dealer network book. Brakes work but require a bit of extra pressure so it may need an adjusment or shoes replaced maybe. The E-brake works as well. The lights, instruments, factory radio, wipers, etc. are in working order. The heater is disconnected. The car has newer tires(correct ones for a classic vw), perfect hubcaps, and the rims were repainted recently. The car was originally yellow but now is red. You can see around some of the lights and body gaskets where the yellow is showing, however the underside of hood, trunk lid,and jams were painted red to match. The interior is clean with a good dash, headliner and back seat, drivers seat has tears in base and the passenger seat has a small hole in the upper corner. The rubber seals around windows etc look original and are dry. Overall the car looks decent going down the road and gets alot of attention, but has some imperfections in the paint, and some bubbles in areas like around the fender. The floors and heater channels had work done at some point and are solid. As you can see from the photo, the inside of trunk and spare tire well are super clean and solid, however the area that needs attention is just below this in the front of the car. The lower part of the "frame head" as it is called has significant rust and should be repaired or replaced. It affects the inner wheel wells and there's some thinness in some of the rocker areas. The car feels solid from behind the wheel, steers fine, and the doors close tight, and although it was being driven like this, I urge the buyer to go through the front end and make the necessary repairs. They are aftermarket frame head replacements available for less than $100. Because of this issue the reserve is very low. There are too many nice things about this car to part it out or anything like that, so I hope the new owner will keep it going. The car is sold as is with no warranty, and the buyer is responsible for pick-up. Connecticut does not have titles on antique cars but I do have the last registration and an official CT Q-1 bill of sale for transferring legal ownership in this state. Contact me with any questions by email or call (eight-six-zero)-377-0700. Thanks for looking!

Volkswagen Golf, Ford F-150 named 2015 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year
Mon, Jan 12 2015Congratulations, Volkswagen Golf/GTI and Ford F-150. You've just been named the 2015 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year, kicking off the first press day of the Detroit Auto Show. The Golf faced some seriously stiff competition from its runners-up, the Ford Mustang and Hyundai Genesis. But the Golf has been a highly awarded vehicle since its launch, including recently being named Motor Trend's Car of the Year. As for the Truck/Utility award, it wasn't immediately clear that the aluminum-bodied Ford F-150 would win the North American honor, topping the Chevrolet Colorado and Lincoln MKC. The Chevy, after all, has been widely praised since arriving this fall, including taking home MT's Truck of the Year award. In 2014, Chevrolet had a sweep of the NACTOY awards, with the Corvette Stingray and Silverado taking top honors. Here's a look at the 2015 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year voting breakdown. As you can see, it wasn't exactly neck and neck. Car of the Year Volkswagen Golf/GTI – 256 points Ford Mustang – 204 points Hyundai Genesis – 110 points Truck/Utility of the Year Ford F-150 – 297 points Chevrolet Colorado – 205 points Lincoln MKC – 68 points The winners were determined by the votes of 57 North American jurors who work in all forms of media – magazine, newspaper, television, online and radio, and their ballots were tabulated in secret by accounting firm Deloitte & Touche. Autoblog editors Sharon Carty and Chris Paukert are members of the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year jury. Child cobalt miners: Automakers pledge ethical minerals sourcing for EVs
Wed, Nov 29 2017BERLIN - Leading carmakers including Volkswagen and Toyota pledged on Wednesday to uphold ethical and socially responsible standards in their purchases of minerals for an expected boom in electric vehicle production. Demand for minerals such as cobalt, graphite and lithium is forecast to soar in the coming years as governments crack down on vehicle pollution and carmakers step up their investments in electric models. To cover its plans for more than 80 new models by 2025, Volkswagen alone is looking for partners in China, Europe and North America to provide battery cells and related technology worth more than 50 billion euros ($59 billion). Talks with major cobalt producers, including Glencore, at VW's Wolfsburg headquarters last week ended without a deal. More than half of the world's cobalt comes from the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country racked by political instability and legal opacity, and where child labor is used in mines. On Wednesday, a group of 10 leading passenger-car and truck manufacturers announced an initiative to jointly identify and address ethical, environmental, human and labor rights issues in raw materials sourcing. The partnership dubbed "Drive Sustainability" consists of VW, Toyota Motor Europe, Ford, Daimler, BMW, Honda, Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo Cars and truckmakers Scania and Volvo. The alliance "will assess the risks posed by the top raw materials (such as mica, cobalt, rubber and leather) in the automotive sector," said Stefan Crets of the CSR Europe business network. "This will allow Drive Sustainability to identify the most impactful activities to pursue" to address issues within the supply chain.Reporting by Andreas Cremer.Related Video: Image Credit: Michael Robinson Chavez/The Washington Post via Getty Images Green BMW Ford Honda Jaguar Land Rover Mercedes-Benz Automakers Toyota Volkswagen Volvo Green Automakers Green Culture Electric Scania ethics mining
Auto execs surveyed say VW, BMW most likely to grow
Thu, 17 Jan 2013A new survey of top global automotive executives indicates both Volkswagen and BMW are the most likely to grow their market share over the next five years.
Tax advisory firm KPMG LLP has released its 14th annual Global Automotive Executive Survey, which includes responses from over 200 executives. A total of 81 percent of respondents said they expect to see Volkswagen make gains, compared to 70 percent last year. BMW, meanwhile, saw 70 percent of those surveyed say they believe the company will increase its market share. That's a jump of 7 percentage points over last year. This is the first time in the history of the survey that BMW has claimed the second-place spot.
Meanwhile, Hyundai has seen its perceived market share potential slacken for the third year in a row. Around 61 percent of those surveyed predicted gains for Hyundai, down from 63 in 2012. Toyota also has a surprising year, but for just the opposite reason. While the manufacturer had slipped in ranking since 2011, it enjoyed the largest increase of any company in the 2013 survey, jumping to 68 percent from 44 percent last year.
