This is a 1972 v8 vw bug project.( THE WHEELS DONT GO WITH THE CAR)Please read all before bidding because I have parts that I didn't take pics of. I have a clear tn title for the bug. This is a square tube custom chassis with 4 wheel disk brakes, 4 link rear suspension with panhard bar with coil over shocks. IT has tube front a arms, new coil overs for the front, rack and pinion. The firewall is 90% done, the floor is 90% done needs little more welding and it needs a trans tunnel. Custom chassis is made to the body, motor and trans mounts are tacked in, motor is bad JUST USED IT FOR SET UP ONLY. The trans is a 400 turbo that I bought as a good one? Car comes with new aluminum radiator, hpc coated block hugger headers, a new I did it tilt steering column still in the box, new steering u joints and shaft to hook up all the steering. New front hood, New 3in wider rear glass fenders, New glass running boards and new 2in wider front glass fenders. I also have a gas tank that will fit in the rear of the car where the org motor went, I have some of the glass and the window regulators for the doors, New trans cooler. I have a set of tail lights and head light buckets that will go with the car.I just don't have the time to finish the car so it needs a good home and someone needs to enjoy this car. I reserve the right to stop the auction for I have the car for sale locally. If the car doesn't sale I would be interested in a trade for something old or at least something that's running and not a big project. So happy bidding and good luck. I drive a truck and im gone a lot so it would be best to call with any Q. 423-400-4414 Thanks BOBBY

Volkswagen Golf Wagon caught completely uncovered
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Without a lot of information to go with them, our camera-toting spies have captured some new images of a Volkswagen Golf wagon variant that is almost completely undisguised. In fact, the one piece of camouflage on the tidy wagon would probably have gone unnoticed to most casual viewers. Look closely at the rear three-quarter view of the car and you'll notice that the apparent taillight clusters are actually fakes - the outline of the real units is faintly visible behind the blue bodywork and the sticker-like fake taillights.
It's a good guess then, that this Golf wagon (called a Golf Kombi by our spy photographer) is a prototype that's pretty far along in the development cycle for Volkswagen. We can't be sure what impact this will have on the company's small wagon offering here in the US, but we'd be pretty surprised if something very like this didn't end up as the next Jetta SportWagen. We might well have more information on that front, after we visit Geneva next week.
An inside look at VW's new California R&D center
Thu, 18 Oct 2012Less than two months ago, the Volkswagen Group opened a new facility in Oxnard, California (about an hour's drive west of Los Angeles). The $27 million investment, touted as Test Center California (TCC), serves as a research and development lab testing emissions for all brands under Volkswagen's umbrella, including its newest member, Porsche. While still not fully operational, we toured the new 64,000-square-foot building last week and had a first-hand opportunity to see just how much work is involved testing engines and meeting increasingly stringent government emissions standards.
Replacing a similar facility established in 1990 in Westlake Village (about 20-minutes east of the new location), our guide explained how Oxnard was chosen for its temperate climate, varied regional terrain for test drives and low altitude. (The area is only a few feet above sea level - a critical parameter when instrument testing emissions.) The new facility is capable of analyzing hundreds of vehicles, prototypes and customer-owned vehicles, annually.
Most interesting to us was the huge stainless steel climate chamber, with a massive four-wheel dynamometer that allows VW to test running vehicles in both scorching desert and freezing climates without ever leaving the building (an Audi Q7 was running in place during our visit). We were also mesmerized by the countless storage tanks and intricate plumbing of chemicals, stored in both liquid and gas states, needed to perform the variety of tests. Lastly, we took a look at Bugatti's service center on the west coast, located completely within the new center. While there were no supercars on site, the facility is equipped with plenty of spare forged wheels (mounted with expensive Michelin PAX tires) and a Veyron-specific repair jig that allows the vehicle to be completely disassembled, if needed. It is a shame that the facility, which set off all of our automotive geek alerts, is closed to the public.
Volkswagen Group previews its wares on eve of Geneva show
Mon, 05 Mar 2012The Volkswagen Group is comprised of 11 brands producing 240 vehicles across 49 factories throughout the world. So the best way to show off the range of the VW family is to cram a few thousand journalists and VIPs into a massive makeshift stand to outline the Group's goals, what's in the pipeline and what you'll be able to buy later this year.
To that end, VW pulled out all the stops on the eve of the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, bringing along 10 vehicles from across the range. We'll be delving into the details of each over the next two days of show coverage, but before that happens, you can read all about what we saw tonight from the cheap seats after the break.
