1970 Vw Beetle Baja, Pan Off Restoration! Beautiful Classic! Drive Anywhere! on 2040-cars
Clovis, New Mexico, United States
Love this car but have way to many toys, and this one is the only one that my whole family can't enjoy. Wife said something about 3 children and only 4 seats? I don't get it either...
This one is a 1970. Pan off restoration, nice paint, all new interior, all window seals, and rubber stuff is new. Suspension, brakes, tires, clutch etc are new. Rebuilt 1600 dp. Floor pans are perfect, not a bit of rust anywhere. Never been off-road. The only thing I would do to finish it off is to pull and detail up the motor a little better. The PO brush painted the tins with the paint that was used to spray the car. It doesn't look bad, but it would look a lot better with some powder coating or chrome. The car is Royal purple, the wildcats on the sides are vinyl and removable if you don't like them. I have all the receipts from the restoration from 1998-2013. This is a really sharp, well-sorted, drive anywhere bug! Smiles and thumbs up everywhere you drive; especially from children, they just love this thing! Either way you won't be disappointed with this car! Please feel free to ask any and all questions you have about this car, any extra or specific photos, etc. I am not out to hide anything, and want you to be as happy with this neat little bug as I have been! International Buyers: I would prefer to only sell within the Continental United States; however if you do live overseas and just must have this car, please contact me before bidding. Communication is key and with all the scams going around I will cancel your bid over lack of communication. Shipping: Face to face transactions preferred. If you have the car shipped then finding a shipper and having the car transported will be your responsibility. I will help if I can and will meet a transport truck near by. |

Volkswagen to add 50k jobs by 2018
Thu, 04 Apr 2013Volkswagen still has its eyes set on becoming the top global automaker by 2018, and to get there, it's apparently going to need more boots on the ground. Automotive News Europe is reporting that VW is looking to increase its staff by 50,000 over the next five years - an increase of nine percent - which does not include an increase in its US dealer network.
According to the report, a majority of the growth will come from China where the automaker is also looking to double its production capacity in the same time frame. The Volkswagen Group is already expected to rival General Motors for the top sales spot in China this year, and such a rapid expansion in the region could make a good springboard for sales increases in other countries.
The hottest modern sports cars rendered as rally racers
Thu, Jan 14 2016The modern-day World Rally Championship a monumental amount of fun to watch – I should know, as I recently was lucky enough to head to the UK to watch WRC Wales Rally GB – but even the most monstrous of the current WRC cars are based on fairly pedestrian European hatchbacks. Back in the heyday of rally, the Group B era in the 1980s, much hotter cars were the basis of even more incredible competition machines, for the most part. Take the exotic Ford RS200, or the Lancia Delta S4 with its twin-charged engine. And the hatchback-based Group B cars were bonkers, too. So what would some of our favorite modern cars look like if Group B had never ended? A British site named CarWow hired an artist to reimagine everything from the Rolls-Royce Wraith to the Porsche 911 as a retro-inspired rally car, and they were kind enough to let us share the results in the gallery above. The gallery features an Alfa Romeo Giulia in Martini livery, an Audi TT in classic Ur-Quattro colors, a Fiat 500 Abarth sporting massive flares and a hood blister full of auxiliary lights, a new Ford Mustang in RS200 livery, a Lancia Delta in Alitalia colors, a Porsche 911 in Rothmans livery, a Renault-Alpine in classic blue, a Rolls-Royce Wraith tribute to the Jules cologne Corniche Coupe, and a relatively modern-looking VW Touran. So far, the favorite around the office is the incredible Mercedes-Benz S-Class that is an homage to the wonderful 300 SEL 6.8 AMG "Red Pig" that essentially put AMG on the map. Check out the gallery above and see which one you like the best. Related Video:
Yes, a family of 5 can live in a 1981 VW Westfalia van
Fri, Feb 14 2014Automakers and marketers trying to reach environmentally conscious consumers who desire the simple life basically have two strategies: promote electric vehicles that can be charged through green energy or sell a 30-year-old Volkswagen van on Craigslist. Nicolas Boullosa and Kirsten Dirksen opted for Plan B and turned a 1981 Volkswagen Westfalia camper into a "micro-living" experiment. The co-founders of the simple living website faircompanies packed up their van and three young children for a road trip through the Pacific Northwest. They even turned the adventure into a documentary called Summer of (Family) Love, which you can view below. It's two hours long, so maybe add this to your weekend viewing list. They limited themselves to one backpack per person into a camper that they purchased off Craigslist and named "Westy." They stuck to their original intention of cooking all their own meals off a propane stove, creating a new little home every night in a different location, mostly spaces outside RV parks. They met up with other enthusiasts of the "tiny house" community who live like nomads. They were able to interview a few of then and, "With each stop we picked up some new piece of wisdom about life's essentials," Dirksen wrote in the faircompanies blog.
