We're selling this car because we've "upgraded" to a '70 convertible. We've used this '69 for a year and a half as a daily driver for ferrying our preschooler to school and for 11mos of 100mi runs to and from Dayton OH Grand Jury Sessions. The car runs well and is a magnet for conversation everyplace you go.

This was a solid Georgia car. The previous owner sold the car to us because he was Army and relocating. He had the motor and bodywork done. [NOTE:] The "black flaky-looking spots" in the floorpan pics are hi-gloss black enamel paint - the pans are solid] The body is rust-free, looks very good except for some dings which were there when we bought the car. When the car was repainted to Silver it was a first class paint job.

The car has always been road worthy, heat works - important here in Ohio - as do the wipers, lights, directionals and aftermkt stereo. The car would be easy to restore to a high value with minimal work. Please check NADA for this year and model. If your a serious buyer I would incourage you to come look, or have it inspected.

Former chairman Piech opposing his nieces' VW board nominations

Someone needs to option the rights to the Ferdinand Piech story for an HBO series, because it perfectly mixes the corporate intrigue of Mad Men with the family drama of The Sopranos. Plus there are some cool cars. In the latest episode, Piech isn't happy with Volkswagen's appointment of two of his nieces – Julia Kuhn-Piech and Dr. Louise Kiesling Â– to replace he and his wife on the automaker's supervisory board. The recently ousted chairman could try to stop them. According to German publication Bild, Piech thinks his two relatives lack the necessary automotive experience to serve on the board. Therefore, he suggests one-time Ford Premier Automotive Group boss Wolfgang Reitzle and former Siemens manager Brigitte Ederer to take the seats. However, a VW spokesperson told Automotive News Europe that there were no objections to the women's appointment, except for this story from Germany. Piech's nieces are already officially appointed to the VW supervisory board, and it's approved by the Braunschweig Local Court in Germany. His only real option to challenge them would be to file a lawsuit, according to Automotive News Europe. While the new appointees don't have their uncle's decades of history in the auto industry, they do have business experience. Dr. Kiesling has a degree in vehicle design from the Royal College of Art in London and is the managing director of an Austrian textile maker. Kuhn-Piech works in real estate sits on the supervisory board of German truck maker Man.

Meet ZelectricBug, the amazing '63 VW Bug converted to EV power

No word a lie, we here at AutoblogGreen are fans of classic cars. What we are not fond of, however, is the pollution that their inefficient engines create, and so it's great to see our old favorites lovingly up-cycled with electric drivetrains. The ZelectricBug is a beautiful example of how new, cleaner life can be breathed into an old Volkswagen Beetle. Now, we first came across this particular automobile during the Refuel event last summer and we were struck by its cleanly done conversion then. Aside from a few snaps in our gallery, though, we didn't give it the kind of attention it deserves. Fortunately, the good folks over at Roads and Rides have rectified this by turning their pro video camera skills onto the 1963 V-Dub and producing a nice little segment to accompany their write up.
