1967 Pink Panther Beetle No Reserve on 2040-cars
Merced, California, United States
Up for NO RESERVE AUCTION is this very unique and beautiful 1967 Volkswagen Beetle. If you know Volkswagens then you know that 1967 is considered by most VW lovers as the very best year. This little beauty was restored and painted 1971 Dodge Challenger “Panther Pink” about four years ago; it has been used very little since then, maybe 5K miles. Runs and drives great, cruises at freeway speeds with no problem. If you have ever owned or driven one of these neat little cars you know how much fun they can be. Buy your wife or daughter a car they will never forget. Sure to be a hit at any VW show, not a 100 point show car, it has a couple of small nicks and a little ripple on the motor cover, but it’s really straight and shiny. No rust. The motor is a single port 1600 cc, it runs great and has a lot of power. Tires are almost new. Has a very nice Pioneer sound system also. Clear California title, smog exempt. NO RESERVE AUCTION! This means someone will get this little beauty. I’ll ship anywhere in the world at buyer’s expense, I can help arrange shipping to your door. Please remember that you are bidding to buy, not just come look. Full payment is due three days after the end of the auction and I don’t take PayPal for payment on cars. What else can you buy with the history and reliability of a VW Beetle? Buy this beauty for the price of a used Camry. Available for inspection on Tue, Wed and Thur only. Call me at 831-383-2499 with questions. Good luck and HAPPY BIDDING!! |

VW Golf GTI wrung out by Chris Harris
Thu, 27 Jun 2013Enthusiasts like nothing more than to crucify modern interpretations of their favorite performance models for failing to live up to some imagined ethos. Even the Volkswagen GTI has suffered its fair share of slings and arrows for growing in size and curb weight. Chris Harris recently spent some time with the all-new MK VII GTI to find out if growing up means giving up on what makes the machine so special.
Judging by his comments, Harris certainly doesn't think so. Yes, the new GTI is considerably more comfortable than its predecessors, but that's hardly a bad thing. The multitude of driving modes actually seem to add depth to the car rather than simply try to force one tool to do many jobs, and Harris even finds the machine's electronic power steering tolerable. As a result, Harris goes so far as to call the Volkswagen GTI "one of the best cars to actually own." How's that for high praise? You can watch the video for yourself by scrolling below.
2014 Volkswagen Golf GTD is our favorite oil-burning GTI
Tue, 05 Mar 2013
The 2014 Volkswagen Golf GTD has officially bowed at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Engineers managed to squeeze an additional 14 horsepower and 22 pound-feet of torque out of the familiar 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine, nudging total output to 184 hp and 280 lb-ft for 2014. The figures are good enough to earn the GTD the honor of being the most powerful diesel Golf in Volkswagen history. A start/stop system helps improve efficiency over the previous generation with the new model consuming 56 miles per gallon on the EU cycle. That's up from the 2013 model's 46 mpg. A six-speed manual transmission is standard equipment, though a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox is also available.
The GTD also offers buyers a few aesthetic tweaks to help separate the hatch from its less potent siblings. Those include a more aggressive front fascia, special badges and 17-inch alloy wheels. Expect to find the GTD in one of three exterior colors, including Tornado Red, Black and Pure White. Check out the quick press release below for more details.
Volkswagen Golf Variant Concept R-Line puts the sport in SportWagen
Wed, 06 Mar 2013With the introduction of the newest Volkswagen Golf Variant, we get an early look at what will most likely be the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here in the US. To further wet our appetities, VW is now teasing something a little sportier with the Concept R-Line. Looking the part of a GTI wagon (or a stretched Golf R), the Golf Variant Concept R-Line has a production-ready appearance that has us hoping we'll see this sporty wagon sooner rather than later.
The R-Line starts off with a new fascia that isn't quite as aggressive as the recently introduced GTI, but it gives the new styling some extra punch. Below the fascia is a lower splitter that visually carries back into the rocker panel extensions, and the rear of the car gets some bright exhaust tips and a rear diffuser. The Lapis Blue Metallic paint job probably does enough on its own to add a sporty flair to the Golf wagon, and it's all finished off with 18-inch split-spoke wheels. Inside, the Concept R-Line shows off sport seats wrapped in carbon leather featuring blue nappa inserts in the middle.
Rightfully so, VW brought the Concept R-Line to Geneva with its TDI and 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. A sporty, all-wheel-drive diesel wagon? Yes, please. Scroll down for the full press blast with all the details.
