1966 Vw Beetle on 2040-cars
Braintree, Massachusetts, United States
Found this 1966 VW Beetle up in New Hampshire. All glass in perfect condition. The windows crank up and down. Floor pan looks almost perfect no holes or rust. Interior is good, not great. Head liner has some small holes. Has a spare tire with no jack. Checked out the brakes and steering, all good. Changed the oil and added a new battery, Added new gas and she started up. She a runner and a driver,,,,NOT BAD. Drove it down the road. Clutch is good, transmission and front end all good. Stops perfect. Engine is STRONG. The rear seat is the color black not red. (not sure why). Was able to get all the light working.
Radio works, wipers work. You could drive this car now and restore it later. There are small spots where the paint has peeled off and the bumpers are rusty chrome in places. I have not started to clean up the paint, but it looks like a good wet sand and buff, would make this bug look 100% better. Because New Hampshire does not require titles on older cars, this car is sold with a bill of sale only. I tried to described the condition as best as I can. Any questions please email me. |

2013 Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet
Thu, 07 Mar 2013The Golf VI's Last Hurrah Is Pure Niche
This was in the heart of the ultra-chic Côte d'Azur during winter. The car to be tested was the not-for-North America 2013 Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet. Prevailing weather conditions here this time of year are bizarrely pleasant, as though a dome of Swarovski crystal has been placed over the entire region to protect it from any real winter spoiling things. And the zippy Golf R Cabriolet is a sports car designed precisely for this area's preciously narrow winding streets, as well as for the lofty budgets of its property owners.
So then why was it snowing like we were in northern Michigan? The weather front hit from the north like a swift kick to the Jordaches. The roof was open on this Candy White Golf R Cabrio and I, as is my wont, was determined through thick or thin to keep it retracted. It had been raining and sometimes sleeting like the End of Days, but I kept the lid cracked because the 261-horsepower cabrio - the most powerful convertible ever built by Volkswagen - was snipping along nicely as the bad weather blew over my head and wetted only the rear headrests.
Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
