This car is a PARTY on Wheels

Im kind of know for building some crazy looking motorcycles and selling them, the last bike I sold I took in a 1966 Volkswagen Bug in on trade. So I wanted to transform into the old school Tijuana Taxi. When I got the car it ran good at sometime someone has put in a newer 1600cc VW motor with dual carbs, it starts right up and runs fine. Like most bugs it does leak some oil and after stopping on a long drive it will smoke a bit. The car have been lowered with drop spindles. New tires have just been installed and have less then 10 miles on them. It starts right up every single time and drives out pretty good for what it is. Like a bunch of these older beetle the floor boards are very weak and have several holes in them. The battery was almost to fall through. I didn't address much of the rust factor, it's still has holes but I wanted to make it at least safe. I did fab up a new battery box and the seat it felt like you were going to fall through, so I welded a thick plate from the door jambs to the trans tunnel and then mounted the new office chair seats. The rest of the interior was pretty trashed so I built all new panels and covered them in a Mexican fabric.

Outside I wanted the patina look so I painted the whole car in flat mocha brown and then sanded through exposing all the color underneath, then hand painted the door logo's

We had a bug car show in town this weekend and the Tijuana Taxi was a huge hit, I think it had more people around it than any other car at the show. It was a blast watching and listing to people commits, nobody could walk past it with out stopping and everyone wanted to take a picture of it. I brought along a Sombrero and let them wear it while taking pictures.

I have only had this car three weeks, my goal was to make it cool and send it down the road. I don't have the title back from the state yet but it will have a clean and clear title and I should have it back soon.

Driving down the road you get thumbs up all the time, I've even been pulled over several times with people wanting to take there picture beside it.

I've only owned this car 3 weeks and haven't driven it much my longest trip has only been 30 miles, I would not think this car would be a good daily driver, but it's perfect for car shows, parades or any other events. It has a amazing look and you will get tons of complements. I had a amazing time at our 3 day car show seeing all the smiles I but on peoples faces.

You will get all kind of attention driving this car, so if your on the FBI Wanted list don't buy this car, if you don't like attention DONT BUY THIS CAR. But if you enjoy seeing everyone smile this might be the right car for you.

For a living I sell cars on ebay for a couple of dealerships here in town, and I set up shipping every single day. So I can help you arrange shipping. I would not suggest a cross country trip until you get the car checked out a bit more.

I hope everyone loves my latest creation, it makes me smile every time I look at it. I think the car should sell for over $5000.00 but I will let you the bidder tell me what it's worth. This auction will be no reserve and I will start it at just one penny and it will sell to the highest bidder. Put I will not tolerate slow payment, I expect a $500 paypal within 24 hours and the balance within 5 days, it you cant do this don't bid.

Call or Text me Devin at 620-664-3011 with any questions.

Good Luck winning this auction and I hope you enjoy the Tijuana Taxi

VW modular platform strategy goes all-in on EVs

Tue, Jan 7 2014

The Volkswagen Group has already revealed or put on sale a broad slate of new electric vehicles: the E-up, the E-Golf (shown above), the Porsche 918 Spyder, the Panamera S E-Hybrid and the XL1. In 2014, there will be at least six more models, including the A3 Sportback E-Tron. And after that? Well, to hear Rudolf Krebs, Group Commissioner For Electric Vehicle Drive Systems, tell it, VW's future is full of plug-in goodness. "With our platform strategy, it is quite easy to bring a lot of electrified vehicles to the market for the different brands in a very short time," he said. "We try, with a minimum of those components, to produce a maximum number of variants of cars" That strategy starts with three platforms: MQB for small cars, MLB for midsize models and MSB for sporty and premium products (there's also the NSF for cars like the E-up). Speaking to AutoblogGreen, Krebs said VW has designed modules, things like engines and electric components (think: AC compressor, on-board chargers and battery management systems), to be used across all three platforms and across all brands all. "We try, with a minimum of those components, to produce a maximum number of variants of cars," he said. "This is only possible if, at an early stage of the design of new vehicles, we implement the idea that these cars are not only designed for gasoline and diesel powertrains but that we can also include CNG concepts, flex-fuel concepts, pure electric vehicles or plug-in hybrid vehicles. With minor changes in the body in white, we can produce those vehicles, bumper-to-bumper, in one factory." "VW wants to be the leader in the electrification of vehicles" In this way, customers can choose the powertrain that they want, or whatever powertrain their local regulations demand. Politicians have already put a lot of pressure on the automotive industry, with ever-stricter CO2 regulations coming into effect in all of the major markets. In the US, the fuel economy regulation numbers require the equivalent of 101 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer by 2025. Europe, it's 95 grams by 2020. And China, which is asking for 118 grams by 2020, will be a tough scenario, Krebs said. Today, by optimizing conventional technologies and supporting things like CNG and biofuels, more than 300 VW Group models emit less than 120 g/km. A hundred of those are even under 100 g/km. But this is not sufficient, and VW admits that conventional powertrains will not be not enough.

Volkswagen Golf R Variant ready to haul ass, stuff

Thu, Nov 20 2014

Volkswagen seems to be playing a cruel trick on the American automotive public at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It's displaying its sexy Golf R Variant with no clear intention of actually selling the model here. The hot wagon launches in Europe in the spring, but the automaker makes absolutely no mention of the model's prospects in the US. Hopefully, its appearance in LA at least indicates VW is considering bringing it stateside. The great thing about this wagon is that it has everything that the regular Golf R offers, but there's even more room to carry stuff. The same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes 296 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque with a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox and 4Motion all-wheel drive. Performance is very close, too, with the Variant R taking 5.1 seconds to get to 62 miles per hour versus the 4.9 seconds the standard R needs to read 60 mph. The two of them also have the same tech goodies like ESC Sport stability control and multiple damping modes. The real advantage to opting for the estate is its ability to carry up to 57.2 cubic feet of cargo in the back. This hot rod wagon would seem to be perfect for the family that needs to haul some extra junk in the trunk, but doesn't want to sacrifice performance. Whether the Variant R makes it to the US remains a mystery, though. Scroll down to read the specs and feel a twinge of jealousy.

VW confirms Golf GTD diesel coming to US for 2016

Wed, 03 Jul 2013

Part of the Volkswagen Golf recipe that has helped the car sell more than 30 million units in just under 40 years is the number of variants in which the hatchback is offered. Building on that range here in the US, Automotive News is reporting that we will finally be getting the sporty Golf GTD, likely as a 2016 model. It's the GTD, you'll recall, that crosses the performance abilities of the venerable GTI with a powerful and fuel-efficient diesel engine.
After speaking with Andreas Valbuena, Volkswagen product manager for the Golf, AN not only says that the GTD will for sale in the US in a couple years, it also estimates a baseline price of around $27,000, which would place it between the current pricing for the GTI and the Golf R. The GTD is launching in Europe this summer, but we won't be getting the seventh-generation Golf in the US for another year. The news about the performance diesel model isn't entirely unexpected - VW officials have been hinting at it for at least a year now, going so far as to import a sixth-generation model for media test drives on US soil, a task we happily took them up on last year.
The Mk VII GTD uses VW's 2.0-liter TDI engine with output increased to 184 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, allowing the car to sprint to 60 miles per hour in about seven seconds while returning more than 40 mpg in highway driving. We can't wait.
