PATINA at ITS BEST is an UNDERSTATEMENT!

FIRST time offered to the public is my JAW DROPPING ORIGINAL PAINT Turkis 1962 Ragtop PATINA MONSTER Bug still wearing its original black plates from the day it was purchased new in 1962. This bug gets more attention than you can possibly imagine! If you don’t like attention this is not the car for you. In all my years of being involved in Volkswagens, many have said this bug has the COOLEST patina and “look” they have ever seen, and I FULLY agree.

Let’s get started: I'm offering my 1962 Original paint Ragtop bug at NO RESERVE, high bidder wins. As many would agree original paint survivor cars are more appealing and sought after than your everyday restored bugs. This car has it all, a look that only Mother Nature and over 40+ years can create. It has an awesome running 1600cc single port with a mild cam, new custom exhaust, and complete servicing 500 miles ago, the engine has excellent compression and always starts right up. The transmission was recently rebuilt and works great as well. All the electrical works as it should, blinkers, lights, wipers, etc. It has all new brakes, new battery, new clutch, etc. it has added early snowflake taillights. Anything that needed to be performed to keep it maintained mechanically was done.

It has a 6" narrowed adjustable beam with NEW 4.5 Porsche Empi Wheels in the front with adapters along with NEW 165-60-15's in the front and NEW 5.5 Porsche Empi wheels in the rear with NEW 195-55-15's and Porsche 5x130 new rear drums in the rear along with an alignment so the bug goes down the road straight. The wheels are custom painted with black centers. I have over $2k in just the wheels, tires, and adapters alone! It has custom drop plates in the rear so it doesn’t wear out the rear tires. Being as low as it is, it actually rides pretty nice. If needed, I can raise the car back up to accommodate the shippers for an additional $150. In my opinion the stance is awesome!

The seats were redone a few years back and still look really nice. The carpet, door panels, and headliner are still intact and original and would need replacing to take the interior to the next level. However it never bothered me as it goes with the theme of the bug.

All the chrome and glass are in real nice shape for its age. It has the rare popout windows which is a nice accessory as well. Its really solid and cancer free. It has a patch in the passenger side of the floor pan and that’s it. Everything else on the car is solid. Of course it has some minor scuffs, chips and KILLER PATINA, to be expected for an unrestored vehicle of its age. It has NEVER been hit front or rear, no BS stories etc. The bug goes down the road straight and drives awesome! It has the rare popout windows which is a nice accessory as well.

This 1962 Ragtop bug can’t be replaced or duplicated for any amount of money. Its the real deal. No fake patina or bs stories. In my opinion, it has the BEST Patina on planet earth. I have a clear California title in hand.

Please don’t ask me for a buy it now or my lowest price. If you’re serious, I will entertain serious offers; lowballers will be ignored. I reserve the right to end the listing early for any reason at any time. Lastly, no trades please.

Overseas buyers are welcome to bid. I will do my best to assist the buyers in a smooth transaction throughout the entire process. Thank you, good luck and happy bidding.

Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept is a 201-mph hot hatch

Sun, 20 Apr 2014

This, friends, is what happens when you shoehorn 395 horsepower into a Golf. You get a three-door hatch that will happily scurry to 62 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 201 mph. Oh yes, we like you, Golf R 400 Concept.
As we explained in our original post, the R 400 is the long-awaited successor to bonkers Golf creations like the GTI W12 from 2007 and, more recently, the Design Vision GTI. It's powered by the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder found in a number of Volkswagen (and Audi, SEAT and Skoda) products, although it's been heavily massaged to pump out 332 pound-feet of torque along side its amplified horsepower.
Naturally, it's been lowered and now rides on 19-inch wheels. Outside of those changes, though, mums the word on suspension and chassis enhancements. While this is a bummer, the striking looks of the Golf R 400 more than make up for it.

German prosecutors have recorded calls between VW bigwigs talking dieselgate

Thu, Mar 21 2019

It's barely possible to believe how poorly Volkswagen continues to handle dieselgate. Depending on which day you catch the news, the German carmaker embodies the corporate venality of "Michael Clayton," the comic blundering of the Coen Brothers' "Burn After Reading," and the every-man-for-himself vengeance of "Reservoir Dogs." Today is Tarantino day, with news that German prosecutors have recordings of phone calls between former Audi and Porsche development boss Wolfgang Hatz, ex-Volkswagen Group executive Matthias Muller, and current Porsche executives Oliver Blume and Michael Steiner. Hatz made the calls to the trio in November 2015, two months after Volkswagen admitted its diesel-particulate sins to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Hatz was still employed at the time, and in his company car. Who recorded the calls? His wife. Hatz and his missus apparently saw the storm coming and started stacking defenses early. Hatz's wife, who can be heard encouraging Hatz during at least one call, sent the recordings to Hatz's attorney from her mobile phone. According to a Google translation of the German newspaper Handelsblatt's report, she included the note, "Here is a very long, but quite informative conversation on the current situation with useful formulations." The report in Handelsblatt said that in Germany it is generally "not allowed" to record a conversation and pass it on to a third party. We don't know how the authorities will handle this matter, since prosecutors found the recordings in e-mail attachments on Mrs. Hatz's mobile phone. Remember, when the diesel scandal broke, VW spent months saying that only a small number of low-level personnel were behind it, and all of the higher-ups had been blindsided. Ex-CEO Martin Winterkorn claimed to be "stunned that misconduct on such a scale was possible in the Volkswagen Group." Winterkorn successor Matthias Muller said, "according to current information, a few developers interfered in the engine management." Former VW USA honcho Michael Horn told a congressional committee that "a couple of software engineers" programmed the software for reasons no one could understand. In the recorded conversations, Hatz apparently called Muller to find out how VW planned to treat him.

Volkswagen Golf Wagon caught completely uncovered

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Without a lot of information to go with them, our camera-toting spies have captured some new images of a Volkswagen Golf wagon variant that is almost completely undisguised. In fact, the one piece of camouflage on the tidy wagon would probably have gone unnoticed to most casual viewers. Look closely at the rear three-quarter view of the car and you'll notice that the apparent taillight clusters are actually fakes - the outline of the real units is faintly visible behind the blue bodywork and the sticker-like fake taillights.
It's a good guess then, that this Golf wagon (called a Golf Kombi by our spy photographer) is a prototype that's pretty far along in the development cycle for Volkswagen. We can't be sure what impact this will have on the company's small wagon offering here in the US, but we'd be pretty surprised if something very like this didn't end up as the next Jetta SportWagen. We might well have more information on that front, after we visit Geneva next week.
