Here is an Original 1962 VW Bug, owned by the same family since 1962. The original owner purchased the bug in West Germany brand new, he drove it to Italy where it was shipped to New York his place of residence at the time. In the late 1960's the bug was moved from New York to Santa Barbara,Ca, where she lived until now. The bug is mostly all original, one respray in the original color on the rear of the car. I guess when she was being moved from New York to Santa Barbara a lamp fell on the engine lid, it was repaired and repainted at the time. I have been polishing out the paint for the last week and it is shinning almost as new! She has some nicks and a couple of minor dents, but that's what gives her character for a 51 year old vw. The original 1200cc engine was rebuilt, converted to a 12 volt and bored out to a 1600cc using the original block, about 13 years ago according to the previous owner. She runs great and has a lot more pep then a 1200cc engine. The bug has never been in an accident, and you can tell by the front apron. The undercarriage looks great, just the usual rust in the battery tray. The interior is all original including the headliner which still looks great. The original blaupunkt radio is also there. All the electrical works, lights, turn signals, horn and etc..
She is an original bug that can be driven with her character or restore to be a show winner!!
Happy Bidding!!

Even 'basic' girls are tired of their cheating VW Jettas
Sat, Sep 26 2015Well, this didn't take long. Former Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn's office probably hasn't even been packed yet, and the jokes about his scandal-ridden former employer have already begun to fly. Today, we'll be featuring the team from Funny Or Die, which has opted to not only skewer Volkswagen for its TDIsaster, but one of the victims of the company's catastrophe – the 'basic' girl. For those not in the know, "basic," according to Urban Dictionary is an adjective reserved for someone "devoid of defining characteristics that might make a person interesting, extraordinary, or just simply worth devoting time or attention to," and that they are "lacking intelligence and unable to socialize on even an elementary level." And when it comes to basic girls, the Volkswagen Jetta is as ubiquitous as a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. But with the VW controversy, basic girls are finding their Jettas aren't so good for their green credentials. So check out Funny Or Die's take on these scorned drivers, in the video above. And fair warning, there's a bit of foul language.
VW considering single, cheaper li-ion cell for all plug-in vehicle batteries
Wed, Apr 22 2015Volkswagen is finding rapid success in the battery electric vehicle market; especially in Europe where the e-Golf is already the segment sales leader. Recent concepts like the C Coupe GTE, Sport Coupe GTE and Cross Coupe GTE suggest more plug-in hybrids from the company are on the way, too. To make future models more economical, the German automotive giant is considering switching to a standard design for its lithium-ion battery cells. Using standardized parts is a long-accepted principle in production because it leads to economies of scale, and a company can pass on the savings to buyers or pocket the money to boost profits. VW is aiming for a massive 66-percent drop in costs by switching to a unified design, according to Heinz-Jakob Neusser, the board member in charge of development, to Automotive News. While the cells would be uniform, they could be crafted into different modules to fit each specific model. VW currently buys cells from Panasonic and Samsung for various models, but under the new plan all of the automaker's brands would switch to a single one. "We have a clear understanding in the group of a common cell," Neusser said, according to Automotive News, without suggesting when a change might happen. VW also has a few months decide on a different future for its EVs. The automaker is reportedly considering whether to use sold-state lithium-ion batteries from a US-based supplier for upcoming models. The next-gen tech could potentially give a massive boost in range while also being fireproof.
If VW defaults on loans it may sell Bentley or Lamborghini
Mon, Dec 7 2015If something goes catastrophically wrong with Volkswagen Group's recent $21 billion loan, brands like Bentley or Lamborghini could hit the auction block. According to two insiders to Reuters, the beleaguered German automaker agrees with its creditors to sell assets if the company somehow can't pay back the debt in a year. One of these anonymous people claimed the company hasn't yet deliberated over what to sell. However, the sources were willing to speculate that the power engineering portion of Man could be among the first to go. "Volkswagen may also consider divesting luxury car brands Bentley and Lamborghini or motor bike brand Ducati, although these units don't really move the needle," an insider said to Reuters. VW Group negotiated with the banks earlier this week to get the massive loan. The cash is necessary as a buffer in case the automaker doesn't have enough money on hand to repair vehicles or settle upcoming fines. VW would reportedly issue bonds in the spring to begin paying the debt. The company's bills will start racking up quickly in the new year. German authorities mandate a recall there in early 2016, and repair campaigns in the US for the 2.0- and 3.0-liter diesel engines are inevitable. There are also hundreds of class-action lawsuits to settle. The company needs to resolve its CO2 emissions scandal in Europe, too. In response to these financial threats, VW management created a cost-cutting plan to slash the research and development budget by $1.1 billion next year.
