First time offered in 20 years!!! At Speed Motors focuses upon investment-level Porsches...and in this case sometimes, VW's!!! I have owned, raced, serviced, and collected Porsches and VWs for years and come across wonderful examples for your consideration.
This is a wonderfully original, 1959 Type I Bug. I have owned this car for nearly 20 years and it has never given me a minute of trouble. It is wonderfully original including much of the ORIGINAL PAINT!!! The engine is absolutely original to the car as is the transmission (Please note engine number picture). The interior was originally red with the correct horsehair (I kept all of the original seat covers with the original horsehair intact), but was changed to white before I purchased the car. It still retains its correct 6V system, has a very rare dealer-installed three gauge cluster (fuel, amps, and oil temp), has the correct rims with full spare and the original jack. I have the correct owner's manual and many, many records/pictures, several trophies from VW shows, as well as a trophy winner as an original car. Car comes without the original luggage rack or with it (+$900). This is an excellent car in a wonderful period color combination that will be a joy for years to come for the next owner. Given my focus upon Porsches, I really don't use either or my Bugs (see my 1954 Bug for sale eBay #291054962475) so I've decided to make some garage room. There is no good reason other than that to sell either of them... They need nothing at all. Please contact me with any questions at 703-627-9991. Take a look at my 100% rating and bid with full confidence. I stand behind absolutely everything I sell. My thanks, Bob.

European jury picks finalists for 2015 Car of the Year
Tue, Dec 16 2014There are countless Car of the Year awards handed out each year, and naturally, Europe has its own way of doing things. Every year, a panel of jurists representing seven publications in seven different languages and seven different countries get together to name their joint Car of the Year. The panel released a list of 32 candidates back in July, and it has now whittled that list down to seven nominees. The list consists of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, the Citroen C4 Cactus (shown), the Ford Mondeo, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Nissan Qashqai, the Renault Twingo and the Volkswagen Passat. Of those seven, only two are available in the US – those being the Mondeo (sold Stateside as the Fusion) and the C-Class. The Passat is an entirely different model in North America, the Qashqai isn't offered here, Citroen and Renault don't even participate in our market and the BMW 2 Series is represented here only by the completely different coupe and convertible. Expect the one and only recipient of the 2015 Car of the Year award to be announced at the Geneva Motor Show this coming March, and while you're waiting, you can place your guesses for the eventual winner in Comments. Volkswagen taps Porsche chief for board
Mon, Feb 23 2015Matthias Mueller was promoted to the top position at Porsche in 2010 after a successful stint of developing model lines during his 36 years with the company, mainly at Audi. Having shown the same prowess while overseeing Porsche for the past five years, German outlet Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports that Mueller will be promoted to the management board of the Volkswagen Group, according to a leaked copy of an agenda for the meeting. It's said that a new spot is being created for him, one that will put him in charge of "overseeing cooperation" among Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, and Porsche. While other group executives are known to hold positions on the board and with brands, or across brands, it isn't clear yet whether Mueller will keep his spot at the CEO of Porsche after the promotion. One thing that is certain is the 61-year-old Mueller doesn't see himself in line for Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn's job in 2016, having told FAZ this month, "It's no solution to put a 63-year-old at the head of Volkswagen." Piech and Winterkorn still at odds about VW leadership plan
Wed, Apr 15 2015Volkswagen Group Chairman Ferdinand Piech (above, right) and CEO Martin Winterkorn (above, left) will be meeting in the coming days to discuss who the next leader of the Volkswagen Group will be. This, of course, comes after a report last Friday in Der Spiegel where Piech said he didn't want Winterkorn to be the automaker's next chairman. Oh, to be a fly on the wall of that conference room. As Automotive News reports, Winterkorn had been widely viewed as the probable replacement for the 77-year-old Piech, until last week, when the current chairman said he was keeping the CEO "at a distance," in the German paper. While Winterkorn confirmed to German media on Monday that he still had a job, analysts aren't sure what Piech's comments will mean for the 67-year-old CEO's future, with some indicating he may end up being a "lame duck" leader. According to AN, Piech doesn't think that Winterkorn has the vision to lead the sprawling Volkswagen Group empire, even though the current CEO has the support of a number of other VAG stakeholders. "Piech knows what he is doing and will assume that he can get the supervisory board to implement his decisions," former BMW executive turned analyst Helmut Becker told German media, AN reports. Winterkorn has just over 18 months left on his contract, while Piech's term has another two years left on it, meaning it will still be some time before we find out how the Volkswagen Group's leadership issues play out.
