1979 Triumph Spitfire on 2040-cars
Iowa Park, Texas, United States
1979 Triumph Spitfire. Very sound car, new convertible top, gas tank, fuel lines, suspension. Installed shorter springs to lower the front end, which is meaningful to people that know Triumphs. Stromberg carb has been rebuilt, and this car starts, runs, drives and handles the way a Spitfire should. Although they probably work, some of the emissions bits have been bypassed. It's a great car, but it we're getting ready to move, and it can't come with us. Body & frame are very solid, surface rust only (very little). Some dings and small dents, and a large dent w/missing paint on the hood. The interior carpet is in great shape, although the seats have seat need some attention. All instrumentation, lighting, etc. work, and the car will pass most state inspections. Car comes with original purchase paperwork, repair bills, tonneau cover, spare tire (which is flat - sorry). This car is being re-listed - it was originally listed in the wrong category. Thanks to the bidder that pointed this out. This is a good car that runs great, but needs some attention to details. It is not a $1500 klunker, like so many others I've seen on e-bay and traveled to check out over the years. Ask all the questions about the car that you want. The reserve is set at a very fair price. Thanks! No trades, barters, swaps or payment plans. Bank note or cash, please. Auction will end early in the event of local sale. Winning bidder has 24 hours to contact & make payment/delivery arrangements. Mileage, Engine# & Body # - see pics. |

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
