This is a 1978 Triumph Spitfire. I got it in a package deal last week up in Colorado. The seller said he was driving it until recently Though the Colorado inspection sticker on the windshield says 1999. Whether that is his idea of recently or that isjust an old sticker, I do not know..   I got it back here, checked the fluids, the gas was not old and stinky, jumped the battery and it took right off. Started right up, idled nicely. I put it in gear and drove it forward in my yard. No issues. Put it in reverse to back up. Issue. Seems the reverse idler gear is bad as it pops in and out of gear in reverse. So that needs attention. I would want to have that checked out before driving any long distance at all  Also change the fluids, belts and filters.. I will either include a hew British Leyland reverse idler gear or another tranny you could install. Other than that, I found no other serious problems. The car is as rustfree, clean and dead straight as you probably can find. There is no rust. The floors are great. The metal is great. Looks like it was painted black over the factory original blue. Not the best job in the world, but OK for a 2 grand Spitfire. The dash is in nice shape. Seats have covers over them but probably are split underneath. The top is in great shape with a very nice clear back window. The car looks to of been pretty well maintained and not messed with thru the years. The factory air pump is there .So you should be set for emissions.. The car was bought new in Phoenix Arizona then moved to Colorado later. Both clean rustfree car states. With a little tranny work this will make a very nice, very cheap fun little sports car to play around with. Full payment within 7 days of auction end. Pickup here in Prescott is encouraged. Storage till pickup is no problem. And I travel around the country picking up cars here and there with my truck and trailer and may be able to help get it to you or close if you are in no big hurry.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
