I've owned this 1978 Triumph Spitfire for over 20 years, and it's time to let it go. I purchased it in the early 1990's from a used car dealer and drove it home with the intention of restoring it to it's former glory. Needless to say, I didn't get very far with the restoration. It has sat untouched in my garage since around 1995. For the first few months I started the dissassembly process. The next few months I spent buying every kind of new part you could imagine. I remember spending hours looking through the Victoria British catalog. I did spend some time cleaning, sandblasting, painting, and restoring some of the smaller parts I took off the car, like suspension pieces, the wooden dash assembly, etc. I don't have the receipts, but I know I must have spent thousands on new parts. I bought all new poly bushings, transmission tunnel, fuel pump, starter, alternator, belts, hoses, brake parts, a complete new steering rack, rebuilt cylinder head, new leaf spring, Monza exhaust, headers, some interior parts, and much more that I can't remember. There is an extra transmission from a very low mileage Spitfire. I looked at lots of Spitfires before I bought this one. Most that I saw had rusty floorpans. This one has great floors. I spent days underneath this car cleaning it before I completely undercoated it with professional grade stuff, not the stuff in a spray can. I also sealed all the seams inside the car for a quieter ride. There was one very small quarter sized spot on the drivers side rocker that was showing some corrosion, so I cut it out. Otherwise the body is a nice dry Oklahoma car. The body does have some dings and the original paint is showing it's age. The rear end and suspension is out of the car, so you will need a flatbed trailer to load it on, preferably with a winch since it only has front wheels on it now. To my knowledge, most everything is there. I can't think of anything that would be missing. Lot's of original parts in great shape, and also lots of new stuff. Windshield is fine with no cracks. Convertible top frame is there, but no top. Door glass is in good shape. I do have an extra door that is included. Tires are all excellent. The title is clear and in my name. Not many of these cars around anymore. This one would be a nice one to fix up, and parts are readily available. I'm sure the winning bidder will be happy with what he gets. I will be able to help with loading. For this auction I am requiring payment by money order or cash only, sorry NO PAYPAL. I ask that you pick the car up and pay within 10 days. If you need to store the car here a little longer, we can work that out as long as you have paid for the car. At this time I am not willing to part the car out. GOOD LUCK!!

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
