The vehicle for sale is a 1977 Triumph Spitfire 1500 that has undergone a full restoration. The vehicle has no rust -- not even those floor boards. Paint was stripped and the car primed and professionally painted in deep blue. The odometer shows 49,500 miles believed to be accurate. The car has won three trophies including "best in class" at the St. Louis British Car Show.
The vehicle has a period hardtop (we are told it was purchased with the car) that is painted to match the vehicle. This is not the ugly TR one, but a fiberglass top that has a nice headliner. The rear window and rubber seal are new - the company is still in business and parts are easy to get if needed. In fact - all of the rubber seals except for the main windshield seal are new. The vehicle has a soft top frame, but no top. There is no room with the hardtop in place for the soft top and its mounts get in the way. The car has a tonneau cover as well as a boot cover for when the hardtop is removed (one man job). The rims are a period feature and the tires are new.
The interior is entirely renovated with a new walnut dash and a nice period wood steering wheel. All panels and the carpet have been replaced. We replaced that armrest that is often damaged as well. The car has the original tool kit, a new spare tire cover and the original owner's manual as well as a Haynes manual. The radio is upgraded and accepts an IPOD. We have 2 great speakers in the back that sit on the rear shelf with the wires hidden. The speakers can be removed in seconds for car shows but really give good sound when in the car. The original radio is included.
The engine is in excellent condition and starts immediately and runs well. The transmission is a four speed and does not have overdrive. The universal joints on the drive shaft have been replaced as has the water pump. Both the brake and clutch master cylinders as well as the clutch slave cylinder are new and they do not leak. The water temperature-operated choke has been replaced with a manual choke - so it works. The rear spring was replaced just prior to our purchase of the car. The ball joints a tie rod ends up front are also new and the front end is correctly aligned. The car never overheats and we have replaced the old cardboard radiator wind deflectors and engine splash guards with plastic pieces that work and do not fall apart. This is our second spitfire restoration and we learned a lot!
The car has been kept as original as possible. The paint resembles an old BL color - but we went for a far better paint quality so it is not an exact match. The underside of the hood and the trunk lid are painted to match in a duller finish. We have a number of spare parts as well includng an intake manifold and some other small parts and detail pieces.
The title is free and clear of any lein. A wonderful trophy quality car!! Drive it home!!

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack
Sun, 21 Sep 2014Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
