1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500 on 2040-cars

Year:1976 Mileage:63949
Location:

Roanoke, Virginia, United States

Here is a very original 1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500 that we know the entire history.  We sold this car new in 1976 when we were a Triumph Dealer.  We have the original British Leyland "Passport to Service" and registration paperwork for all the owners.  It has had only three owners in its whole life, and we serviced it most of the time.  The last owner put it in dry indoor storage for several years.  We bought the car back, and went through everything to make it a dependable driver.  We installed a Lucas points-type distributor with all new pieces, a new fuel pump, all new radiator and heater hoses, all new brake components--shoes, wheel cylinders, adjusters, front and rear hoses--rebuilt brake master cylinder, new clutch master and slave cylinder, all new filters, new solenoid, new battery, new gas tank sending unit, 4 new Kumho tires, and needless to say, fresh oil and antifreeze.  We put an antenna on it, and the original British Leyland factory AM-FM radio works fine.  Probably more things we forgot to mention.  This car is ready to drive and enjoy.

Now to the body.  The body is solid, no rust, solid floors, ripples in the bodywork on the right rear fender, shown in the photos.  It is the original factory color, Java Green, with the original factory stripe.  The paint is fair, and a professional buffing might help.  Note that the light spots in the photos are just the sun glare, and not thin or missing paint.  The interior is very good--seats, panels, dash--all still look great.  All lights, gauges, electrical etc. work.  Car will have a new Virginia inspection sticker.

Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping.  Car is for sale locally, and auction is subject to end early.

This car represents an excellent opportunity for some lucky bidder.  There is no buy it now price, please bid if you are interested.

Webb Motors has been a British car dealer since the 1950's, still here in the same location.  7106 Williamson Rd., Roanoke, VA 24019.  Phone number 540-362-3923 Mon-Fri 9 to 5.

We forgot to mention, the convertible top is in great shape with clear windows.  Car also comes with a boot cover.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
