Toyota Tacoma Sr5 V6 Xtra Cab Trd 4wd Lifted Bfg 1 Orig Owner Near Mint Clean on 2040-cars
Frederick, Maryland, United States
Let me start off by saying this is a sad event for me. I have to say that this has been the best truck one could ever own, at least as far as reliability. This is the only brand new vehicle I have ever owned and I have had many. I bought the truck brand new in march of 99. I purchased it locally here in MD. It has been flat out reliable with all maintenance meticulously up to date. My friend is a Toyota tech at the dealer and has been for over 18 years. He has a lift at his house in which he works on this truck. I am not sure if anyone else has ever worked on the truck, if it was it was for something very minor. He has been my priority tech for this truck as he uses dealer parts and is SAE Toyota certified. With that said someone is going to get a GREAT truck that needs nothing! Being an almost 15 year old truck you would think that its beat down and dented/scratched up. That is not the case with this truck at all. It is nearly mint in my opinion especially if you are looking for tacomas. Usually they are beat down on and keep running forever. Well this one will run forever but looks new. It is green metallic over tan interior. Imperial Jade mica is the paint name. Only available on 99-2000 Tacoma. Its been flat out the best vehicle around for many years for me. I am in construction management and being on the job for so many years you can tell how much I have babied it in this area of use. There have been a few fender benders over the years however. Early on in its life an elderly woman made a right turn from the left lane and I was kinda in her way. This was just superficial dents scratches etc. I drove it home. It was in two rear end collisions, both minor. The first was just rear bumper and small dent behind it. The second, a person hit me then I hit the person in front of me. Low speed and still very minor as the truck is lifted and sits higher than most cars. No structural damage what so ever. I have only taken it to one reputable body shop here in Frederick. They warrant the work for the life of the truck, that's how good. No issues what so ever with paint match. You would have to be a pretty good inspector to ever tell it had been painted ever. This isn't to slight the fact of how I have pampered this truck over the years. It hasn't been in the body shop in years and is still near mint. There are no dents or major scratches on this truck.
It has a brand new Toyota clutch that is only 2 weeks old. The original lasted this long!! This should tell you how well I treated/drove this 5sp truck. Over the past year or so it has been slipping out of first gear on take off. I just held it in and drove it like this for a long time. Well with the orig clutch starting to show its age, I had my Toyota tech friend look at it while he was installing the clutch. He saw that the synchronizers for first were bad. So I put a new rebuilt factory trans in anyway just to be sure it lasted forever. You don't want to know the cost of this clutch and trans replacement, and that is with my friend working on it on the side. With that said you can feel comfort that this truck is forever. It shifts and drives like a brand new 99 Tacoma. It has the tried and true 3.4 V6 that leaks or burns nothing! The valve cover gaskets started to seep last year so they got replaced immediately. The a/c condenser started to seep, losing Freon, so it got replaced with the clutch and trans 2 weeks ago. Cold a/c, hot heat. Defrost is perfect. All fluids replaced on the regular. Shifter bushings new as well. New ball joints all in front. New catalytic converter last year. I could go on and on about this truck but it probably won't fit here! Please ask any questions there is nothing to hide with this truck at all, if you can't tell by my explanation.

gas gauge isn't always accurate, has done this since early on, always registers lower, never higher than what it actually has, low fuel light still works and I know how far it can go on gas. Gets 18-20 mpg depending on how you treat the throttle and highway or city. I never replaced the sending unit because it was like $250 and it didn't bother me. Its usually accurate, but telling everything here.--
That's it!!!! Wow for a 15 year old truck, 2 minor flaws!
I can't say it enough, this sucks, this truck needs nothing. It has been inspected every year for the frame rust issues of these year trucks, it has passed with no issues every time.
I am only attaching a few pics of the truck now, due to the weather. Its getting a full professional detail Thursday 12/19, I will add pics after full detail and you will see how mint it is. Goodluck, as someone will get a great truck no doubt. It will have a reserve obviously as I will not give this truck away. I need no reason more to just keep it and run the wheels off of it. This is what I thought I was going to do. Pics will be added thurs night. Thanks!
I added a KBB print out of the truck as it sits now. The only problem is you can't tell it about the lift, accessories etc. Plus the condition will be well above others on the market. That's if you find them for sale. Post full detail pics thurs night. Thanks

Next-gen Toyota Tacoma mule caught towing in the desert
Wed, 13 Aug 2014With the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon set to arrive in dealers in the near future, it's high time Toyota got to work on a replacement for the Tacoma, a vehicle whose present generation debuted in the middle of the Bush Administration. Now, we have images of that new pickup undergoing testing.
Our spy photographers picked up this heavily modified mule undergoing tow tests in the desert. It rides on a modified version of the current Taco's frame, as evidenced by shots of its undercarriage, although our spies cite the lack of riveted sections as indications that the current truck's footprint should remain unchanged.
Aside from underbody changes, this particular Tacoma featured a six-speed manual transmission, which we're expecting to be joined by a six-speed automatic. The current four- and five-speed autos found on the current truck will almost certainly be killed off. Marching to the grave with those slushboxes will be the two-door Regular Cab body style. Our spies are expecting Toyota to focus its efforts on the larger, more accessible Double Cab.
TMG's super Lexus LS Sports 650 gets track tested
Thu, 05 Sep 2013The people at Toyota Motorsport GmbH have been responsible for the Japanese automaker's motorsports efforts since the 1970s, but since Toyota pulled out of Formula One after the 2009 season, the tuning shop has been developing a super sedan based on the Lexus LS called the Sports 650. Details on TMG's first road car have been scarce, but XCAR was recently invited to drive the 641-horsepower Lexus on track.
Here's what we know: the Sports 650 has enough power to sprint to 60 miles per hour in under four seconds, tops out at 199 mph, weighs over two tons and utilizes LFA brakes. Oh, and its twin-turbo V8 bellows like an AMG V8. That last part isn't surprising when considering TMG could become Toyota's in-house tuning arm - like AMG is to Mercedes-Benz. As for the bespoke body kit, fender flares and stacked exhaust pipes? They fit the car well and even remind us a bit of Lexus' other high-performance sedan, the IS F. Currently there are no plans for the Sports 650 to be made into a production car, but we doubt TMG is devoting this much effort developing the LS into a road-rocket for nothing.
Check out XCAR's video below to see the AMG-fighter wrung out on track, and then ponder what could be if TMG were let loose to fiddle with other cars in Lexus' lineup. Now that's something we could get used to!
Autotrader picks best cars for 2015's college grads
Sun, May 31 2015Summer is here and the school season is winding to a close. That means millions of students will be graduating college and (hopefully) entering the workforce. For many, that will mean buying a new car suited to the new stage in life into which they will now be embarking. That can be a bewildering choice, especially for someone who's never bought a car before. Fortunately, Autotrader has come up with a short list of recommended cars – new and used – which it recommends to the graduating class of 2015. Among the site's top choices are some compelling crossovers and hatchbacks, including the Buick Encore, Chevy Trax, and Jeep Renegade, as well as the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa Note, Mazda3 and Fiat 500. Can't stretch to buying new, or don't see the point? Autotrader has also identified the Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion and even the Lexus IS as smart buys in the certified pre-owned category. "Any time someone goes through a major life change, such as graduating college, they need to determine if their current ride makes sense for their lifestyle, from both a financial and functional perspective," says Autotrader editor Brian Moody. "For example, while that hand-me-down SUV from your parents was nice when you turned 16, you may want to opt for a safer, more fuel-efficient car as you transition into the working world." Autotrader Names 10 Best Cars for Recent College Graduates ATLANTA, May 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- For many, graduating college is a milestone like no other – it represents a new chapter, a proud accomplishment and, fortunately or unfortunately, financial independence. Luckily for graduates who are in the market for a new car to suit their post-college lifestyle, Autotrader's expert editors say now is a great time to make a purchase, as dealerships are flush with affordable models that are fun, fuel-efficient and thoughtfully designed. Autotrader Logo "Any time someone goes through a major life change, such as graduating college, they need to determine if their current ride makes sense for their lifestyle, from both a financial and functional perspective," said Brian Moody, site editor for Autotrader.
