Truck has a brand new set of Michelin Raised White Letter Tires that I put on the truck @ 105,555 miles. These are the Michelin LTX Mud and Snow Tires in size P265/70 Tires. I bought these tires on 08/28/2012 (have sales receipt and will give to buyer). I have ALL the SERVICE RECORDS for this truck stores on Toyota's MY TOYOTA Website; it keeps record of every service your Toyota has had done at a Toyota dealership. This truck has never had ANY maintenance work done on it by anyone but a Toyota dealer. The tires I mentioned did come from a independent tire store but all scheduled maintenance and even the front disc brakes were replaced by an authorized Toyota dealer. The truck has 114,489 miles on it. The new Michelin Tires were installed at 105,555 in August of 2012. I have put only 9,000 miles on this vehicle over the past 20 months. It stays washed and waxed in the garage. Also, I have pulled a small U-Haul Trailer with it only once to take my daughter to college. This is a Toyota Tacoma that runs great and is clean as a whistle, the engine compartment looks brand new (see pictures). Again, ALL MAINTENANCE RECORDS are available and I will print them all off and provide to the buyer. I am selling this truck because I am buying a new 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser (4WD). I was and am the only owner of this truck. I used to work for Toyota as a factory rep and this Tacoma was my company car back in 2009 and I drove it for 9,000 miles and then I bought it because I'd never owned a truck before and this thing is great! I am selling it for a discounted price because it got caught out in a Texas hail storm last year and got about $4,000 worth of hail damage. I did not get around to getting it fixed, paint less dent repair can fix all of it. It has a crack on the hood scoop (it's fiberglass) so the hood has to be replaced. Like I said, I am buying a new 2104 FJ Cruiser and that is why I am selling my beloved "Taco." I will answer all questions and provide all the records to satisfy any questions. Mazda ad showing Facebook updates while driving criticized by Senate committee [w/video]
Sat, 08 Feb 2014Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller, D-WV, held an all-day summit on Thursday to discuss the dangers of using modern technology while driving, during which an ad that Mazda aired during the Super Bowl was used as an example of the worrisome future towards which we're headed. While seemingly innocuous at first glance, the ad, which can be seen below, shows a brief glimpse of a driver using the Mazda Connect infotainment system in a Mazda3 to check/update his Facebook page while driving down the road.
Officials from major communications companies like Samsung, Google and Apple attended the summit, as well as representatives from automakers including General Motors and Toyota. A representative from Mazda was not present despite the company's own currently available technology being used as the poster child for the issues being discussed.
According to Automotive News, Senator Rockefeller warned the automaker and communication execs on hand that he will propose legislation to regulate the use of technology while driving if they don't work together to implement their own standards more quickly. Michael Robinson, GM's vice president of sustainability and global regulatory affairs, argued that his company has had distracted driving guidelines in place for 15 years since the advent of its OnStar system, noting that the technology in question has also helped the automaker save lives through automatic crash detection and calls to 911.

Sat, Nov 22 2014"I said our cars are built to be winners." – Jim Hall Racing legend Jim Hall never thought he'd be a video game consultant, but when Chevrolet asked for his advice to create a futuristic Chaparral for the Vision Gran Turismo series, he was eager to help. He reviewed early sketches and suggested some changes that made it onto the concept, including the addition of a camera that's mounted onto a mast over the cabin to aid the driver. The Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept was revealed this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show and will be part of a downloadable update for PlayStation 3's Gran Turismo 6 in December. Theoretically, at least, it uses a laser-beam propulsion system and an air-powered generator to produce 900 horsepower in the video game. It's capable of sprinting to 60 miles per hour in 1.5 seconds en route to a top speed of 240 mph. Those gaudy performance specs – even in the virtual world – came at Hall's urging. "I said our cars are built to be winners," Hall told Autoblog on the floor of the Los Angeles show. The 79-year-old drove Lotus racecars in Formula One before launching the successful Chaparral Cars in the 1960s. Like his innovative Can-Am racers, the Vision Gran Turismo project has an eye toward the future. It also introduces the iconic Chaparral name to a new generation of fans, and hopefully, Hall says, gets them excited about engineering and design. "It emulates what we did in the '60s," he said. And what they did back then still resonates. Chaparral Racing and Chevy partnered more than 45 years ago for development work on the composite monocoque chassis, lightweight alloy powertrains, automatic gearboxes and active aerodynamics. "He [Hall] walked right back into this and was able to apply thinkings and learnings," said Clay Dean, General Motors executive director of advanced design. The Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept was created at GM's North Hollywood advanced design studio, and it will be on display at the show through November. Vettel has been F1's most successful driver since Michael Schumacher, though he's struggled to match his previous accomplishments in 2014.
Import pickup truck-killing Chicken Tax to be repealed?
Tue, Jun 30 2015After over 50 years, the so-called Chicken Tax may finally be going the way of the dodo. Two pending trade deals with countries in the Pacific Rim and Europe potentially could open the US auto market up to imported trucks, if the measures pass. Although, it still might be a while before you can own that Volkswagen Amarok or Toyota Hilux, if ever. The 25-percent import tariff that the Chicken Tax imposes on foreign trucks essentially makes the things all but impossible to sell one profitably in the US, which lends a distinct advantage to domestic pickups. Both the Trans-Pacific Partnership with 12 counties and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership with the European Union would finally end the charge. According to Automotive News though, don't expect new pickups to flood the market, at least not immediately. These deals might roll back the tariff gradually over time, and in the case of Japan, it could be as long as 25 years before fully free trade. Furthermore, Thailand, a major truck builder in Asia, isn't currently part of the deal, and any new models here would still need to meet safety and emissions rules, as well. Automotive News gauged the very early intentions of several automakers with foreign-built trucks, and they weren't necessarily champing at the bit to start imports. Toyota thinks the Hilux sits between the Tundra and Tacoma, and Mazda doesn't think the BT-50 fits its image here. Also, VW doesn't necessarily want to bring the Amarok over from Hannover. There is previous precedent for companies at least considering bringing in pickup trucks after the Chicken Tax's demise, though. The Pacific free trade deal could be done as soon as this fall, while the EU one is likely further out, according to Automotive News. Given enough time, the more accessible ports could allow some new trucks to enter the market.
