NO RESERVE! 87 Toyota Pickup 2WD Southern Car Great Condition! NO RESERVE!

NO RESERVE AUCTION!!  BID TO BUY!!

‘87 Toyota Pick-up

2 Wheel Drive

Regular cab

22R engine  (4 cylinder)  (known to be EXTREMELY Durable & Long-Lasting!)

Automatic transmission

Approx 246K miles

Brand New carburetor installed in late 2013

New exhaust (from Catalytic-converter back)

Runs great!!

I drove it from NE Tennessee (via Chattanooga, and Atlanta) to SE Georgia with no problems.

Got 25 MPG!! (doing 70mph).

Transmission has a “stuck” shift solenoid (I hear that this is common item), but it shifts fine by simply letting off the accelerator pedal slightly to initiate the shift.  Prior owner drove it like this for several years.

Probably could use a new set of tires.  (Still plenty of tread, but they are old & rubber seems to be a little hard.  Slight vibration felt at 50mph.  Vibration goes away at speeds either above or below 50mph.  Guessing that this would be solved by a set of new tires.)

Tires are P205/70R14

Goodyear VIVA 2

1306 date stamp on passenger’s front & driver’s rear  (manufactured 13th week of 2006)

0506 on passenger’s rear  (manufactured 5th week of 2006)

3705 on driver’s front  (manufactured 37th week of 2005)

Factory Rims:  T14x5.5-JJ

Paint looks pretty good.

Looks like it was repainted at one point in time but it was a very good repaint.

No sign of any accidents.

Some peeling of the clearcoat on the hood.

A few small dings on the hood and the roof (might be from hail?).

& a few scratches & small dings here and there.

Bed is solid.

Has a few small rust spots along the bed-to-skirt seam (very common for this year).

Also has a couple of “rust bubbles on the tailgate. (please see pictures)

Bed has the factory double wall sides & prior owner has applied a spray-on or roll-on bed lining material (lining is peeling in a few spots).

Truck cab, doors, front fenders, & hood all have ZERO rust!

All of the glass is Toyota original & in great shape!

One rear tail light is cracked, but it is all there & works fine.

Chrome has some minor pitting.

Nice interior!  Bucket seats are in great shape!  Carpets could use cleaning (a few spills).  Dash has a few cracks on the top (these could be hidden with a dash pad or “topper”).

Gas gauge seems to work, but it tends to be inaccurate when the gas tank level gets below 1/4-1/2 tank.  Tank holds approx 12.5 gallons of gas.

Interior light works intermittently.  Guessing that it either needs a new bulb or might be a loose connection.

A/C is all there.  Prior owner told me that it works, but that it needs to be recharged.

Great truck.  Has been very well maintained.  Very solid & reliable.

Vehicle History Report is CLEAN!!

Kayaba, Sumitomo to pay millions for price-fixing in US

Sat, Sep 19 2015

Kayaba Industry Co, which does business in the US as suspension parts maker KYB, and Sumitomo Electric Industries are facing payments in the millions to settle price-fixing cases about the components that they make. As part of the Department of Justice's ongoing crackdown of price fixing in the auto industry, KYB agreed to pay $62 million and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to set the cost of shock absorbers from the mid '90s through 2012. The company allegedly worked with co-conspirators to keep the cost of the parts high, and those components then made it into vehicles from Honda, Kawasaki, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki, and Toyota. "Any collusive agreement among competitors to restrict price competition undercuts our free enterprise system and violates the law," said Carter M. Stewart, US Attorney of the Southern District of Ohio, in the DoJ's announcement. Over the past few years, the DoJ has brought cases against 37 parts suppliers and 55 executives, leading to over $2.6 billion in fines. The investigations haven't always been so successful – some of the Japanese execs fled from the US to avoid prosecution. Critics allege that price fixing is simply how business is done. According to Automotive News, Sumitomo Electric Industries is also facing a $50 million settlement in a civil lawsuit that's related to price fixing of parts like wiring harnesses and heater control panels. The plaintiffs include owners and dealers that purchased vehicles with these parts. The company asserts that the violations are from before 2010, and it now has different process in place to avoid further violations. KYB Agrees to Plead Guilty and Pay $62 Million Criminal Fine for Fixing Price of Shock Absorbers Kayaba Industry Co. Ltd., dba KYB Corporation (KYB) has agreed to plead guilty and to pay a $62 million criminal fine for its role in a conspiracy to fix the price of shock absorbers installed in cars and motorcycles sold to U.S. consumers. According to charges filed today, KYB conspired from the mid-1990s until 2012 to fix the prices of shock absorbers sold to Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (manufacturer of Subaru vehicles), Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd., Nissan Motor Company Ltd., Suzuki Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Company, including their subsidiaries in the United States.

Here's what you had to say about the Tokyo Motor Show

Fri, Oct 27 2017

We obsessively covered the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. You, our readers, provided the color commentary. Read on and, of course, leave your comments below. Subaru Viziv Performance Concept: Remember the WRX concept they showed in 2013, and what the production version looked like in 2015? Pepperidge Farm remembers. wooootles 2 foot high wing on the trunk or gtfo :) sc0rch3d Mazda Kai Concept : Dear Honda, this is how you dynamically style a hatchback. Thank you. Dfelix70 Kudos to KODO design. There are so many things I love about this "Kai" car: the awesome split panoramic sunroof, the Jaguar-esque tails (sporting an "eyebrow up"... ala The Rock), a sleek family resemblance to the already beautiful CX-5 and CX-9. Seems suspiciously close to being a production ready Mazda3 — save for a few fanciful bits (door handles, mirrors etc). If it doesn't get too watered down by the time it hits the streets ... take my money! Randy Ross Mitsubishi e-Evolution Concept: As an 06 IX and 12 X owner, this is so upsetting. I will never buy this or care to give it another look. Hope you are glad you killed my favorite track-ready car to produce this electric junk. AcidTonic Picture the GT-R going away for a few years and coming back as an SUV. This is ridiculous. Surely someone in marketing could've came up with another cool name. Evo The Evo sedan is dead, whether this exists or not. I don't mind. Lada1200 Honda Sports EV Concept : I sure would like to see this "less is more" design aesthetic spread to their gas-powered production line. RustyShackleford Love it. I see glimpses of late 1970 Scirocco with Honda flair. Gintonics I just want ONE question answered in the affirmative, and that is... "RWD?" Henadenk AND A FEW FROM FACEBOOK: Toyota's press conference: Wake me up when they talk about the Supra. David Levinson Yamaha Cross Hub Concept: All I can think is modern day Brat, which has its own kind of charm. I'm assuming that it's a unibody design, but it seems happy to be its own thing rather than that crossover pretending to be a pickup called the Ridgeline. Would definitely take the Yamaha over the Honda, although I doubt it'll come to the states. Cole Henry Mazda Vision Coupe Concept: Face: KIA K7, Tail: Aston martin. Harold Shin A bit British, no? Cheap, honest transportation | 2017 Toyota Yaris iA

Fri, Mar 24 2017

In The Love Bug, the main character (aside from Herbie) is a down-on-his-luck racing driver named Jim Douglas. Early on, he steps into an exotic car show room, and when the dealer asks him kind of car he's looking for, Douglas replies, "What do you have in the way of cheap, honest transportation?" The dealer quickly snatches his fancy liquor back from Douglas and soon after Herbie shows up from the back of the showroom. But if this happened today, you could easily replace the classic Beetle with a 2017 Toyota Yaris iA. The poor thing isn't nearly as endearing to look at as a classic Bug, as a result of the rather unattractive nose, and it's now using a second pseudonym (first Scion iA, then Toyota Yaris iA) to hide its Mazda heritage. However, everything else about it nails the description of cheap, honest transportation. And for that reason, it's a lovely little car. Let's start with honesty, and it begins from the minute you start equipping the car – the iA is a "what you see is what you get" proposition. You see, the iA moniker isn't the only holdover from the Scion era. The Toyota Yaris iA retains its "monospec" configuration, which means it comes with only one option: the transmission. Customers can choose from either a 6-speed manual like our test car, or a 6-speed automatic which costs $1,100. Everything else is standard, and "everything" includes some choice features. You get alloy wheels, air conditioning, cruise control, USB and Bluetooth integration, a rear-view camera, tilt and telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, and keyless entry with push-button start. Technically there are a number of dealer-installed accessories too, including your typical fare of mudguards, rear spoiler, cargo organizers, and such. However, none of them are really necessary, with one exception. For some odd reason, the Yaris iA does not come with a center armrest. It's a $195 accessory, and frankly it should be a standard feature because it's so useful. If you hadn't guessed, ours wasn't equipped with it. Everywhere else the iA is a thoroughly pleasant car, if not as sporty as the old Mazda2. The little 1.5-liter four-cylinder under the hood isn't particularly potent with 106 horsepower and 103 lb-ft of torque. But with a Miata-like 2,385-pound curb weight and our car's manual transmission, it manages to feel fairly sprightly, and never has any trouble dicing it up with traffic. That transmission is pretty decent, too.
