Hello, Your bidding on a very nice 1998 Toyota Tacoma SR5 extra cab 2WD One Owner Low Mileage pickup truck. The vehicle was a trade in at Gatorland Acura here in Florida. The truck runs and drives excellent  and everything is working as it should. The paint shines brilliantly with only minor touch up here and there. The Interior is in excellent shape and extra clean with no stains or odors being a non smokers vehicle. This Tacoma has a Clean Auto Check History Report with no Issues or accidents. The bedliner inside  has some white paint stains on it.(see Pic's)  The chrome is perfect and the tires are recent.  The mileage is certified at 59,325 but in Florida 10 year old vehicles are sold with mileage exempt so the paperwork will read 59,325 actual miles - exempt. Buying a Toyota Tacoma is an investment they last forever with very little maintainance and they hold there value as you can see. Look up KBB on this truck I was shocked at the price myself. Please keep in mind this is a Rust Free Florida Vehicle (there is a difference)  Bid with confidence I'm a licensed and bonded dealer here in South Florida. My goal is to keep my feedback at 100% possitive and to make this a pleasureable buying experience. If your flying in and driving home I can pick you up at the airport either SRQ in Sarasota or RSW in Fort Myers. Also I can issue you a 30 day temp tag at no cost to you .Even though this vehicle is in above average condition it is still 15 years old so minor imperfections should be expected but may or may not be present.  Please call me direct at 508 735-5071 if you have any questions or concerns. Thank-you in advance!

West Coast labor dispute hampers Japanese automakers' US plants

Wed, Feb 18 2015

The ongoing labor dispute between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and port owners along the West Coast is starting to affect more Japanese automakers building vehicles in the US. The issue already forced Honda and Subaru to take the expensive option of airlifting some parts into the US weeks ago, and according to USA Today, Toyota and Nissan have begun doing so, as well. The choice hasn't been cheap, though, and Subaru's chief financial officer estimated that the decision cost around $60 million more per month than sending components by cargo ship. The effects continue to radiate, according to USA Today, and shortages of some models are possible. Honda is slowing production at its factories in Ohio, Indiana and Canada because the automaker doesn't have enough transmissions and electronics for some vehicles. Toyota already cut back on overtime at some factories. Nissan has only seen a small effect from the issue, though, because of its local suppliers. Dock workers and port owners have been negotiating on a new contract since last year, and the union has organized work slowdowns in response. According to USA Today, the automakers could move shipments to Canada or Mexico, but it would take longer for parts to arrive. Dutch Toyota dealer has plans for old Prius batteries as solar backup

Thu, May 1 2014

A Toyota dealer in the Netherlands is looking to the sky for power. The Louwman Hague Toyota dealership has put almost 1,000 solar panels on the roof, and there might be some Prius hybrid batteries involved. Our Dutch isn't as good as it could be and our questions to Toyota in the US haven't turned up any definitive answers, but there is some mention that these solar panels are will someday be feeding power into a bank of Toyota hybrid batteries. The 1,000 panels make up 1,600 square meters, about the size of 4.5 IMAX movie screens, and is the largest in the area. They generate around a quarter of a megawatt of energy [as our readers point out, this is what the translation says, but it doesn't make sense, so we think it might mean a quarter MW of power a day], which is enough to power 80 homes. The excess electricity will go into the battery packs that have (possibly) already been used in a Prius or another of the company's hybrid. There are many examples of automotive batteries being tested as stationary back-up power sources, and maybe this Dutch solution can be used as a guide when Toyota sets up its new US headquarters in sunny Texas.

Pickup sales may hit 2M units for first time since 2007

Sat, 21 Sep 2013

Even as fuel prices creep back up, trucks are still a hot item among new-vehicle shoppers. To see how popular pickup trucks still are, you don't have to look any further than how much effort automakers put into the continual one-upmanship of their trucks. Backing this fact up, USA Today is reporting that the segment could top two million sales this year - a total not matched since 2007, though still far from the pre-recession, three-million-unit levels.
Through August, the Ford F-Series continues to be the segment leader with almost 500,000 units sold, but the Chevy Silverado (328,269), Ram 1500 (234,642), GMC Sierra (122,232) and Toyota Tacoma (110,293) are all seeing at least 20-percent sales increases, helping to account for around 1.44 million truck sales so far this year - not including possible outliers like the Suzuki Equator and Chevy Avalanche.
This year alone, General Motors has completely redesigned its fullsize trucks, Ram and Toyota have significantly updated their offerings, the next-gen Ford F-150 will be out next year and Nissan is promising an all-new Titan around the same time with an eventual Cummins diesel under the hood. It would seem, then, that truck sales are poised to continue their upward trend.
