THIS IS A 2001 TOYOTA TACOMA SR5 FOUR WHEEL DRIVE XTRA CAB PICKUP TRUCK WITH A BADLY RUSTED FRAME THAT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AND CAN NOT BE DRIVEN SAFELY UNTIL IT IS. THE FRAME ISSUE WAS A TOYOTA FACTORY RECALL BUT THE RECALL HAS EXPIRED AND TOYOTA WILL NOT REPLACE IT NOW. OTHER THAN THE FRAME PROBLEM THE TRUCK IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND RUNS AND DRIVES PERFECTLY AND NEEDS NOTHING WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE STEERING RACK THAT LEAKS AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AND WILL COST AROUND $200.00. HAS THE 2.4 LITER 4 CYLINDER ENGINE THAT RUNS FLAWLESSLY WITH TONS OF POWER AND DOES NOT BURN A DROP OF OIL. ALSO FEATURES AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH OVERDRIVE, SHIFT ON THE FLY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE UNIT THAT WORKS PERFECT, AIR CONDITIONING, POWER WINDOWS, LOCKS, MIRRORS, BRAKES, STEERING, AM/FM STEREO WITH CD PLAYER, ALLOY WHEELS AND MANY OTHER OPTIONS THAT ARE TOO NUMEROUS TO LIST. JUST PASSED NEW JERSEY STATE TWO YEAR INSPECTION IN FEBRUARY. Toyota maintains world's largest automaker crown, GM and VW close behind
Wed, 24 Apr 2013Toyota still holds the title of World's Largest Automaker. The Japanese automaker ceded the claim to General Motors in 2011 following a series of natural and man-made disasters that stifled production in Asia. Production is back up to full speed and, coupled with the introduction of a new Camry midsize sedan, Toyota retook the title in 2012 and has so far been able to keep it by selling 2.43 million vehicles in the first quarter of 2013.
The race is still tight - General Motors reports sales of 2.36 million vehicles, earning it the second spot globally with Volkswagen's 2.27 million sales nabbing the German automaker third place. It's not all smooth sailing for Toyota, either, as the brand's first-quarter figures were down 2.2 percent when compared to last year. GM posted a 3.6-percent gain and VW managed a 5.1-percent gain over the same period.
Sales in China may be a deciding factor as to which automaker performs best in 2013. Toyota's figures were down 13 percent in China. Meanwhile, GM and VW are continuing their upward trajectories in the crucial Chinese market.
Watch a Toyota Highlander ram a house, twice
Mon, 15 Apr 2013Toyota has had plenty of problems in recent years due to claims of unintended acceleration, and now here's a video that actually catches such a claim on video. The driver of this 2010-2013 Toyota Highlander claims that the crossover's accelerator got stuck causing the vehicle to slam into the house twice, and resulting in damage to the Highlander, the house and two vehicles inside the garage. While we don't know when this accident took place, the video was uploaded to YouTube back in January.
It is impossible to determine what actually happened in this video, but what we do know is that a security camera captures the Highlander slowly pulling into the driveway before it lunges forward slamming into the garage. With the tires squealing and metal crunching, the driver then shifts between reverse and drive a couple times causing even more property damage before spinning out in the street and finally being able to shift into Park. Scroll down to see the video for yourself. Whether unintended acceleration or driver error, this was undoubtedly a harrowing ordeal.
Airbag recall widens to include BMW, Chrysler, Ford and Toyota
Mon, 23 Jun 2014The recall of faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata has exploded today to grow to seven automakers. In most cases, only models in certain high-humidity regions were affected because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found in its investigation that moisture played a roll in determining whether there would be a problem. However, some companies opted for national campaigns. The exact number of affected models for these campaigns isn't yet known at this time.
BMW is recalling an undisclosed number of 325i, 325Xi, 330i and 330Xi models from the 2001 through 2005 model years and the 2001-2006 model year versions of the 325Ci and 330Ci for the driver side and passenger side inflators. Only vehicles currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands are covered under this recall.
Neither Chrysler's filing with NHTSA nor its press release list the specific models affected, but a company spokesperson told Autoblog that at this time it only covers the driver and passenger side inflators for the 2006 Dodge Charger in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the US Virgin Islands
