GENERAL: Overall truck is in nice condition. Engine runs smooth. Safety wise it is sound. It makes about 18mpg. (not bad for a 4x4) The A/C blows cold. INTERIOR: Has dash and seat covers. Under the covers everything is well kept. Has CD player and amplifier. Has Brake controller for towing. Dash clock does not work. ENGINE: Had major tune-up & service done 8 months ago. There is an oil leak coming from the lower front of the engine. small leak. If parked for about 2 days you may see a drip. I bought it off eBay for myself and it had a dead cylinder. All necessary repairs were done to it including a totally different rebuilt cylinder head. Engine runs smooth and sound. SUSPENSION: Extra leaf in the rear leaf springs on each side. It has 2" lift kit. TRANSMISSION: 5speed standard, 4x4 system works good, manual locking hubs. BODY: Normal wear, no dents, has small scratches here and there. Front bumper is an ARB steel bumper with a 12,000 lb winch and rear bumper was custom made also steel with a 3,000 lb winch. PAINT: "reptile" like paint job red and green with red bedliner on bottom and in bed. Paint is not perfect, has large chips on hood and various small scratches and dings. Toyota Hilux successor spotted
Mon, 15 Sep 2014The midsize truck segment is suddenly seemingly exploding with new vehicles worldwide, even here in North America. Not only will the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon be available very soon, Toyota is already testing a replacement for its aging Tacoma and Honda has promised a Ridgeline replacement within the next 18 months. Also, the recently shown Nissan Navara is said to portend the future of our Frontier. Here's some more fresh evidence from Europe of this pickup boom with the next generation of its venerable Hilux in testing.
Thanks to Top Gear and sometimes the evening news, the Hilux has built a reputation of being able to go just about anywhere. According to out spy shooter, this particular pickup was spotted during hot weather testing in southern Europe. Interestingly, a Volkswagen Amarok was along for the ride as a benchmark. Because the VW tends to offer a bit more comfort than the generally utilitarian Hilux, this could indicate Toyota is considering taking the new truck in a slightly comfier, more refined direction.
Compared to the current model, this camouflaged tester sports a narrower front grille and headlights. The hood scoop is also absent here. The lower air dam also receives a more horizontal look, but the more vertical fog light housings provide some contrast. The crazy camouflage pattern makes things hard to discern at the rear, but the taillights appear to be more slender than they on the current model. Unfortunately, mechanical details about the new truck remain a mystery at the moment, but enjoy these spy shots as a preview of one more upcoming pickup.
Honda scores big in Automobile Advertising of the Year Awards [w/videos]
Wed, 15 Jan 2014This year the Detroit Auto Show didn't just celebrate the automobile, it celebrated how we find out about the automobile, too. Partnering The One Club, this year introduced the 2014 One Show Automobile Advertising of the Year Award to Cobo Hall, celebrating winners in five different categories of advertising: broadcast television, online, interactive, experiential, and print/outdoor. Winners in those categories were judged by 50 creative directors and journalists, while a Public Choice category was chosen from among nearly 20,000 online votes.
Honda walked off with three of the six awards, its Hands spot taking Broadcast honors, its Sound of Honda getting the Online category and Illusions winning Public Choice. Hyundai made the grade in Interactive with Driveway Decision Maker, Fiat captured Print/Outdoor with its "Letters" ad, and Toyota's Tundra Endeavor Campaign spot and BMW's A Window into the Near Future were co-winners for Experiential.
You can watch all of the press release and winning videos below or check out all of the finalists, announced last month, for a refresher.
