1987 Toyota Pick Up Extended Cab Long Bed 2x4 Helix on 2040-cars
Cookeville, Tennessee, United States
I have two 87 Toyota trucks that will sell together only. I bought the gold one for the near perfect bed. 99.9 % rust free and some dents in the front. I was going to paint it Toyota dark gray metalic silver and install on the DGM truck. The gold truck was in a front end wreck. I cut the front off and 22 R started right up and move with ease in the automatic trans. There is 134,000 miles show on the odometer. The steering wheel is bent and someone head hit the windshield. The cab is in nice nice shape has a replacement. The gray one was my baby amd when I bought it in 2005 it showed 105,00 on odometer. I drove it everywhere and it has a 5 speed manual. At 155,000 miles the timing chain guide went bad so I found another motor and built. It has aftermarket big valve and bigger cam head. The block was bored and crank cut. I invested $4500 in the 22 R by the time I was done buying the Offenhouser intake and Weber carb and long tube header. It is totally unsmogged. The motor ran great and still produce 28 MPG on the highway. 3 months ago I had a hose blow and I was away from the house by 30 miles. I drove it untill it showed getting hot and shut it off a couple times and waited. I made it home and after a repair I fired it up and now the motor smokes. I believe I got some hot spots on the cylinders and scuffed a piston or two or four. I don't know, but it smokes bad now. It runs alright though. After seeing this I fired up the gold one and the motor runs excellant so I was going to swap out. I found a smoken deal on a low mileage F-150 and now decided to cut loose of the Toyota's. If these don't sell I will swap out. The gray one has a different box on it has someone hit the back of the old box and the insurance company totaled it and I bought it back cheap and drove to SC and bought a cherry box from a 88 model. I put a couple dents in it accidently but it is a great box but shows some rust in the exterior seam. The title might show a rebuilt title because the insurance Company totaled it. Nothing was hurt other than rear bumper and box. The gray on now has 185,000 on it. There is some rust in drivers front fender and right side front is new. Before hose blew I made a quick trip up to Indiana driving the gray one two months ago and it cruises out good. The tires have about 3000 miles on them. These trucks are hard to find and with these two you can a make a great truck and still sell extra parts. Local pick up only unless you arrange shipment. These are for sale locally so I will shut down if they sell. You can call for more info or email through eBay. 931-881-8351 They are located in Cookeville, TN |

Toyota holds onto crown of World's Largest Automaker
Thu, Jan 22 2015Although there were hints and allegations that the Volkswagen Group might have taken the global sales crown for 2014, the final tally puts Toyota at the top with 10.23 million sales in 2014. We should really say it keeps Toyota at the top, since that makes three years in a row the Japanese company has been No. 1. Volkswagen Group came in second with 10.14 million units sold, General Motors in third with 9.92 million units sold. This the first time for both Toyota and Volkswagen to pass 10 million sales in a single year. Toyota, including its Hino and Daihatsu divisions, did it with a three-percent increase in company-wide sales on the back of strong demand in Japan and the US. Its strength in developed markets might be the reason it loses the title this year, though; Toyota forecasts a two-percent gain in sales outside of Japan, but a nine-percent drop in its home market because of a new consumption tax that encouraged buyers to purchase before the end of last year. On top of that, turmoil in Southeast Asian economies like Thailand and Indonesia depressed sales in 2014 and they're facing more headwinds. The company envisions 10.15 million sales in 2015. Volkswagen, on the other hand, "has a jet engine strapped to its back called 'China,'" where Toyota is out-of-sorts. Volkswagen Group sales fell 2.9 percent in the US last year, while Toyota gained 6.2 percent here. But Volkswagen roped in 3.7 million sales in China, a 12-percent increase. Toyota enjoyed a huge bump of 12.5 percent in China, but that only got it to 1.03 million units, missing its yearly target and leading to trouble with its Chinese dealers over unsold inventory. With Toyota on the Chinese sidelines while Volkswagen guns for No. 1 status and pledges more production capacity in China – sales there are expected to top 25 million units this year – it looks like this could be the year the VW Group takes over the lead. That would be three years ahead of its original target of 2018. An analyst in Japan said Toyota is more focused on "keeping profitability than chasing numbers" – profitability is an issue for VW right now – so Toyota might not be back at the top "for [the] coming years." Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names
Tue, Mar 17 2015Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.
2013 Toyota RAV4 earns 'poor' rating in IIHS small overlap crash test [w/video]
Thu, 11 Jul 2013When the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tested a batch of SUVs in its small overlap frontal crash test earlier this year, it held off on putting the Toyota RAV4 in the blender because the new, 2013 model was due to arrive shortly after the test. The new crossover might be better than it was before, but it could still only manage a rating of "Poor" in the test that has been a bugbear for a number of manufacturers.
Among other issues, the IIHS noted that the steering column moved seven inches to the right causing the crash test dummy to practically miss the airbag, the dummy's left foot was trapped in deformed sheetmetal and the dummy's head hit the instrument panel.
The 2013 RAV4 earned the Top Safety Pick rating by scoring well in the Institute's four other tests. A good score in this particular test would have earned it the Top Safety Pick+ rating that is so far only claimed by the 2014 Subaru Forester and 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport in the SUV category. There's a press release below with more details and a video of the test.
